It was a great meal in a great restaurant. They do a great job with service
I have enjoyed Nicholson's in the past but this was the 2nd time I was served overly fried, too crisp Fish and Chips.
Same as always why we keep coming back
We have been to Nicholson's a number of times and really enjoyed it. This time was just OK. The food was a bit overdone and the service was so-so.
Love Nicholson's. Always head there before a play at the Aronoff, to get a play-themed cocktail. Only issue we had, we got there 10 minutes early, and even though the table was open, the hostess refused to seat us. Luckily, the server and manager both were more courteous, once we were finally seated.
Have to admit this trip was disappointing. Ordered some wine and appetizers and the calamari (that our waiter Michael bragged about) never came and our waiter did not return to check to make sure we got our food. By the time he came back and I asked for the check because we had tickets to a show across the street and didn't seem too bothered that we did not get the food we ordered.
The last several times we have arrived about 15 minutes early for our reservation and were required to wait by the crowded bar in the way to be seated even though the table was available. The reason we were given was to not overload the kitchen with orders. It would make more sense to seat the patrons at their table and ask if they can take their order around the time of their reservation.
Nicholson's is our favorite pre-theater place to go! Our server this last visit was incredible. As always, the fish and chips did not disappoint. The homemade ketchup and tartar sauce added just the right flavors to this authentic pub dish.
Be sure to book early if there is a show so you won't be disappointed!
Disappointed with the seating and the wobbly table. Asked for a better table, but only a high top was free and my husband has back problems which aren't conducive to high top seating. Really disappointed especially because I made a reservation before a special night at the Aronoff. My husband was not happy.
All nice but it took 45 min for our order to be served.
Excellent food and service
It started from the time we walked thru the door. We had Reservations but still had to wait 15 minutes… After ordering food it took 40 minutes even though we were one of the first people seated in this area .fish and chips was nothing more than a frozen fish patty and fries . So long Nicholsons!
Promptly seated for a Saturday pre-show dinner. First time here and very glad to have a reservation as we scored a nice booth instead of much crowded & noisy back room. Prices were moderate for food & drink, and received very good service for staff. Appetizer + 2 beers + 2 sandiches + tip = $67
While our food was delicious, service was good but very slow. The restaurant was not packed and we were told by the hostess we needed to wait for our table until it was closer to the time of our reservation. Our reservation was at 12:15 and we arrived at 12:08.... Our server was very friendly but incredibly slow. We had finished our meals for over 30 minutes and had to find him to get the bill. The hostess also wore an incredibly short skirt, inappropriately short! Every time she bent over she exposed herself. We had children with us and this was highly inappropriate, especially for lunch!
They always take great care of us here!!!
We've been by this place so many times through the years and finally decided to "take the plunge." We weren't disappointed. In spite of it being a busy Friday evening with a show across the street at the Aronoff, waiter Phil kept things moving along. We had the Tavern house salads (half size was adequate) to start. I tried Nicholson's rendition of bangers and mash (not on too many menus) and enjoyed it very much with their bar mustard and Guinness stouts. My wife had the Nicholson's signature burger and steak fries that she would definitely would order again (house ketchup was only fair). Food ingredients all fresh and preparation a step or two above just bar food. Recommend this place, would eat here again but suggest reservations especially on busy nights.
We had a very nice meal and the service was good. However I think the interior could use a little refurbishing, it looks a little bit beat up.
We were the first seating for brunch and the room was uncomfortably cold. The food was very good but came out colder than it should have been. The wait staff was very pleasant and attentive
The salmon dinner was excellent as well as the trout!
The food was very good. The service was great. I would recommend this restaurant to others.
The drinks came after our meal and as delivered. They advertise crumpets when it was English muffins. They are not the same thing
We went before the theater. This is my 3rd time eating there before the theater, so that should give an example of how much I like it. My favorite thing is to try to test a new beer. Their beer menu is very large, and it's always great to try something new.
Dinner with a hearing impaired friend.
Great food and service for larger party of 9. My salmon was fabulous. If you're coming before a performance, make a reservation well ahead or you won't get a seat! Thanks, open table!
Lunch before the matinee at the Aronoff Center, very nice and convenient place to dine.
Service from our waiter was not great but the interactions we had with the manager was good.
Outstanding!Service was great!Food was exceptional. It's good to get a different type of cuisine.
We were 10 minutes early and were forced to wait to be seated until our 6:30 reservation. Once seated and drink order taken, we were requested to order dinner. We declined and waited to have our drink at least partly finished before ordering. It was wait then rush!
A great place to eat before seeing a show at the Aronoff. We always have a large group and Nicholson's is always accommodating. Always make sure to make a reservation as this is a very popular place.
We had a party of 5 with a 5:30 reservation. As soon as we were seated the hostess proceeded to tell us the was a reservation at our table at 7:15 and we needed to be finished. We thought that was very rude. It was busy and our waitress didn’t even take our order until 6:30. The fish pieces were small, and the fries were cooked me. Not my favorite place for first experience and for someone who likes the theater.
The service was slow. Not enough help to handle play crowd. Food was fine
I had the fish sliders and fries. My server was excellent, her name was FiFi.
I will return!
Loved our server Marissa. She was very attentive and stopped by often. The Brussels sprouts were great. We liked the steak with duck fat fries and the pot roast. The fish and chips not so much. Great deserts!
It was St Patricks day. I had a reservation but our table was in the bar. Too loud. A reservation should have put us in the quieter dining room. Reception staff seemed very confused.
Great evening. St Patrick's Day but the food was great and service excellent . Friendly staff .
Had a great family gathering celebrating St. Patrick's Day.
As always, good food and great service. WIll be back
It was unfortunate we were seated in an area where there was a loud group standing and eating and drinking- otherwise the atmosphere was great.
Bad steak. Medium rare steak was over cooked. positive was that we could get in...better restaurant s were unavailable.
Nice Happy hour!
Compliments to Chef Jeff! The food was delicious and the ambiance was perfect.
