Upon being seated we were advised it would be 45 minutes for the kitchen to prepare food. We purchased drinks and left. Our particular table was VERY brightly lit. Our server was overwhelmed.
Nicks has potential but unfortunately we won't go back.
Our waitress was terrible she had a bad attitude I was out of water for over 20 minutes finally had to ask another waiter for a refill waited over 40 minutes for our food which wasn't very good. Waitress never came back that ask us if we needed anything will never go back
The food was good but the service was terrible. We waited 35 minutes for a waiter to come to our table and the only reason we got one was the manager had walked by and seen me looking for another place to eat on my phone. The wine was quite a bit more than the web site menu had listed. Once we had a waiter the service was ok but still slow. To top it all off when we paid my card and another tables were mixed up. We were told the manager had mixed them up. If the manager would have seemed to care more that would have gone a long way but he did not.
We will not be going back.
Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable on the various drinks and menu items. I was not impressed by the oyster. We ordered one dozen gulf oyster. Two were milky and simply dissolved. Three were frozen and stuck to the shell. I had a mojito which was fairly watered down. My date had beers. The lobster bisque and shrimp/grits entree was delicious; however overall I was not extremely impressed to make Nick's a place we would frequent.
The food was decent, but the service was HORRIBLE. We had to ask for silverware, drink orders multiple times, and food items that were supposed to come with the meal but were just completely left off the plate. Our server was nowhere to be found numerous times.
Convenient location on Waterway. Food is good and there is enough variety to please most anyone. Found the price point to be a good value for what you get. Overall enjoyed the dinner. Will return.
The food is always very good and the service is exceptional! Nice location and good views from the patio.
To start off it took a short while for the hostess to seat us. I had made a reservation on open table and it was not received by nicks but they had extra tables. It also took a while for our waiter to appear although there was plenty walking around. Atmosphere was nice and food was good just not much of it for the price. May try it again but if everything is the same the second go around it will be the last.
By far the worst service and food all around worst dining experience in a long time. I hate to leave such a damming review but I don't want anyone else to waste a nice family night out on such a terrible restaurant. It will shut down in less than 6 months guaranteed.
My family went there for the first time and we had a good time. The food was good, the service was friendly and prompt. We will def be back. The menu is just big enough to have some variety, but not too big to get lost in the menu. They do a few things but they do them well.
The food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. I highly recomend this restaurant
I took my wife on Valentines day and I am a bit disappointed because when I booked the table 3 days ago, No one mentioned today was going to be a set menu and an expensive one at $78 per person for an appetizer (one for 2 people), a main plate and a shared dessert.
If I had known this I would not have gone there.
Oysters were excellent. Mahi Mahi was so-so, but not great. Don't bother with the lobster roll - it's more like a $20 salad sandwich with almost no lobster (Very disappointing).Might give this place one more shot, but will definitely try something else on the menu next time.
The name is appropriate. Fish and more in a relaxed atmosphere. Service was fantastic!
Food was ok . Service was terrible. The waitress was all over the place and could never find her to ask for something. We saw her working on tables inside and outside of the restaurant. We saw another couple complain then they left because waitress never would come check to see what they wanted to order.
Had a great time having dinner here. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a great time having dinner here :)
Excellent meals by all. Good service. Highly recommend.
We had a great view over the waterway and the the water fountain area. Our food was delicious and our service was attentive and friendly.
Very good oysters. It's more of a bar than a restaurant so the menu selection is not too big.
Great value, Great Dishes, Great Service
Was there for happy hour. While the happy hour food was good, there appears to be significant differences in the menu prices versus what you get charged. For example, The menu states well drinks three dollars. I asked the waiter if a Bloody Mary was included as a well drink. He indicated it was. However, I was charged eight dollars instead of three dollars. When questioned, the waiter indicated eight dollars was wrong but said that Bloody Mary drinks are five dollars due to the Bloody Mary mix. When I received the corrected bill, I was charged six dollars. Gave up and just paid the bill. The table next to us also experienced different pricing for oysters then advertised. Will see if this establishment bothers to reach out or changes its menu to be more accurate.
The Mahi Mahi was over cooked. The service by Josh was excellent. Sitting out on the deck drinking Bruce Wayne Chardonnay was great.
Every time I go to Nick's I am always pleasantly surprised by the experience. From the the person that greets you, to the ambiance, to the food -- it is all good. The chef even stopped by our table and told us about the next incredible culinary feat he is going to introduce. We are hooked on Nick's Fish Dive. Try it sometime.
Great evening with my wife. Our server was excellent, had a good knowledge of oysters (one of the main items they pride themselves on) as well as a good knowledge of the menu and draft beer/wine list. The cooked oysters were lovely and the trout stuffed with crab & shrimp excellent. The flight of draft beers/ale was a great touch. A relaxing atmosphere for a very pleasant date with your better half.
If you do not mind waiting twenty minutes for just someone to take your drinks order, if you do not mind waiting another 1/2 hour to then have your food order taken and another 45 minutes before your appetizers and or dinner arrives - then maybe this is your kind of place. If you are looking for a proper resturant, where you are waited on and properly treated, then avoid this place. Maybe it was an off night at Nick's but I am not willing to try it a second time to find out.
The oysters were great and the ahi tuna salad was fantastic.
We ate at Nicks fish dive for brunch. It was a beautiful day and we sat outside highly recommended. We had oysters and shrimp for an appetizer which was delicious. I had the lobster roll, my husband had the fish and chips. My daughter had chicken and waffles. Everyone praised the food. We had unlimited mimosas which was a value at $9.00. I highly recommend for brunch, will try to come for dinner next time
Great table on the deck overlooking Waterway Square, good service.
After a rough start (no waiter for about 10 minutes) we had a great time. The waiter assigned to our table was fabulous and knew everything about the menu. We really enjoyed talking to him about Florida. My husband loved the Sea Bass and char grilled oysters. I loved the Cat Fish basket and we both had great wine. I highly recommend Nicks for a great date night.
OMG second time going to Nick's and this time we took friends. Everyone enjoyed the drinks and the food. Sea Bass was out of this world -- talk about melt in your mouth. And the oysters were phenomenal. We will be back for sure.
My husband and I dined in the patio because it was so cold inside having come in from the rain. The host was very accommodating and our server provided great service. View/ambiance is beautiful, overlooking the Waterway square. We selected from the Hiuston Restaurant Week menu and also had beer and scotch. Everything taste great. Would definitely come back and dine again.
The tuna ahi tartare was good, as were the crab cakes, but none of our entrees were. The mussels were quite small and over cooked, as was the two grilled salmons. Ordered asparagus as a side dish and was surprised to only get 4 very skinny ones. We did complain and we were brought 6 more! Still skinny, but tasty.
Maybe a bad night, but will not go back. :(
The oysters were the very best as was the bucket of shrimp. Great appetizer of crab cakes and a kale salad. Has a wonderful experience.
It was lovely place to have a quiet date. We loved the oysters. We got the gulf oysters; they were and huge! The wine list was good. Drinks are a bit pricey as well- so went with the glass of wine. Delicious -would go again... was just a bit pricey. It Was worth it though . There really is not any other place in the woodlands to grab fresh oysters.
The food was ok, the service was very good. We tried it for Houston Restaurant week
Some miscommunication on order which resulted in a less than great dinner result, but overall enjoyed
Would return once the weather cools and eat outside VERY loud
Food was good
My husband and I shared the Ceviche, the Ahi Tuna and the fish tacos. Everything was delicious. This is now my favorite seafood restaurant ❤
First time here...Nothing to write home about...a bit pricy for what you get... great for an expense account or people who don't travel to areas of the country which have fresh seafood... It's not bad just not over the top on our visit...could have just been that day
