Our go to north end restaurant is always Nico! Just be prepared for a wait even with the reservation, but the food and service is well worth it.
Enjoyed our meal very much! Service was overall good, our waiter was very personable and attended to our needs. It did get a little warm near the end of the meal with the larger crowd and sun shining in the restaurant. Overall a great meal!
Nico is my favorite North End Restaurant for taking out of town guests and businesses associates for an authentic Italian North End experience. The food is always excellent and the service is outstanding!
Road crews were working outside the restaurant and was loud and smelled like tar. Not the restaurant’s fault but the food was poor. Ordered egg plant parmigiana and the pasta was served cold. The eggplant was decent but not worth the price. Had two other meals in the area and were great and Nico was disappointing.
Service and food were excellent.
Everything was excellent as we celebrated our 45 th year of graduation out of college.
Nico is fine. Sit upstairs, it'll make all the difference. We ended up sitting in the basement, which, usually I may not mind except for a few things; It was gorgeous outside, and the upper floor had the windows open and the beautiful weather spilling in. We sat in the basement with a birthday party of 12, it made it a very loud space.
Food was excellent and priced fairly. I had the homemade rigatoni with sausage which was delicious. On an earlier visit I had the appetizer special of burrata with tomatoes and prosciutto, it was so good! the prices on wine seem a bit high. I believe there was nothing offered under $11/glass and many were $15 and over. Service was very efficient. Our dinners came out around 5 minutes after ordering! Clearing up after we were done was a little too efficient. I was enjoying a piece of their delicous bread with olive oil at the end of the meal and the bread dish was cleared away while I was in the middle of it. Although our waiter told us to take our time, I felt we were being rushed out. Other than that, I really enjoyed our meal and would definitely return.
Great food, and great service!
Delicious - service was great and it is a small restaurant where you feel an intimate connection with those you've come with, and with the staff. Thank you!
We arrived early and our table was ready. Our server was wonderful, attentive but not smothering. The food was outstanding! I would highly recommend NICO.
Hands down the BEST Carbonara I have EVER had. The smoked pancetta in it was amazing. Service was impeccable. They did not rush us and provided just the right amount of attention to our table.
We had reservations at 7:30 p.m. We were finally seated at 8:15 p. m. We will not be dining there again.
Wonderful evening with good food and good service.

Nico was a pleasant experience, from the reception to our waiter Sabato’s excellent service. Three of the Five were celebrating birthdays and our waiter figured it out and provided a delicious dessert, delivered with appropriate singing accompaniment.
Highs: staff, menu and wine recommendation.
Be prepared for: You better like your dining companions and being close to your co-diners.
As always, our favorite place to go when visiting Boston, the food quality and the staff, are always impeccable.
Wonderful cocktails, excellent food in a charming North End location.
My first time there and the experience was Amazing. Thank you
Great food, lively ambiance, great service. Would go back
This was the second time at Nico, but unfortunately the service was much worse. Looked like they overbooked the restaurant so were seated 20 mins past reservation time, without acknowledgment. Then were seated in the basement for a table that did not fit our party of 5. Our waiter was great and the food is still quite good, but service was very lacking
Amazing food and service every time!
Cannot say anything bad about this place! Service was spectacular, not too much and not too little. Food was out of this world! Our waiter was amazing, very personable and a great quiet sense of humor. I’ve been to plenty of places in the North End, but Nico’s is my new favorite!!
Amazing food, waiter and staff made our Harvard Grad. Party a blast! Thank you Nico.
Enjoyed the food! Restaurant is a bit small so felt a bit squished. Also we celebrated a special occasion and would have been thoughtful if restaurant surprised us with a dessert or something. That said we still had a wonderful meal.
Visiting from Florida- we made a reservation here after a recommendation from a friend and it more than hit our somewhat high expectations! I had the ravioli with truffle sauce and their antipasto special with artichokes and prosciutto. My date had the seafood pasta with a creamy truffle sauce. The server helped us find a bottle of wine and it hit the pallet perfectly mixed with all the dishes. Lovely spot perfectly situated in the North End on Hanover street. We will be back to dine at Nico’s next time were in town!
Everybody enjoyed their meals. We were seated in the basement which was a bit too stuffy and hot. We were sweating through most of our meal until the AC was turned on.
Server was excellent was very friendly and made some good suggestions. Food was great also. Best meatball around! Will be back for sure
Overall, fantastic! Only downside is were sat down about 40 minute after our reservation (we were right in the middle of rush hour though so its inderstandable to an extent) but from the second we finally were sat down the staff was amazing, the food was incredible and arrived very quick for everything being made from scratch. Two people in our group split a dish, and without us even asking the waitor brought their dish split in half on two separate plates. Dessert was fantastic too! Would very highly recommend for a north end option that doesnt break the bank *too* badly
Great food, great service, would have given it 5 stars if I wasn’t a Italian cook. Definitely would go back.
My husband and I went to an early dinner here before a show. We had a reservation for 6 o'clock, because it was an early dinner, the restaurant wasn't very crowded when we walked in. They have an upstairs and downstairs, we sat upstairs. It was a nice night, so I wish they opened the windows for a better ambiance. I ordered the homemade spaghetti and meatball (size of a softball), but asked for the homemade fusilli instead. My husband ordered the fusilli can gamberoni- homemade fusilli, jumbo shrimp, zucchini, ricotta with vodka sauce. Both meals were excellent! The meatball was so large it could be a meal on it's own. Highly recommended! We've tried a lot of restaurants in the North End, and this will definitely be remembered as one of our favorites.
Great graduation dinner for our family of 12!
We've been coming here for 4 years now, each time we visit our son at college, and absolutely love this place!!! Wonderful staff, food is consistently delicious, and super ambiance...we've tried so many dishes and they've all been great!
Amazing authentic Italian food. We had the rigatoni, the spaghetti and meatball, and the prime rib. We also had a Chianti wine. Everything was absolutely magnificent. We I've never had a better Italian meal.
We are in Boston once a year and always make time to visit Nico's. The best pasta and service!
Italian food in a cozy gem in the North end. Daily specials are amazing. Would recommend reservations.
