Try Nick Ryan's famous burger, Southwest Grilled Chicken Salad, Salmon with Jasmine Rice and fresh vegetables for lunch. Dinner entrées include Blackened Mahi-Mahi, Chicken Roulade, Shrimp & Grits, Filet and many more. Nick Ryan's also offers fun items like an open-faced sandwich known as the "Hot Brown," a signature Kentucky dish stacked high with turkey, ham and bacon and drenched in Mornay sauce. If you find yourself feeling extra indulgent, you can finish your meal off with a decadent dessert martini.
Love the patio and excellent service.
never disappointed here...steaks cooked to perfection, great wine list. Service is prompt/professional. Menu is varietal and they usually offer a special or two. Broccoli Cheddar soup was excellent. Nick's is not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for here The porch is nice, facing Jefferson street for evening dining.
We ate on the covered patio on Monday evening. Service was fine, food was good. Patio was nice!
Maybe just a bad night. Our waitress was slow, dirty cups, waited 15min to get another drink, cold baked potato. They ended up taking one dinner off the bill which we appreciated But didn’t ask for...Just not a good experience.
I believe that we had a very unlucky experience at Nick Ryan's. This cannot be the norm for this restaurant or there is no way they could possibly stay in business. We went for a family celebration, and we were happy to be there and excited about the meal.
After being seated on time and ordering drinks and appetizers, everything went downhill. Our waitress disappeared. We didn't order our entrees for another 45 minutes. We had to flag down other wait staff to get drink refills and we practically had to beg for bread. The problem is that we weren't told anything; we were just ignored. It was dumbfounding to sit in a restaurant of this caliber and price point and feel shunned by the staff. Eventually, we were given three different excuses (emergency in the kitchen, patio full, lost order), and perhaps all three of those things happened. The diners around us did not seem to have the same problem, however, as these tables turned over during our visit and those diners appeared to get bread, food, and drinks in a timely manner.
The manager did apologize after we approached her about the service and delay. She took the price of the entrees (half of which were incorrect, when they finally arrived) off of our bill. The big issue here was communication and customer service: no one told us what was going on, and no one did anything to make the extreme delay bearable. If our waitress had explained the situation, if they had provided good service during the wait, if they had shown that they cared at all about our experience, everything would have been different. As it was, is was a miserable meal.
I cannot in good conscience recommend Nick Ryan's to anyone. I wish we had gone somewhere else.
Cool spot...not uptight, but had good food at a very reasonable price. We will definitely be taking some friends back with us.
As always, Nick Ryan’s was the perfect Lexington restaurant to take my friends for and end of the school year celebration! The bruschetta appetizer was a nice blend of mozzarella and tomatoes on bread with a balsamic reduction that got our tastebuds excited for dinner! For our meals, we had the crab cakes (always the best in town), spicy shrimp (a new favorite), fried chicken (cooked to perfection) and a few other yummy dishes. Everything tasted delicious to the very last bite! The service was so excellent that we decided to come back for drinks and dessert after dinner. Listen you guys, those desserts...just wow. The scoops of tiramisu and Nutella brownies were EVERYTHING. The brownie is huge but the cheesecake specials were on point, so you can’t go wrong. Basically, never hesitate to go to Nick Ryan’s.
A Lexington gem! Nick Ryan's was the perfect location for entertaining our candidates. It suits our city perfectly and the food is always stellar. Another satisfied group!
We originally booked dinner for 2, but had a party of 4 from out of town join us last minute. The restaurant were very accommodating of us and everyone had a great evening.
Food was simple, delicious and plentiful and a good showcase of local Lexington.
Would highly recommend the sausage crostini and the crab cakes.
The buffalo dip with pits chips were out of this world amazing. My entree was the shrimp and grits and was beyond delicious. I cannot imagine my next trip to Lexington without going to Nick Ryan’s.
The service was great and the food was delicious!
Great atmosphere.... excellent service! Very tasty dishes!
This place has wonderful food and a fun vibe. They were in the middle of a Craft Beer Dinner for Lexington Beer Week when we went, so it was a little louder than it probably normally is. Even with it being that busy, the wait staff was super kind and on top of everything. First time visiting Nick Ryan's for dinner, and it won't be the last.
Fantastic dining experience; food was excellent as was the service.
Such a great location for a date night. Our server was wonderful and we never had to look around for refills, etc. the food was also amazing. I had the crab cakes and it was way better than expected. We also really love the ambience of the restaurant. We can't wait to eat on the patio when it gets warmer!
It was my mother and I, first time eating there. I was taking my mother to dinner there for a early Mother's Day gift. Before, I took her to musical play at the Opera House that evening. We both agreed that the food at Nick Ryan's saloon was great and that we will return again when she comes back to visit me.
The food was not at all what I expected based on prior reviews. Fries came out cold, shrimp and grits was greasy and just slipped in the bowl. The fried chicken was 2 boneless breasts covered in gravy so the weren’t crispy at all. Just dry and rubbery. I would NOT recommend it at all unless you just want a beer and cold fries.
The food was great, but our appetizer that we ordered never came out. We asked about it when our entrees came out & then it finally made its way to our table. We love the food and atmosphere, but could've had better service.
Our server Stacy was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable of menu ingredients. The dishes were modern, delicious and affordable. Great location and ambiance.
We were in town for the races at Keeneland. Had a 5:15 reservation and our table was ready and waiting when we arrived. Our server was great and the food was delicious! This is the second time I have been to Nick Ryan’s and I definitely plan to return!
Menu offered many delicious options, and our waitress was very helpful on making the right choices. I ordered the Pork Chop and LOVED it.
enjoyed apetizers and drinks and food-a nice evening!
Usually we stop here when we are in town. They have changed the menu but have not updated their website, so some of our favorites are no longer available...Tuna tartar and the calamari. Probably won't be going back there are many more options in Lexington.
Nick Ryan's is a must stop for us when visiting from New Hampshire. Service is always great and food is always delicious. Always look forward to our next visit in Kentucky!
Great waiter and fantastic food! The patio was so relaxing!
Great food, great service as always!!
Great service and food. Will be back.
Everything was great! Was on time crunch to get to a concert and they were awesome.
Quaint, good service, nice mood, artsy, would definitely recommend and go again!
Service was excellent. Loved the atmosphere. Had the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. Potatoes and beans were warm...not hot. Was told the chicken would be two white pieces, but one was white and one dark.
Excellent all around.
We were so disappointed. Appetizers served cold. Waiter came to nearby tables but ignored us and we could not get his attention. Waited 45 minutes for entrees and they were served cold. Waiter never checked on us so we just ate it. The salmon was bland and filets flavorless. When we left, we noticed other tables had bread. We were never offered bread. Lousy experience.
4 people, 4 different meals. All very good: filet mignon, shrimp and grits, Cajun shrimp poboy, rosemary chicken. Will definitely return.
Very pleasant experience. Our waitress was appropriately attentive and very cordial. Our food was prepared exactly as requested, beautifully plated and very tasty. A wonderful evening with great friends.
The place was full of Louisville Cardinal fans, there for the woman NCAA tourney. The shrimp and grits were very good and the fried chicken was very good..drinks were reasonable . just a few blocks from Rupp Arena. would go again when in Lexington Ky.
It was a wonderful dining experience. We will return!
Get the HOT BROWN
We went for brunch for my dad’s birthday. I have been there many times but never for brunch. Great mimosas, bloody Mary’s, and the eggs Benedict was awesome!
Our waitress was very sweet and did a great job. I wish I could remember her name. I had salmon on the spinach salad which was AWESOME!! This was our first time to your restaurant with some out of town friends. I will definitely be back!
Good service, good food and no rush. Table was reAdy upon arrival, cheerful hostess seated us. A pleasant experience. We will go back.
The food was good and the service was outstanding!
