The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the chicken Marsala and chicken parm, portions were large for the price and very, very good. We ordered the antipasto board, which came out on a plain small dinner plate, so the presentation was a bit disappointing. Unfortunately we were seated next to the bathroom in the basement when there were other tables available and we had made a reservation, so the ambiance was not ideal. Overall, a great culinary experience. Next time, would recommend asking to be seated upstairs.
My boyfriend and I are typically picky with what italian place we should go to because most places taste the same and some are more pricy than others in the North End. We have never tried this out and we did not see the best reviews online but, once we received our food it was amazing! The tables are very close together and it gets pretty loud in there as well. If you are looking for a quiet place to go to and not get disturbed by other people this probably is not the best place to go to.
First time ever going to Nico and it will not be my last. I always get nervous that NYE means that the restaurants aren't bringing their A game. Nico sure did. Server was great and attentive even though we were probably his loudest/obnoxious table. Every single thing we ordered was amazing. Calamari, meatball, arancini, eggplant, chicken parm.. you name it and they nailed it.
Wanted to give it 5 stars, but made a reservation for 6:30 and didn't get seated until 7. Otherwise, place is very intimate with tables close together. Was perfect for a date. Food is AMAZING. I got the mushroom truffle ravioli and my boyfriend got the special, lobster risoto. We split the shrimp bruchetta. All were so so good. Would love to go back! Just have to make a reservation planning on not getting seated right away.
Seafood Ciopino special was great!
Great dining experience. I had
Great service and food. Nice table in front- really enjoyed our evening
One of our all time favorites in the North End! Great food, and service. Gnocchi and Meatballs are the best!!!
It's coo lots of fun for Christmas dinnah.
We loved Nico. The food was delicious but, really, it was the service that was outstanding.
With all the great restaurants in the North End, this is our favorite.
The food was amazing as well as the service. Looking forward to dinning there again!
We had a reservation but waited 45 minutes past the reservation time to be seated, even though the restaurant told us it would only be a few minutes when we checked in. No apology or explanation was given. Silver lining: food and server were great.
We had a res
We came to Nico for an early-ish dinner before a show at the Garden and were not disappointed. The food was delicious and the service was excellent and prompt. Next time we would share a dish since the portions were very filling, but it was just as yummy the next day for lunch!
Food was excellent! Homemade pasta was delicious. Will definitely be returning soon!
The food was excellent (especially the mushroom ravioli in a truffle sauce), the service was great, and the location was perfect. I took some out-of-town co-workers there for a Holiday dinner and everyone loved it!
Food was amazing. Very authentic, servers speak italian! My only complaint was that I had an 8:15 reservation and didn’t get sat until 30 minutes after that.
We have visited Nico in multiple occasions. It is always busy and vibrant, and the food is amazing!
Food was outstanding. Every person left with a clean plate. Fresh pasta was amazing and the burrata appetizer was to die for.
We were placed downstairs at bottom of stairs next to bathroom and table staging area. Always too loud there and running up and down stairs if staff was disruptive. Besides that, food was excellent and the staff was too.
Loved eating at Nico- the beet salad is phenomenal and the calamari was so fresh and delicious.
With that said, we were disappointed with the lack of celebration per se. We made our reservation and informed them we would be celebrating a birthday. The host checked us in and wish a happy birthday, the server did as well as we were seated, then they never brought any cake or dessert for our table to celebrate yet served the table next to us a free birthday dessert...would've loved to have had a little something as well.
Wonderful evening! Staff was incredible!!
Great service, very attentive. Hidden gem. The veal saltimbocca is exceptional! Kudos to the staff.
The food and service was wonderful. Our dinner was marred by a nearby table at which there was an extremely intoxicated and loud woman which detracted from our party’s ability to converse.
They went out of their way to be welcoming to my family. We were 30 minutes late and they still had a table for us.
The hostess was polite and accommodating
The waiter was fantastic and gave awesome service
This restaurant is an authentic old school Italian restaurant
We came to Boston for the night and this was or only choice for dinner.
This is our seventh time here and never have we been disappointed
The reservation was canceled due to a gas leak. Canceled night of.
This review is really for Strega Nico’s sister restaurant. We had reservations at Nico on Saturday night as we arrive there are emergency vehicles and we found out there was a gas leak in the street. We walked into Strega without a reservation and miraculously they were able to find a table in the small restaurant. The hostess went out of her way to help us. We had a fantastic meal and the service was the best. I would highly recommend Strega. I can’t wait to go back and eat at Nico’s.
Our reservation for 4 was at 8:30 PM - Finally got seated about 9:15. The hostess was very rude. It was impossible to get a drink at the bar. The food on the other hand was amazing.
We were celebrating a victory at the Head of the Charles Regatta. It was a perfect night. The wine was delicious and well paired. The meatball appetizer would challenge my little Italian mother and the burrata and prosciutto salad was perfect without an ounce of fat. I have seafood pasta, our guests cioppino (frutti d'mar) and a beautiful risotto. Loads of laughs and and a wonderful server. That my friend picked up the check when he feigned going to the restroom made a perfect evening even better. Thanks
We waited an hour to sit. Horrible and misleading experience. Would not dine again.
We were using a gift certificate with friends after a terrible experience dining at Strega waterfront. I was server at Nico more than made up for a bad experience and bad service at Strega. This server was top notch very informed about the menu knowledgeable and helpful with food allergies for one of our diners
Loved Nico. Food and service was outstanding. Noise level downstairs was insane. We were a table of 10 seated next to a table of 14? Could not hear a word of conversation from anyone at my table.
Rating would be better, as the food was excellent, as was the service, but the menu for Nico on your website was more vast and the pricing was significantly different. Maybe updates are necessary.
Great place to get out of town folks to dinner so they can experience the true Northend faire.
The food was great and service outstanding. Our waiter “Eddie” was very professional, helpful and friendly.
As Seinfeld says, they could take a reservation, but they couldn't hold a reservation. We wound up getting lucky and sat at the bar. It was evident, we'd have waited upwards of 45 minutes to an hour after our reservation time given how long the others outside with us initially had waited. The hostess didn't seem to care that this was the case.
Visiting from Arizona , just for the weekend I had to
Stop here 2 times such a great food ! Service was amazing our server James went the extra mile with all
The recommendations ... if I have to stop in Boston again this will be the spot to visit definitely. Recommend everyone to visit this location.
Food was wonderful and service great!
