Great food and service
One of our favorite restaurants. They will customize the menu and their waitstaff is the best!
The ambiance and place looks great, but the drinks are sub-par! They don’t have high end liquor and the drinks they made (martinis) were watery. The Poke didn’t taste fresh and the oysters weren’t shucked fresh (the expensive ones!) so the price is $32 for a dozen North East oysters and they just weren’t shucked fresh like they should be.
Great deals on oysters! Beautiful view of the waterway. Staff is very accomodating.
Great fish and chips, large portion, single piece of cod which makes a great change from 'cod pieces' in the locality, and proper malt vinegar, plus half price as well, what a winner!
We enjoyed our first experience there. Definitely pricey (it is on the waterway), but the food was good. Golf Oyster happy hour price is great, and so were the Oysters.
Best waiter we’ve had in a loooooooong time
Service, drinks, and oysters were fantastic. Food was pretty good.
Good food and good service. Menu has so many good selections it's hard to choose.
The fish and chips was not only over priced but the fish was really greasy and the French fries were dry. My boyfriend had the fried catfish basket and he didn’t rate his meal, either! It also took 20 minutes to get the check, and they weren’t even that busy!
The outdoor seating is nice but we would choose another restaurant next time!
Service was reasonable. Crab cakes were the highlight of my meal, the butterfly shrimp hadn’t been cleaned properly and had a strong chlorine taste. The banana pudding was tasteless and just looked like mashed banana in cream with no pudding element to it. Wasn’t really value for money.
We started with a dozen raw oysters and the lobster poutine, and both were delicious. Our server suggested the north east oyster varieties and we really liked his choices. For our mains, my wife had the fish tacos and I had the crab cakes (an appetizer on the menu). My wife loved the fish tacos but I was disappointed with the crab cakes. They're normally served with a cilantro sauce, but I asked to leave that off as I'm not a fan of cilantro. What was left was something that tasted like a hush puppy with a lot of tarragon added to it. If there was any crab in there, its taste was completely covered up by the tarragon.
In spite of the crab cakes, we liked our dinner. The service was great. We didn't feel rushed even if we took our time trying to get at the last bit of gravy in the poutine. It wasn't a bargain, but the price seemed fair and reasonable, particularly given the setting right on the Waterway.
The food was so delicious ! Love the outdoor view !
Excellent oysters and fish tacos. Not impressed with some of our mixed drinks however. Service and atmosphere are great!
Went to Nick's for a birthday/Christmas combo celebration. Hostess was very fast, kind and helpful. Service was quick and attentive. Food was excellent, especially the oysters as one would expect. Very fresh. We ate and ate with good cocktails. bucket of shrimp is good value. Could use more local craft beers.
View of the Waterway from the patio is great, but inside seating is also good as the décor is nice.
Will be back!
The atmosphere is nice. Just is ok, similar to restaurants in the area
Spent an enjoyable Friday evening at Nick's. Both the grilled and raw oysters were a delicious appetizer. My redfish was delicious and my dining companion's gumbo was delicious as well. Their homemade spicy mix in the Bloody Mary made it one of the finest Bloody Mary's I have ever had. The service was good initially, but flaked out the last 1/3 of the evening. I've dined at most of the top restaurants in the area and think Nick's have overpriced themselves.
Had dinner there last night. Food was good. we had the Lobster Poutine for an appetizer at the recommendation of our waiter it was delicious. My Husband had the fish tacos and he really liked them. I had the steamed mussels and they were good as well. We will be back to try the raw oysters.
Excellent food. The fish tacos are outstanding. Tonight I ordered a side of collard greens that were on another dish. Wow were they delicious. Our guests ordered mussels and the fried oyster sandwich. They raved about the mussels but noted that ‘the sandwich was heavy on the bread (thick bread). Such a good place. The food is consistently good. Will be back again.
Service was excellent and the food was really good as usual. However, the prices are too high for this area. If these stay at this level, Nick's won't make it. It was Friday night and not close to an expected crowd.
Not very good.
We asked to be seated on the deck which was very nice. We could hear the fountains nearby.
But the food was just not very good. My husband and our friend both got the fried shrimp and oysters. Just kinda dry and tasteless. I had the lobster roll which was saturated in dressing and had a strong herb flavor. Couldn't really taste the lobster for everything else that was going on in the roll.
Service was good.
Everything was made from scratch... Biscuits and gravy, scratch... Chicken & Waffles, amazing batter and obviously made from scratch. Bottomless mimosas btw!
Their menu has changed a few times, but that just keeps them creative. We ordered soul food most places serve, but they don’t do it like these guys.
We’ll be back
Lovely evening We will be Back.
Staff was extremely gracious. Great ambience overlooking the river walk. Food was delicious!
The oysters were cold and salty; ideal for early in the season and post-Harvey. We particularly enjoyed the octopus /scallop salad. A real treat. Oh, did I mention the perfect martini up front.
Food was very good. Server was very nice as well. Would love to see a bit more Variety of Oysters.
Only reason I did not give food more than 3 stars is because their on line menu is nothing like the actual menu. There were 3 dishes I was interested in but not one of them was on the actual menu. Very disappointed. The waiter said their web designer did not do her job well. Need to make a change then or add dishes back to menu.
The first time I dined here was for Mother’s Day brunch and the food and service were great. The second time was for dinner and I must say, I was a little disappointed. The service was slow, and the food was mediocre. Oysters were just okay as I expected more from an oyster bar. I will give it another try.
The oysters were out of this world!! Had the stuffed salmon and it was amazing!!! Tried the husbands grits and didn't want to stop eating them!!!
Raw oysters good and reasonably priced. Rest of food was poor. Certainly the worst food in the woodlands I have had.
The food was very good but the service was poor. The restaurant was busy but we still felt waiting an hour for our main course was excessive. The manager was apologetic and did knock something off our bill to make up for it.
Unfortunately we left without eating. We waited 15 minutes and was not acknowledge. We had reservations and the table wasn't suitable for 4 with a high chair
Good restaurant with a creative menu. They do not have Beefeaters Gin which is bad.
Excellent food and wine / beer list. Due to their busy Sunday brunch, they were out of some menu options, but they worked with us and found excellent, delicious options. Locally owned, not a chain which is nice.
Beautiful restaurant but the atmosphere was strange, appetizer was not good, expensive cocktails for the size.
We saw many different people seating & serving tables and it wasn't busy at all.
The background music was not very appealing and they had MMA fighting on the television...we even left with a couple fighting loudly at their table!
It was ok, but not as great as it has been. This place has been a favorite for awhile and something seems to have changed recently. Please get back to where you once were.
Reservation and special occasion noted on reservation was not acknowledged when we walked in. Was on a Sunday, so not busy at all. Restaurant is touted as an Oyster Bar, only 3 different oysters advertised that day but only 2 types of oysters were available. Waiter said they hadn't received their delivery yet. I like the different types of beer offerings to pair with oysters however one of the beers was not available and if I had ordered the flight with oyster pairing, it could not be fulfilled. I do want to point out the atmosphere was very relaxing and our waiter was fantastic with his service. My main course of stuffed trout was very good. I'd like to revisit again, when they have more oysters to select from and beer to pair with.
Everyone really enjoyed their entrees and the service was very good.
The menu looks good but unfortunately the flavor left much to be desired. I tried the gumbo which was not good at all. The oysters were pretty good and was definitely the best thing I had however the lobster tail seemed to lack flavor. I live in Providence and the New England area so maybe my standards were too high.
Everything was wonderful nice view to the waterfront good service
