Nick’s Fish Dive Ratings and Reviews
Went to Nick's for a birthday/Christmas combo celebration. Hostess was very fast, kind and helpful. Service was quick and attentive. Food was excellent, especially the oysters as one would expect. Very fresh. We ate and ate with good cocktails. bucket of shrimp is good value. Could use more local craft beers.
View of the Waterway from the patio is great, but inside seating is also good as the décor is nice.
Will be back!
Spent an enjoyable Friday evening at Nick's. Both the grilled and raw oysters were a delicious appetizer. My redfish was delicious and my dining companion's gumbo was delicious as well. Their homemade spicy mix in the Bloody Mary made it one of the finest Bloody Mary's I have ever had. The service was good initially, but flaked out the last 1/3 of the evening. I've dined at most of the top restaurants in the area and think Nick's have overpriced themselves.
Had dinner there last night. Food was good. we had the Lobster Poutine for an appetizer at the recommendation of our waiter it was delicious. My Husband had the fish tacos and he really liked them. I had the steamed mussels and they were good as well. We will be back to try the raw oysters.
Excellent food. The fish tacos are outstanding. Tonight I ordered a side of collard greens that were on another dish. Wow were they delicious. Our guests ordered mussels and the fried oyster sandwich. They raved about the mussels but noted that ‘the sandwich was heavy on the bread (thick bread). Such a good place. The food is consistently good. Will be back again.
Not very good.
We asked to be seated on the deck which was very nice. We could hear the fountains nearby.
But the food was just not very good. My husband and our friend both got the fried shrimp and oysters. Just kinda dry and tasteless. I had the lobster roll which was saturated in dressing and had a strong herb flavor. Couldn't really taste the lobster for everything else that was going on in the roll.
Service was good.
Everything was made from scratch... Biscuits and gravy, scratch... Chicken & Waffles, amazing batter and obviously made from scratch. Bottomless mimosas btw!
Their menu has changed a few times, but that just keeps them creative. We ordered soul food most places serve, but they don’t do it like these guys.
We’ll be back
Only reason I did not give food more than 3 stars is because their on line menu is nothing like the actual menu. There were 3 dishes I was interested in but not one of them was on the actual menu. Very disappointed. The waiter said their web designer did not do her job well. Need to make a change then or add dishes back to menu.
The first time I dined here was for Mother’s Day brunch and the food and service were great. The second time was for dinner and I must say, I was a little disappointed. The service was slow, and the food was mediocre. Oysters were just okay as I expected more from an oyster bar. I will give it another try.
Beautiful restaurant but the atmosphere was strange, appetizer was not good, expensive cocktails for the size.
We saw many different people seating & serving tables and it wasn't busy at all.
The background music was not very appealing and they had MMA fighting on the television...we even left with a couple fighting loudly at their table!
Reservation and special occasion noted on reservation was not acknowledged when we walked in. Was on a Sunday, so not busy at all. Restaurant is touted as an Oyster Bar, only 3 different oysters advertised that day but only 2 types of oysters were available. Waiter said they hadn't received their delivery yet. I like the different types of beer offerings to pair with oysters however one of the beers was not available and if I had ordered the flight with oyster pairing, it could not be fulfilled. I do want to point out the atmosphere was very relaxing and our waiter was fantastic with his service. My main course of stuffed trout was very good. I'd like to revisit again, when they have more oysters to select from and beer to pair with.
The menu looks good but unfortunately the flavor left much to be desired. I tried the gumbo which was not good at all. The oysters were pretty good and was definitely the best thing I had however the lobster tail seemed to lack flavor. I live in Providence and the New England area so maybe my standards were too high.
Food was good but pricey. Parking is an issue. I was told they would validate parking at the garage nearby and the validation was not done correctly at the restaurant so when I got to my car I found out too late to do anything about it so I had to pay for parking. That kind of damaged the impression we had of the restaurant overall.
Our waitress was terrible she had a bad attitude I was out of water for over 20 minutes finally had to ask another waiter for a refill waited over 40 minutes for our food which wasn't very good. Waitress never came back that ask us if we needed anything will never go back
The food was good but the service was terrible. We waited 35 minutes for a waiter to come to our table and the only reason we got one was the manager had walked by and seen me looking for another place to eat on my phone. The wine was quite a bit more than the web site menu had listed. Once we had a waiter the service was ok but still slow. To top it all off when we paid my card and another tables were mixed up. We were told the manager had mixed them up. If the manager would have seemed to care more that would have gone a long way but he did not.
We will not be going back.
Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable on the various drinks and menu items. I was not impressed by the oyster. We ordered one dozen gulf oyster. Two were milky and simply dissolved. Three were frozen and stuck to the shell. I had a mojito which was fairly watered down. My date had beers. The lobster bisque and shrimp/grits entree was delicious; however overall I was not extremely impressed to make Nick's a place we would frequent.
The food was decent, but the service was HORRIBLE. We had to ask for silverware, drink orders multiple times, and food items that were supposed to come with the meal but were just completely left off the plate. Our server was nowhere to be found numerous times.
To start off it took a short while for the hostess to seat us. I had made a reservation on open table and it was not received by nicks but they had extra tables. It also took a while for our waiter to appear although there was plenty walking around. Atmosphere was nice and food was good just not much of it for the price. May try it again but if everything is the same the second go around it will be the last.
