Had a lovely birthday dinner. Food was awesome, service was excellent. The only negative is they seated us right by the restroom- not good.
We love the food and bring lots of visitors here for the excellent pasta!! I got the rigatoni and loved it.
Sometimes disappointed with waiting despite having a reservation but this time we only had to wait ~5min.
Fried calamari, Caesar salad, Eggplant rollatini, chicken parm & meatball parm were all excellent.
Robbie, our waiter, was excellent.
The temperature in Nico’s Secret room is very warm.
Worst staff at a restaurant in years. Never checked the table didn’t ask if we wanted dessert coffee. I cleaned my table of seafood shells myself and put them on the table behind me. Kicker we were the only two in the place
Excellent food and service. My only critique would be, we were with people who were not wine drinkers. There was very few lower cost wines that I would order with them. There were some nice high level wines! Also, not a full bar!
Every time we go to Nico, we have to wait 45 minutes to an hour, despite having a reservation. What’s the point in having a reservation if they don’t really hold to them? The food was very good but there are hundreds of other restaurants in the North end with good food. Nico should be more considerate and respectful of their customers’ time and not have them wait as long for a reserved table.
Service was excellent. Food was delicious!
Great food. Friendly waiter. We’re good to go back!
A wonderful evening. We were joined by friends and everything was perfect. The food was excellent at every course and we shared some lovely wine. Everything was enhanced by the outstanding service provided by our server Eddie. This is definitely a must try if you’re looking at the north end. Thank you Bill & Julie
great being outside on 10/14
will be back for sure
The lobster arancini was incredible. Also, their handmade pastas were fantastic. Don’t miss the clams fra diavolo!
Our second experience at Nico waiting over an hour for our table with a reservation made. Last time we were at least given free appetizers by management for our extra wait, however this time we weren’t even acknowledged and the hostess seemed to brush us off when we checked on our wait time. We also ordered the Cacio E Pepe and because we were seated downstairs they did not have the cheese wheel available to us, they really should not be charging for a “table side experience” if all of their downstairs seating is paying without the experience. While we enjoy the food and our server was great, we will not be returning again.
We made a reservation for 7:30, and were not seated until 8:45. The food was not amazing, not a ton of flavor.
We were seated at a small table that was two feet from the bar on one side and next to an open window on the other. On the bar side, a couple of times someone would bump up against the table while the window side has a bench immediately underneath with people waiting outside to be seated. And right above us was a speaker with loud techno music playing. The server was pleasant enough but it took an hour and ten minutes for us to get our entrees. Not once during that time did anyone come and check on us. We got water refilled once by a server that was clearly miserable to be there. My wife had the Chilean sea bass which was $44. Overpriced for the size. Overall, food was good but ambiance and service was sub-par at best.
We had a reservation for Saturday night and they couldn’t seat us for over 30 minutes past the reservation. I understand the North End is crowded Saturday nights but what is the point of a reservation then? I saw several other people with this problem as well. Also - Nico advertises “North End’s only table side cacio e Pepe”. When we ordered this, they came over and said it was too crowded to wheel the table over to do it table side. What is the point of offering this then? Overall - amazing food but sub par experience. I had to keep apologizing to my guests for showing them a bad north end restaurant.
Our go to when in Boston-it’s amazing, make a reservation and enjoy!
The garlic bread was the best, the food was great and my brother-in-law said, “this is probably the best meal I’ve had eating out”.
Always great. Love the food, atmosphere and service.
Excellent service & amazing food but the music was way to loud.
We loved the parm wheel experience!!!
It was great.. highly recommend it
Had a wonderful evening at Nico. Food and service were great. Eddie, our server, went above and beyond. Veal chop special got rave reviews. They did a nice job helping us celebrate a birthday with a cup of tiramisu, sparkler candle and the whole restaurant singing happy birthday. We’ll be back!
Delicious, great presentation and we loved our servers especially Eddie!
Amazing food + the most perfect wine parred with our meals. Highly recommend!
Nico was so fun! I would recommend it to everyone.
Very excited to try Nico for the first time. First off, the pop music playing was VERY loud which I wasn't expecting for a North End restaurant. We could barely hear the waiter tell us the specials. The only bathroom was out of order during the time we were there - they suggested we use the fire station across the street. We ordered the zucchini & sausage appetizer which was delicious. We placed our entrée orders and they took quite a long time to arrive. We noticed others who were seated well after us receiving their meals before us. Two of us got the tableside Cascio de Pepe and it was delicious. The other two got the Shrimp Scampi and the Carbonara. Both were very good. We were then presented with the check without being asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. We let the server know we wanted after dinner drinks so he apologized and got our drinks. All in all it was a very good dinner but really loud and slow/rushed service. Expected a little more from a place that I've heard so much about.
So sad to write this negative review, Nico’s had been our special place in Boston when we visited.
The hostess was amazing and was working hard to manage around the difficult seating (the outdoor seating is not convenient for the staff due to the Fire Station regulations and their service station was too small to be well equipped for a satellite location).
We asked to change seats since the table was next to a planter that someone had dumped drinks and a cigarette in long enough to have mold on the limes and a bad smell. The water glasses arrived with one very dirty.
The meatball was good, the focaccia was great! Unfortunately our main meals were not good at all - the homemade pasta in the carbonara was mushy and lacked seasoning, my husbands Ragu lacked much sausage and seasoning. We had only a few bites - the server noticed we weren’t eating and didn’t want to bring home. He didn’t appear to be surprised.
I’m sad to say we won’t make Nico’s a part of our regular Boston trip in the future.
Lovely meal. Great service. Welcoming modern atmosphere.
The waiter forgot to put in both main dish orders. The server brought one of the dinners and said we were going to share it. We thought it was odd since we both ordered a main dish. After the first dinner arrived we waited 10-15 miniutes, we caught the attention of the hostess/manager and they determined it was never ordered. It was a special occassion and we were very dissappointed. They did apologize but at that point we had waited another 15- 20 minutes for the second dinner and the first one was cold.
They did not charge us for the whole meal, which was generous, however, we left hungry and what was supposed be a special night did not turn out well.
We went for my partner’s birthday - the cheese wheel was quite the novelty. Felt as though it was a bit overpriced for it, under salted and the black pepper was overwhelming. The drinks were amazing though.
Great Option for a date night. We sat outside with the lights and ambiance was great!
Nico was fantastic, busy night had a reservation but still had to wait but once we were seated our drinks and food came fast and furious. Absolutely loved their take on chicken saltinboca it was amazing
Great restaurant - the ambiance & food were wonderful. Only downside: the parm cheese wheel is advertised everywhere but no where does it mention its not available outside. We chose this restaurant specifically for the cheese wheel - came from South Carolina - did not get the cheese wheel.
Amazing service and food!! We enjoyed our evening.
The Cheese wheel was amazing. Would highly recommend.
Good was amazing. Would definitely go again. Outdoor seating was perfect.
It was absolutely fantastic from the minute we walked in the door. The waitstaff was very attentive, the food was amazing, the drinks were delicious!
The best restaurant in the North End. Great food and great service. You would think you are in Italy.
