Nick & Sam's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Nick and Sams - so consistently amazing! Their beef is melt in your mouth tender and always exceptional quality. Wine list is impressive-I could easily find all my favorites. Our server, Jackson was attentive, professional and personable-would definitely request him again.
Went here as we have not been here is awhile and will probably never return. Had an 830
Reservation and at 915 we were never seated. When we went to check the front desk they horribly rude and made silly excuses. Too many good steak houses like Biernats and chamberlain that are respectful of their customers. Good bye.
The food was great, our waiter was terrific, and the environment was upbeat. What did not leave a good taste in my mouth was the fact that we waited over one hour past our reservation time to be seated. I've eaten at many nice restaurants that were busy and never once have I had this problem. We were told that the party ahead of us "would not leave" and that was the reason for the delay. We heard others complain of the same thing while we were there. If I had not been with other people who wanted to stay, I would have left. We spent nearly $1000 on dinner and drinks. After being told we would be "taken care of" due to our long wait, the only thing we got was free dessert (which we didn't even get to choose). I likely will not eat here again.
Celebrated my birthday here in Dallas for the first time since leaving Chicago, I would recommend everyone to dine at Nick & Sam’s for any special occasion. The servers knew my name before an introduction was even given and there was confetti thrown on the table for my birthday. The Porterhouse was deliciously tender and well seasoned and the celebration cake.... AMAZING!
We were celebrating my sister and niece’s birthdays, and noted it in our reservation. The hostess’s even acknowledged the occasion when we walked up; however, confetti was not added to the table. This was very disappointing since we made the birthday reservations here for the extra touches they add to your dining experience that make the guests feel special and celebrated. That was the first strike.
The second was that the celebratory champagne was not offered until eight before our meal came out (over an hour into the dining experience). Next, we had to ask for dirty plates to be taken away from our table. The old plates had not been cleared off when our main course came. Crumbs were also never removed from our table.
The service seemed rushed and chaotic. Our server was very nice, but seemed liked he was assigned too many tables at once.
Third strike was that we were seated in the main dining room, which (for the fourth time in a row) was obnoxiously loud, and extremely cramped. Finding your way to the bathroom from your table was like trying to go through a maze since so many chairs were seated back to back and no one could fit through.
The food ended up being pretty good as usual, but for the amount you pay, definitely not worth it. There are too many places in DFW that offer consistently great food at the same price as Nick and Sam’s, but they also offer the excellent service, ambiance, and extra touches that make the customer forget how much they are actually spending on the meal itself because you are actually paying for the whole experience. If you are looking for the whole experience, do not go to Nick and Sam’s.
Also, as a side note, do not go to Nick and Sam’s if you are looking for lobster bisque. It is not offered as an on or off menu choice.
The food was amazing, but the service was lacking. We saw our waiter a total of 4 or 5 times in the 2 hours we dined. Our water was refilled only once, right before we left. The place was jam packed. Thankfully we had a booth, but the poor souls at tables were pressed against other tables. For such an expensive meal, you'd expect a little more of a luxurious dining experience.
What a beautiful restaurant!
We came for my husband's birthday. The ambiance was great, the food was great, but as soon as the waiter realized we were "just visiting" in the super high end restaurant scene, and that we weren't going to spend $500 he wrote us off. The service was cordial at best. But, alas, we are not the type to be super concerned. We enjoyed our expensive but nevertheless enjoyable dinner, and still tipped 25%, as I am in the service industry and understand the jaded attitude, however unwelcome it may have been.
Great time for a visit, but I wouldn't make it a regular. Not because of the price, because of the snoot from the wait staff.
Still my favorite restaurant in DFW however I don't think it shows at its very best on days like Xmas Eve and New Years Eve - too many people being catered to, crowded bar, no pscae and staff too busy to be their usual attentive self.
Will continue to visit but after having done Xmas in 2016 and New Year in 2017 we will avoid these dates in the future.
Fantastic dinner! NY Strip was cooked perfectly and all sides were awesome! One of the best strips I’ve ever had. Outstanding service. Bar music was a little loud st 7:00 for drinks prior to dinner. Didn’t care for music selection either (rap with bad language). Prefer a nice piano, jazz, or Sinatra/Dean Martin feel for a nice steak house. Table for dinner was nice in the back dining area (away from bar and music). Great wine selection and the Martini’s were on point with blue cheese stuffed olives. Caviar was a nice touch for the table. Great experience overall and highly recommend.
Food was pretty delicious. The wagyu beef had to be cut thinner for it to properly melt really well in the mouth. Steak was suppose to be medium rare and was practically raw in the middle not a warm pink. Asked for it to be recooked and it came it well done with the outside charred to the point where the char made up the majority of the flavor not the steak itself. My previous experience was wonderful because the waiter was amazing and was very detailed in what wagyu we were ordering. Described the detail and showed us the marbling. This time my experience was dulled due to the lack of attention, lack of detail, and did not care to show us what kind of meat we were ordering. Waiter should have changed utensils after each course. One of the utensils brought had a large hairball on it. Very obvious but he did not care to look simply. Clumsily moved items on table and took him awhile to realize to refill the water. Should have folded napkins when we left table momentarily like my previous experience. And when he brought my credit card back it had food and grease on it. Very low class behavior for such an upscale restaurant. My first experience made me want to comeback and recommend to all my friends family, but my second experience was a travesty and utmost disappointment. Its very sad how the standard could’ve dipped ao far in such a small amount of time. I hope the standard will be reworked to the standard of a high class restaurant again.
I have attended almost every steak house in Dallas area and did not have Nick and Sams in my menu plate yet. I decided to change that. I will say the place is quite nice, (though opentable screwed up the reservation as when I showed up Nick and Sams did not have us listed). We were seated though as we tend to dine early.
Tables are SOOOOO close to each other
Well over priced items (I expect to pay a premium in places like this)
I think we had a newer waiter his service was lacking as compared to other higher end steak houses. Once a table came in that he appeared to know everyone at we were basically forgotten
We felt kinda rushed by the staff (2 people and our bill was near 400$ with no drinks)
Food was good..
Caviar was free :)
I had no wait time for parking :)
Beautiful wait staff (Both male and female)
Overall I would pick pappa bros over Nick and Sams in the future for price vs quality
Great Food, poor service. It's our favorite family celebration place because the service has always been top notch. This time the service was poor. We were celebrating a birthday. There was no acknowledgement to our special birthday celebration. The food was amazing as always. The Lobster Mac was the table favorite and our boys are still talking about the steaks! We will definitely return for another celebration. Hopefully the service will be better.
In truth my family left the restaurant nothing short of sad. We have been coming to Nick & Sams for 8-9 years on Christmas Eve or on this case Dec 23rd (had Cowboys game the next night)
We will sadly have to end this tradition and find a new restaurant.
To start they have crammed so many tables into the dining room you are literally and I mean literally sitting shoulder to shoulder with the next table over. I was closer to guy at the next table then to my daughter as the corner of his table was touching ours.
We asked to be moved, BIG mistake. They moved us to the bar area where it was nothing short of miserable. Terrible, totally unprofessional service, no assistance with wine selection or even presentation of the meat offerings. Noise was at an 11 playing anything but holiday music and finally food was served late and sides cold. When paying $1,000 for a special evening out with family this is far past disappointing
So many great memories of this place, again my family left sad..... as for us it was an end of a family tradition.
