Been to Nick’s many times. Unfortunately our last visit was not the best.
We were seated well after our reservation slot, which is not a big deal as there can be folks who linger at tables.
The two big issues during this visit were extremely slow entree service and secondly, noise level. We waited a good 30-40 minutes after our salads for our entrees to be served.
Given our multiple visits before, we know the noise level is always high but this last visit we had to lean across the table to carry on our conversations with our party.
Always the best!
We arrived early and were seated even though our reservation was for half an hour later. Wait staff was patient—old friends catching up did a lot of talking before ordering. Everyone liked what they ordered. Butter cake was out of this world. We will return!
Everything was good except the noise in the room can be overbearing. Can ruin a pleasant ambience.
We have been to Nick’s many many times. The food is excellent. This was the first time where service was a concern. She simply had too many tables to be effective.
Great food and excellent staff. Grand slam menu and don’t leave without trying the butter cake. It is a bit noisy, thinking they didn’t plan well for the acoustics. But well worth it considering the food.
Amazing food and service. Butter cake dessert is a must.
Great environment and amazing service. The food was amazing as well.
Always good food! Good service, consistently great fish entrees. Salmon one of the best around..
Had a nice lunch. Tamer was our waiter he as awesome. Prime rib sandwich meat was tough. Had a nice card for anniv signed by staff.
Great restaurant. Interesting flavor combinations and spot on execution. Highly recommended!
Nick’s has great food and wonderful friendly service. It is quite noisy though. I would highly recommend.
Always great service and food!
From the asparagus fries to the butter and, another great night at Nicks sitting at our favorite hi top. Our server Danielle was wonderful. Plan to be back soon.
Nick’s never disappoints. We brought friends who had never been and now they look forward to going back and trying another menu item. We’ve tried almost everything on the menu and have always enjoyed our meal.
As always, an amazing dining experience! We have never had a bad meal here, and that's why we continue to come back...for casual dinners as well as for special occasions like birthdays. Nick's is a family favorite, and this last visit didn't disappoint. We will keep coming back!
Always great food and service! One of our favorite places to go!
Great place to unwind and have a drink with friends. Always good service and food.
Our meal was outstanding. We both ordered the filet and it was prepared to perfection. The seasonings were excellent. We had an early reservation so not too noisy until we were ready to leave. It was a great dinner and will definitely go back. The service was impeccable.
As always, the food and service were excellent. I usually order the cioppino, which contains a generous amount of fish and shellfish. However, this time I decided to try the Fish & Chips. Although the fish was tasty and perfectly cooked, there were only three small-ish pieces, along with french fries (which are super cheap to produce) and a small salad serving. For the price of the mean, I thought the fish serving was very measly. Next time I want fish & chips I will drive up to Santa Monica Fish in Costa Mesa, where they give you a much more generous size portion - I believe for less money.
I love Nicks but we had a terrible table! There were four in our party and the table sat three of us in a row like we were at a bus stop. We couldn’t hear each other and we sat facing several tables that was incredibly awkward. Also, since they leave the windows open, the heaters were on high. I was very disappointed!!
Always a bit noisy, but worth it. The service is always excellent, the food is to die for and typically a manager comes by to check in on everything. Make a reservation any time you go, this place is always packed!
Very busy Sat night. so we had to wait 15 minutes for our 7:30pm reserved table for 2.
But not bad considering how busy it always is.
Flawless food, impeccable service. Worth the drive!
Loved it. Expensive but still loved it. Love the low lighting the location and the warm towels they bring you some clean up after a messy course
Super loud but not sure what you can do to mitigate it. Great food and service as always.
Wait staff are very attentive and food outstanding
Excellent food and service , but its so noisy that its difficult yo carry a conversation
I guess Saturday is not the best day to enjoy Nick’s. The noise level was painful and the food not as good as usual. The service was very attentive
No place is perfect, but as a long-time San Clemente local, Nicks is close. Busy Saturday night so super noisy ( expected) Felt that our waiter was stressed- didn’t get our order in quite a timely fashion.... but, it was packed and we tend to be patient and understanding . I just think when he got to our table finally, he should of said something. Food was delicious.
Never a bad meal and the service is always impeccable
Food and service was very good. Staff was friendly and attentive. Great lunch spot, would like to see more of a lunch menu though.
Very good experience. The Scottish Salmon was wonderful and the Fish and Chips very good. DO save room for the Butter Cake, one of the best deserts ever.
They really could use a menu change. Other than that it's a nice destination and worth going to.
Delicious, as always. Service is remarkably efficient and friendly.
Food was good. Very loud. Don’t go there to celebrate a birthday and think once you told hostess about birthday (and they acknowledge and said they would let server know ) that they provide a scoop of ice cream with a candle! While I waited for this as they acknowledged birthday and then questioned the server when it did not arrive she then explained that they do not provide complementary birthday desert. They only provide a very simple card that the staff has signed. Wish they had made that clear. Really a card signed by employees! First restaurant I have ever been to that does not provide a simple birthday desert. The server was then quite embarrassed over this fact that it was not explained to us and brought over desert that they comped.
Need to know this up front.
Nick's is always one of our favorites in San Clemente. The ambiance is warm and lively. Service is both friendly and excellent. The food is great. Good wine list and cocktails. Butter cake for dessert is one of the best desserts anywhere.
Patrick really understood his role for a couple parents with a toddler trying to have a great time..and you add the amazing suggestions..he and the food were stellar!
Nick’s is one of my favorite restaurants and worthy of the drive from San Diego. The food and drinks are delicious and I’ve always had excellent service. I specifically requested a table near the front of the restaurant as I thought it might be quieter than in the middle of the restaurant. Unfortunately, we were seated in the middle of the restaurant and struggled to hear each other speak. Although it is noisy, it won’t stop me from coming!
