Nick Ryan's Saloon Ratings and Reviews
Saturday brunch was delicious! There are few places to get Maryland style egg Benedict in Lexington, but Nick Ryan’s has it! The portion size of the crab cakes was perfect and there was a wonderful Bloody Mary bar. We will definitely come back. If you’re in town for any reason, this should be on your short list of stops for brunch, lunch, dinner, and or drinks.
My wife and I went for dinner on Valentines. Absolutely no dedicated parking. I was informed beforehand that they would be having a modified menu. The appetizers were wonderful but the entrees were average at best. This was our first time and we will not be going back.
Food was delicious. Had 3 course “special” Valentines menu which had many of their regular dishes at a much higher price than usual. Only had 3 Dessert choices none of which were great...you could only get either tiaramasu, 2 chocolate covered strawberries, or red velvet heart. Red velvet was more like a cookie with cream in the middle,so it was better than expected. Overall highly suggest going, just not on Valentines Day. Dinner for two (without alcohol) & tip was $130.
Our first visit to Nick Ryans. The food was delicious. My girlfriend liked her meal so much she wants to go back soon to revisit the flavor (Chicken Roulade). It was a weeknight so thereal wasn't a large crowd, it was so easy to hear each other. The atmosphere was great for a long overdue date night as well as a birthday. The drinks were on spot, perfectly balanced. Not too strong, not too weak. Our server, Ivy, was fantastic. She was incredibly helpful with menu suggestions and was super attentive. She made our experience that much better. We don't get to venture out that often so we like to try new places. Nick Ryan's is definitely on our list of places we'll return to in the future.
Two of us ordered the Rossi's Pasta. Horrible. Menu listed shiitake mushrooms and proscuitto, we got button mushrooms and regular ham with an obscene amount of red onions and very little pasta or flavor but served in so much liquid it was almost a soup; awful. My husband's NY strip steak was dry and overcooked. The other person in our party ordered the pork chop and said he liked it but I think he was just being polite. I found it to be rather overpriced for the less than mediocre meal we received and we were very disappointed. We were with some friends from out of town and I was actually embarrassed to have brought them there. We will never be returning and I can't recommend it in good conscience. Honestly we paid $150 for a meal I wouldn't pay $15 for. However, our server was a very polite young man and did a good job.
Chose this place off of Open Table and it was a perfect choice. My husband had the signature, award winning pork chop and I had the salmon. Both were cooked to perfection. Service was terrific and the ambiance was great. When we go back to Lexington we will definitely go to Nick Ryan's for a meal !
The reason I had not received the restaurant is that it was the first time I didn't have good food; the steak I got (at this point, I cannot remember but I think it was flank steak) was really tough and not tender. I didn't want to complain because we were with friends and he didn't complain about his. I can't remember the dish's name; it was almost stated like a barbecue dish is all I can remember. (Sorry; it's been a month!)
Found this restaurant while driving in down town Lexington. Looked very inviting. Decided, to make reservations. Was not disappointed. Greeted cordially, seated in the bar area. Waitress, introduced herself and it was the beginning to a great meal, prompt and courteous service. The meal was delicious. Hidden treasure in downtown. Foodies will enjoy.
Very disappointed in the Rossi's pasta. Had a different yet lackluster taste. Shrimp wraps were good as always. Very concerned that this menu will not be able to keep up the pace in this town. We have been going there since it opened and this is very sad. This is not the first disappointment. On a brighter note our server Morgan was a delight!
My first time there--took the office staff. Allen the server was outstanding. Appetizers good, price good, food good, service time good. Again, Allen was the best. No noise when we first came in but as it filled up, some noise but not enough that I couldn't hear my table mates. I despise loud restaurants so this fits the bill for me for lunch.
When we first arrived the hostess was nothing short of rude! We were a party of six and was greeted by an annoyed hostess. I had Specified that we were there for a birthday. They never once acknowledged or said one word about it. I even mention it to our waiter a couple times and he still did not do anything. Also, all the tables around us received a bread before their meal. We were not offered any or given any. Mind you, my husband was drinking $25 glasses of pappy van winkle so it’s not like we weren’t spending money. The service was mediocre at best
They were out of almost everything that we ordered. The 2 wines we picked they didn't have, the appetizer we ordered they were out of and the dinner I chose (which there aren't many to pick from) was not in stock either.
However, the appetizer we got was good and the Filet & Mahi were tasty!
My first experience here. We had the shrimp and grits and the mahi-mahi and they were good. The sashimi app was delish. Unfortunately our server did not inform us of the specials and when the neighboring table received their entrees the beef wellington may have been my choice instead. Overall 7/10. Worth a try.
We always love Nick Ryan's for any special occasion. My wife will almost pick NR's every year for her birthday. I will never disagree because they have the best Hot Brown in the city IMO!!!! Always a very relaxed atmosphere although this night the uk football game was on and we were sitting in the bar area and some diners were apparently fans of the city school (they lost) and were cheering so, what can ya do??? We are never disappointed in the food or the service, top notch!
