Initial server was rude and dismissive taking over 15 minutes to fill a clearly empty water glass—they were not busy. I asked for the manager who came, brought fresh water and gave us a nw server who was delightful. However the manager never came back to check on us after having a poor experience.
Overall, my experience was poor. I had visitors in town from out of state and brought them here for dinner. The experience that was delivered to us by the waiter was suboptimal. He wasn’t friendly, was relatively rude, and generally unhelpful.
We have gone here every time the Elvis tribute is at the Aronoff Center. It’s close and the food is always great. The service is always great - our server this past time was fantastic and very friendly. I tried the butterscotch pudding and it was amazing.
I am there all the time with a lady friend. This time I came with a grand-daughter who lives in town; she and friends will be back as it seems to cater t o the young scene. I love it.
Enjoyed everything we ordered. Started with the artisan bread and a Caesar salad. Entrees were turkey burger and pot roast.
We come here often before the theater. Tonight's dinner seemed a little off, as food and drinks came at different times.
Server had been smoking. Seemed unengaged. He knew little about the easy questions we had. The food came out wrong. One order was wrong, the other was cold.
Our server was excellent, I believe his name was Josh. We got there earlier than our reservation and that was no problem for them. We were quite happy about that as we were going to a play at the Aronoff and didn’t want to be late. Josh made sure we weren’t.
My daughter had the beef tenderloin, cooked to perfection. I had the halibut and was disappointed. Overcooked but fish can be a gamble most times. Nevertheless we loved the place!
We try Nicholson's every year at least once during Broadway Play Season. We always seem to get a server who is either new, or doesn't want to be there. My husband ordered what he thought was the fried chicken dinner and he actually received 3 chicken tenders, a crock of mac and cheese and a crock of green beans. There are too many choices for dinner before a play in downtown Cincinnati and I think this time has just cemented our thoughts about not trying it again. Usually when we are greeted we tell the server we are attending the play and get really good service. This is not the case at Nicholson's, unfortunately.
Excellent service and food!
The last few times at Nicholson’s were not great experiences. But we were headed to a show at the Aronoff and it was the easiest choice. We had their lunch menu which included a quiche and some terrific salads. We were seated in the section right as you enter the door, I thought these would be awful seats, but it worked out fine. Our waitress, although very busy was attentive and did a great job. Of course we got the duck fat fries which were terrific. The quiche came with some side potatoes and dressed greens. My daughter had the steak salad which was delicious. Great food & experience, will put them back on the go to list.
Food and service were great as usually. Disappointed opentable lost our reservation. Luckily they had an available side booth but was difficult for my grandmother to participate in conversation due to sitting situation
This was our first time here and we really enjoyed it. The Happy Hour is nice and even the limited "show" menu had a lot to choose from. We will be back.
Amazing food, service was attentive, great location across from the Arenoff
Overall consistently great. I wish they used their old sticky toffee pudding recipe.
We went before a show at the Aronoff. Got there at 6. Our two apps came out late and not together, and by 715 we had to leave without entrees because our order was "sent to other tables." Thankfully there were snacks for sale at the Aronoff. Not a great experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed the salmon salads for lunch and our server was awesome. Would highly recommend.
Excellent service and value before a Show at the Aronoff. In and out in about 65 minutes.
The greeting staff were friendly and helpful. The waiter was efficient and checked back regularly with us. The food was great. Our table was in a cozy room.
Birthday. Lovely experience. Will visit again.
We enjoyed our meal and sat in a great, private booth! Cocktails were delicious, and the burgers were wonderful.
Very good meal! Desserts were excellent! Music too loud and they missed an opportunity to play Scottish music instead of hard rock.
Seated in back room near fireplace. On a cold night fire would have been great but he heat level could not be adjusted and where we sat it was much too hot. Charge for a shared prime rib dinner was $10.00 "Outrageous"
Food was fantastic and the atmosphere was really fun. We had the pretzels and cheese, fish and chips, and the buttermilk fried chicken. It was delicious!
Great service, delicious food, and tasty drinks!
The food was tasty and reasonable. The best part of all was the outstanding service by FiFi. She was genuine , happy , helpful, and very alert to care for us.
Go to this restaurant prior to Broadway Show across the street. Always a worry that we will get waited up, served our food and given our checks within the over 90 minutes we are there. They do not staff appropriately for show nights.
A good mix of Scottish and pub fare, well-prepared, and complemented by an expansive drink list.
Pre-show dinner. Friendly service. Delicious food. Great drinks
We love coming here because of the outstanding food, service and location.
Fun place for a get together with our son & his friends. Service was great. Food was heavy but fantastic. Everyone enjoyed the Scottish experience!
Love the fish & chips! Cannot go wrong. I always ask for the regular ketchup vs. the house made which is a little sweeter.
