So sad to write this negative review, Nico’s had been our special place in Boston when we visited.
The hostess was amazing and was working hard to manage around the difficult seating (the outdoor seating is not convenient for the staff due to the Fire Station regulations and their service station was too small to be well equipped for a satellite location).
We asked to change seats since the table was next to a planter that someone had dumped drinks and a cigarette in long enough to have mold on the limes and a bad smell. The water glasses arrived with one very dirty.
The meatball was good, the focaccia was great! Unfortunately our main meals were not good at all - the homemade pasta in the carbonara was mushy and lacked seasoning, my husbands Ragu lacked much sausage and seasoning. We had only a few bites - the server noticed we weren’t eating and didn’t want to bring home. He didn’t appear to be surprised.
I’m sad to say we won’t make Nico’s a part of our regular Boston trip in the future.
Lovely meal. Great service. Welcoming modern atmosphere.
The waiter forgot to put in both main dish orders. The server brought one of the dinners and said we were going to share it. We thought it was odd since we both ordered a main dish. After the first dinner arrived we waited 10-15 miniutes, we caught the attention of the hostess/manager and they determined it was never ordered. It was a special occassion and we were very dissappointed. They did apologize but at that point we had waited another 15- 20 minutes for the second dinner and the first one was cold.
They did not charge us for the whole meal, which was generous, however, we left hungry and what was supposed be a special night did not turn out well.
We went for my partner’s birthday - the cheese wheel was quite the novelty. Felt as though it was a bit overpriced for it, under salted and the black pepper was overwhelming. The drinks were amazing though.
Great Option for a date night. We sat outside with the lights and ambiance was great!
Nico was fantastic, busy night had a reservation but still had to wait but once we were seated our drinks and food came fast and furious. Absolutely loved their take on chicken saltinboca it was amazing
Great restaurant - the ambiance & food were wonderful. Only downside: the parm cheese wheel is advertised everywhere but no where does it mention its not available outside. We chose this restaurant specifically for the cheese wheel - came from South Carolina - did not get the cheese wheel.
Amazing service and food!! We enjoyed our evening.
The Cheese wheel was amazing. Would highly recommend.
Good was amazing. Would definitely go again. Outdoor seating was perfect.
It was absolutely fantastic from the minute we walked in the door. The waitstaff was very attentive, the food was amazing, the drinks were delicious!
The best restaurant in the North End. Great food and great service. You would think you are in Italy.
We were in town from Kentucky for a wedding and my girlfriend had never had real north end Italian dinner, the first place I could think of to bring her was Nico’s, the service is always excellent, the atmosphere and ambiance is great and the food is out of this world. Thank you for an amazing dinner, she was extremely impressed and everything was delicious!
No one offered seating outside and the noise was too much . 1st experience and I would say I would not experience nico again . Staff was attentive , drinks were good and the veal and lobster ravioli were fantastic. Place way to small for conversation
Great food and ambience! A little pricey but overall a great meal.
Service was outstanding. The food was great, way above average. Very nice place. Staff makes you feel comfortable at all times. Our favorite restaurant in the North end. Always have a meal there when we travel to Boston
Obsessed with this place. Food is amazing and Ermal is the best server.
Excellent food, location and service. I had the gnocchi, husband had the veal. It was delicious and served very quickly.
Food was great. The La Romana salad was surprisingly delicious and the cacio e Pepe is 100% worth the hype. It’s a small place so it was loud. It would have been tough to be on a first date or something but we loved it.
Worst service I have ever had, gave us a plate we did order and said “too bad” and charged us an extra 23 dollars for it. Waiter came by every 10 minutes and was not attentive.
Wonderful ambience and attentive staff. The food was delicious, too!
Food was excellent. Service was attentive but not overly friendly. Indoor dining was cramped and very loud but the delicious food made up for this.
Nico is one of our favorite restaurants, and we often drive down from Maine just to eat here. Great food, great service. We’ve been countless times and never had a bad experience.
Dining out with family before dropping my daughter off at college. The food, service and ambiance were great. However, the menu on Open Table was apparently not the correct one. The menu in the restaurant is much more expensive than the one given on open table.
As always Nico’s was the perfect spot to take our out of town guests. Always delicious, never disappoints. Can’t wait to go back!
Great restaurant. Only complaint was that the portion for the antipasto we got was a little skimpy. It tasted delicious though!
A flawless experience, per usual! Everything, from the wine to the dessert was fantastic, and a great way to celebrate any special occasion.
Honestly, I would not recommend anybody to go to this restaurant. I was really excited to go, but service was totally lacking, food was lacking flavor, and the carbonara’s bacon was pretty much raw. Also the eggs in the carbonara were barely cooked. Drinks over priced. Completely OK to spend money on a great meal, but this wasn’t it.
Had to wait over 1 hour even though we had a reservation. Other parties who has also reserved were in the same situation. If you know you are at capacity during a time then dont have it available on the website.
The cheese wheel was not worth the hype, it was bland and if you were seated downstairs you had to go up to watch it get made. Other food was alright also. The dessert was terrible. The waiter said they had creme brûlée's with berries on top. What came out looked like a dessert in a cup that would be served at an elementary school. No burned, crispy sugar layer to crack. Just a pudding with canned blueberries and raspberries on top. Save your money and don't go here.
Sat downstairs. Much quitter. Service was great. Made many suggestions. Food was outstanding and nice sized.
The food and service were amazing. We will definitely be back.
Whenever we come to Boston we have dinner at Nico, it’s always fabulous
Great experience!! I was nervous about some of the poor reviews I had read recently but those customers must be impossible to please. We were lucky enough to be seated at a table directly next to the open window. We were able to sit and watch people walk up and down Hanover Street and the fire trucks come and go. The food was amazing. The bread and oil dip to start was delicious. We ordered the burrata to start and it was great. My fiance ordered the cacio e pepe and I ordered the veal parm. Both were excellent. We hope to make it back again soon!!!
The food is great. The service is excellent. It’s hard to ask for much more.
As always the perfect North End experience on a summer night.
Pasta was way overdone. Didn’t taste good unfortunately.
Great food and service
Great food and exceptional service!
