Nick Ryan's Saloon Ratings and Reviews
Chose this place off of Open Table and it was a perfect choice. My husband had the signature, award winning pork chop and I had the salmon. Both were cooked to perfection. Service was terrific and the ambiance was great. When we go back to Lexington we will definitely go to Nick Ryan's for a meal !
Found this restaurant while driving in down town Lexington. Looked very inviting. Decided, to make reservations. Was not disappointed. Greeted cordially, seated in the bar area. Waitress, introduced herself and it was the beginning to a great meal, prompt and courteous service. The meal was delicious. Hidden treasure in downtown. Foodies will enjoy.
Very disappointed in the Rossi's pasta. Had a different yet lackluster taste. Shrimp wraps were good as always. Very concerned that this menu will not be able to keep up the pace in this town. We have been going there since it opened and this is very sad. This is not the first disappointment. On a brighter note our server Morgan was a delight!
My first time there--took the office staff. Allen the server was outstanding. Appetizers good, price good, food good, service time good. Again, Allen was the best. No noise when we first came in but as it filled up, some noise but not enough that I couldn't hear my table mates. I despise loud restaurants so this fits the bill for me for lunch.
When we first arrived the hostess was nothing short of rude! We were a party of six and was greeted by an annoyed hostess. I had Specified that we were there for a birthday. They never once acknowledged or said one word about it. I even mention it to our waiter a couple times and he still did not do anything. Also, all the tables around us received a bread before their meal. We were not offered any or given any. Mind you, my husband was drinking $25 glasses of pappy van winkle so it’s not like we weren’t spending money. The service was mediocre at best
They were out of almost everything that we ordered. The 2 wines we picked they didn't have, the appetizer we ordered they were out of and the dinner I chose (which there aren't many to pick from) was not in stock either.
However, the appetizer we got was good and the Filet & Mahi were tasty!
My first experience here. We had the shrimp and grits and the mahi-mahi and they were good. The sashimi app was delish. Unfortunately our server did not inform us of the specials and when the neighboring table received their entrees the beef wellington may have been my choice instead. Overall 7/10. Worth a try.
We always love Nick Ryan's for any special occasion. My wife will almost pick NR's every year for her birthday. I will never disagree because they have the best Hot Brown in the city IMO!!!! Always a very relaxed atmosphere although this night the uk football game was on and we were sitting in the bar area and some diners were apparently fans of the city school (they lost) and were cheering so, what can ya do??? We are never disappointed in the food or the service, top notch!
I have been to NR's 4 x and my husband 3 and each and every time we have had a fantastic meal, but last Saturday was even more impressive. Three family members from out of town joined us after a day at Keeneland and they were very impressed with the ambiance, overall feel of the place, the service and the food. They loved the fried chicken, but I thought my salmon was superior. I would definitely order the salmon again! The grits are not to be missed! Ask them to substitute the grits for the rice. Love this place. Will definitely go back.
Absolutely fabulous! The food was outstanding. Service was perfect. One could ask for nothing better. I would eat here every evening if I lived in Lexington! In fact, next time we are here we are going to try and eat here! Truly, one of my favorite all time restaurants!
Nick Ryan’s is our go to for special occasions. We love the Jefferson Street area and are always treated so well here. We ALL (6 of us) cleaned our plates like we have never before! I had the Mahi and must say it was a party in my mouth with each bite! Two at our table couldn’t get over the shrimp and grits, saying best they have ever had, the presentation was beautiful. Same with the fish fry. Our daughter loved her filet minon and her boyfriend the brisket. It was a wonderful evening and we highly recommend.
Dined early. Out of one of the advertised side dishes. No seasoning to speak of on steak, mashed, or asparagus. Tried Nick Ryan's instead of where we intended to dine on the referral of a colleague. We determined that we should have spent the extra $20 each and gone to the steak house we had originally chose. Service was slow, waiter was very nice but disappeared for a long period of time. Not horrible but not a place we would go back.
I've been to Nick Ryan's several times and this experience was the absolute best. When we arrived, we were greeted and seated immediately. The entire restaurant was packed, but that did not hinder the service. The waitress was great and very attentive even though she had several larger groups. The food arrived very quickly, but we did not feel rushed to finish our meal and leave. My group had great food, great drinks, and great conversation. I would recommend to anyone!
FOOD was excellent.. six of us each ordered different dish and all were very tasty!
Our waiter was awesome.... very attentive to our table through out the meal. Great selection
only negative .... when coffee arrived, it was COLD. Quickly brought us a fresh perked pot!
Wait staff seemed to be on top of their game as they helped each other out continuously with orders, and keeping water glasses filled.
Great place to eat, fun environment!
Would highly recommend Nick Ryan's Saloon.
My husband and I went to Nick Ryan's for our anniversary last night. The food was delicious. Somehow we got a lackluster waiter. He cared more for the table behind us talk about Bourbon. Than he did our table. I felt like we were an after thought for him. Maybe we should have ordered Buffalo Trace Bourbon.
It was my father-in-law’s 96th birthday and we decided to take him to one of our favorite places in Lexington. At 96 he’s seen a lot and eaten at a lot of places so sometimes hard to please BUT Nick Ryan’s was able to deliver to him a wonderful meal and birthday dessert. As always Victoria and the staff at NR’s was superb and the food.....what can I say other than stellar and delicious as always. We had a variety of entrees Fried Fish-Brisket-Rossi’s Pasta-Fried Chicken and my favorite Blackened Mahi.
Thank you for another wonderful meal and we will always be back soon.
Make reservation especially during Keeneland because it is always busy!
