Nick & Sam's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Overall I had received many reccomendations to this place and it lived up to everything I expected. The steaks were amazing, sushi was to die for, service was impeccable. Could of been more personable being it was our anniversary but still very romantic setting
I chose Nick and Sam’s for my husband’s birthday due to the rave reviews for birthday celebrations. They didn’t do anything, despite me informing them more than once. The food was pretty good. The service was also alright. It just seemed that we were blown off after we didn’t bite on every $100 upgrade the server offered. I wasn’t aware that a $200 tab wasn’t worth good service.
The service was very slow and not good at all. The bathrooms were HORRIBLE. We told management and nothing got cleaned up. Their excuse was it was busy. That should be expected on a Saturday night. To me the bathroom is also a reflection on the kitchen cleanliness.
Terribly disappointing and shocked at the positive reviews! We have gone twice in the last 5 months, once after our engagement bringing a group of 8 and last week for my fiancees birthday dinner. Both times we left underwhelmed. This last week we experienced horrendous service where the waitress not only had a rude attitude and little information to share on the menu, but rushed every course. They rushed it so much so, in fact, that as I made my way through my rubbery scallop entree, they whisked my fiancees plate away and presented him the dessert menu. The server proceeded to come back 3 minutes later (while I was mid-chew) to ask if he cared for a dessert. While it was his birthday meal and we had planned on getting a cake slice we politely declined and later wish we had shared how rude this rushing was. The entrees left much to be desired; the Chilean Sea Bass special was so overly salty , my fiancee who never complains about food could barely finish. My scallops were poorly cooked and lacked any flavor. The minimal pros include a decent crab cake, solid Brussels sprout side and an amazing Bordeaux offering by the glass. We ordered the giant carrot cake slice after our engagement and while it was quite novel for the size along, the taste was mediocre. The atmosphere is dark and unique, though not conducive to seeing your menu easily. The servers literally carry flashlights to help you read the menu. Also, the menus are far too wide when you extend them so be prepared to knock elbows with everyone at your table. The menu itself flows poorly. You will find the core menu on the first page while specials, cocktails and the wine list are oddly intermixed in the last pages. We are thoroughly disappointed after our 2 visits. We regularly visit Truluck's which has exquisite service, atmosphere and a heavenly Chilean Sea Bass entree and carrot cake. We have a dinner planned at Truluck's later this week and intend to frequent there and Bob's only moving forward!
Food was absolutely delicious. The kitchen service was very quick. The place feels very snooty. Prices were clearly labeled in the menu however, when we ordered we were reminded the prices. When we ordered dessert, we were also reminded the price. I may have misread the situation, but it felt like they were concerned we couldn't afford the restaurant or perhaps didn't belong in the restaurant. We loved the food, but are hesitant to go back.
I had the "normal" filet and it was perfect. Love their sides. I even loved the ceasar salad. I came with someone who is into gourmet food. He had one of the really expensive (order by the ounce) steaks that you can't get anywhere else in Dallas. Most places that say they have Wagyu have meat that is only half Wagu breed as no one in the US has ever been allowed to have a female (only bulls). He lingered and savored every bite. I tasted it and although I can't afford it, I would buy it in a heartbeat if I could. It was AMAZING!!
We went for a birthday dinner. We had reservations for 8:30pm and did not get sat until past 10 pm!! Fine dining prices for bad service. Watched hostess taking bribes for people to get seated with no reservation before us.
Was disappointed. I used to love this place and was excited to take my son out for a good meal. Everything we ordered was sub-par except for the mac and cheese. We ordered lobster (was ok), crab cakes (very fishy tasting), rock shrimp (VERY salty and not much flavour...thus the salt), and Japanese Wagyu (I have had it in Japan, and this was just not that good...$40 per oz, so you expect it to be good).
Anyway...I used to love this place, but i will not be back anytime soon. Service was great as always. Just bad food.
My wife and I reserved a table there for our 5th year Anniversary. It was extremely loud and table was very small. We had to request the be moved to a quieter area with a larger table because of the noise. The steak was bland and had an extreme amount of fat. Overall the experience was fair not great.
I have been to Nick & Sam's several times and am never disappointed. The Tuna Tar Tar tower was excellent and was served with a cotton candy topping, peanut ponzu sauce and crispy wantons. We also had the filet which was cooked to perfection and the au gratin potatoes, steamed broccoli and sweet potato puree. I love the new menu additions including the Gluten free menu options which included gluten free desserts.
Drinks were terrific. Service from Gabriel was great. Nice wine list. Yummy, fresh wedge salad.
Ribeye steak was wonderful and prepared just right. Lobster Mac & cheese and Brussel sprouts were underwhelming and would not order again.
The carrot cake was very good too!
Stuffed and cramped room. Looked like a corporate dining room with an unbearable noise level.
Caesar salad was so salty I couldn’t eat it. The steak had no flavor, dry and chewy. It was one that they bring to the table and try to push.
We were so looking forward to a wonderful Texas Steak House and we were terribly disappointed.
Nick and Sam's was very nice. From the moment we walked in the energy of the building and other diners was amazing. It was our first time here but our waiter Steve made sure thatit wasn't out last. First, he walked us through the whole menu. Secondly, afterwards he asked aboit dietary concerns to ensure that he could lead us in the right direvtion5. Lastly, not only do they bring out a nice cake and lil surprise for birthdays upon request; but everyone in the restaurant were clapping, cheering and so generous to my fiance on his birthday. I loved it and so did he.
As for the food, I had the Texas red fish and it was delicious. Words can't explain the green verde sauce. He had a dried aged bone in sirloin and lovedddd it. Overall, the experience here was a good one one I'll definitely come back.
I loved everything about the steakhouse. The food, the waiters, the kindness, the ambiance, and just about everything else, too. Definitely recommended for any special occasion including birthday. A birthday never to forget! (Especially the birthday confetti on the table)
