Nick and Nino's Penthouse Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Food was absolutely amazing. Salads, steaks, desserts - everything was top notch. Perfectly prepared and presented. Service was excellent. Was greeted warmly and made to feel very welcome And the view from the top of the wyndham hotel was very good. See if you can get a highly coveted window table. I dine often in Chicago and St. Louis and was very impressed with our experience at Nick & Nino's. I didn't expect such a memorable experience in Springfield. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be coming back on future trips to Springfield, IL.
The service was excellent but we were disappointed in the entrees, particularly the rib eye. The bread basket rolls were poor and it seemed to me that the salads were small for $10.00. Will have to say that I enjoyed the Lobster Bisque soup. The whole problem is it's high priced and we expected more. Loved the location above the city. The interior of the restaurant was excellent and enjoyable.
We were hoping for an exceptional dinner to celebrate our son's move to Australia. We have had excellent meals at this restaurant in the past for special occasions so we thought we would return. The waiter (who is very experience and we have had several times before) was excellent. The cocktails, wine and appetizers were all great however the two steaks we had were decidedly overcooked. The real killer of the evening was when they brought out a Hoover (not a quiet push sweeper) and proceeded to vacuum beneath 3 tables. It was only 841 pm so they were not about to close nor was it early enough for a second seating. This brought the evening to an unfortunate end. I doubt we return anytime soon. I suspect the lady thought she was being thorough to clean up before the end of her shift.
Our server Jenna was knowledgeable with menu items and perfectly described the food.
She was excellent. Upscale for Springfield. The view was great. Had some reservations about going but after the experience we will be back.
The steaks were good. The decor is a bit dated with the exception of the gray wall with pink steer heads - a bit of a shocking combination. The service was attentive, although a little unpolished. A good choice when dining in Springfield. Of course the view of Springfield is very nice.
We go to Nick and Nino's a few times a year. I always request a window table for my wife's birthday and have always been able to sit by the window. Unfortunately, they have a new hostess and he wasn't able to seat us next to the window this year. Here is why I was unhappy with the arrangement this year. I received a call earlier in the day to confirm the time, reason for our reservation and the request for a window table. I was told that they could see that in my reservation and it shouldn't be a problem. After getting a list of excuses on why we were not able to sit next to the window, one table opened up within minutes. The hostess made NO effort to make the situation right and move us near the window. In the past, the previous hostess would have had us grab a drink in the lounge in order to fulfill our request.
People go to Nick and Nino's for the food, ambiance and the VIEW!
We went for our Anniversary. Neither one of us had ever been. It made our night. It was absolutely amazing! We will definitely be going back. We even talked about going here every year for our anniversary on our way home. Thought about making a tradition out of it! 😊
Amazing from beginning to end! Espresso Martini was delicious, beautiful views from our table by the window. The lobster bisque was delicious as were the homemade breads. Then my husband surprised me with the Firecracker shrimp, Yum!! Then finally the entrees, grilled lobster and filet were excellent! The staff were very attractive, the chef even came to our table twice. He have us an extra side of corn grits just so we could try it. I must say they were fantastic! Great time!! Will definitely recommend it.
I absolutely love going to Nick and Ninos. We had the weekend free and decided to do a date night with another couple and chose Nick and Ninos. I have dined here before and the food is always delicious and the atmosphere is perfect for an adult dinner out. Total relaxation is the only way I can describe my experience. You don't have to worry about anything. The staff is very courteous and pleasant and the food is beyond amazing. Our waiter helped us pick out the perfect bottle of wine for our table that everyone enjoyed. I had the twin lobster tails with asparagus, corn, and the nicks potatoes. We also had the firecracker shrimp appetizer and the crab cake appetizer. Both were so delicious but the firecracker shrimp was my favorite. We took our dessert home with us and enjoyed a kaluah cheesecake later on that evening. I absolutely love going to Nick and Ninos and will be going back as soon as I can. If you get the chance to go you wont be disappointed.
My husband had the "Porter House Lamb Chop". This was actually four lamb chops split. They were tough and the way they were cut made it too hard to try and get any meat from it. This was not as it was advertised. They did not put any vegetable or potato on the dish either which really made it unappealing. We ended up taking 1 1/2 of the chops home for our dogs.On our way out, we asked another diner waiting for the elevator how his meal was and he had the Lamb Chop as well and he said the exact same thing about his. I had the scallops the way they were prepared was good, but they did not taste real fresh. Kind of a strong fish taste. This place has great atmosphere and the staff were wonderful. We will not be going back. We have eaten here a few other times and did not seem to have a these same problems.
We gave advance notice when we booked the reservation that it was for a special occasion (birthday), so they did acknowledge that when we arrived, and seated us by the window with a beautiful view...which was nice. The waitress greeted us & wished us a happy birthday, also nice. We decided to skip the appetizer (nothing really caught our eye) and we both ordered the cowboy ribeye, medium...with a side of the corn grits & asparagus. We ordered a bottle of red pinot (very limited wine selection)...then the waitress brought out the break basket. We were excited about the large selection of choices, but were disappointed, as they weren't very good. Raison bread was stale; cheese crisp was burnt; pretzel bread had no salt. Steaks arrived - both steaks were rare, not medium. The flavor was great, they were just undercooked. Marbeling was good on the steaks, but the fat was still white (undercooked). Grits were good. Asparagus was awful - it said it was roasted, but appeared / tasted more like it was boiled without any seasoning. For desert we shared the crème brulee...that was good. Overall, the meal was disappointing. As a side note, the restaurant should look at replacing their silverware - the knives were very dull...and the spoon w/ the crème brulee wasn't the right spoon for the pudding based desert. FYI - we did not ask to speak w/ management about the food, we probably should have given them a chance to correct it.
I travel for work so I eat out ALOT. Imagine my surprise when the restaurant on the roof of my hotel turned out to be such a gem. The filets are fantastic (the truffle crust is to die for) but literally every bite I put in my mouth was heaven. I returned for a second visit just last week and we had the same waiter, Rick. Rick remembered both my friend and myself, where we were from, etc. I was shocked. Rick is the kind of waiter you remember but when he also remembers you? Amazing. Keep up the good work folks and I’ll be back!
We had a great experience, other than spending $200 for just my husband and I. The food was good, but it was very expensive. I requested a window seat and was told "it's for reservations only" but I had the reservation and had requested a window seat at the time of reservation.
This restaurant messed up the celebration of our anniversary. The service was glacial. The drinks came after the appetizer, and the drinks weren't made correctly. The food, which took far too long to arrive, was not exceptional and certainly not worth the high price. I would not recommend Nick and Nico's.
