Niche Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Wow, great stuff! Everything was top notch. David, the chef, talked to us and every other table personally and explained everything. Mark, our server, was on top of everything. The food was super in all cases. Highly suggest the mussels as an appetizer.
We plan to return soon.
From the moment Chef David greeted us at the door, until the end of our 5 course meal, dining at Niche was a 5 star experience. The dishes were delicious and every bite was absolutely mouthwatering. Chef David interacted with us the entire time and was extremely gracious and made us feel at home. Service from his equally efficient staff was outstanding. Everyone should go to Niche to celebrate a special occasion or to just celebrate life. This restaurant will make you feel like you're in foodie heaven!!!
Dishes to try: Everything on the Chef's Tasting Menu
Niche is cozy, the decor is modern and art gallery-like. but don't let that fool you. We were greeted and served by the chef, who convinced us (my wife & I) to select the five-course meal. A succulent white-bean soup with the aroma of white truffles, opened the treat followed by a perfectly seared scallop over fettuccini with generous slices of fresh black truffles. Segway into a tender and flaky Sea Bass over pureed malanga (a tasty local root veg), followed by duck leg confit topped with a pillowy potato mash. Top all that with a chocolate soufflé straight out of heaven. In addition, the wine pairings suggested by the chef, were spot-on perfect. This is the perfect blend of french classic cuisine blessed with ingredients local to PuertoRico - magnífico!
Niche is an amazing restaurant located in a boutique hotel. Niche is VERY small - maybe 16 seats - maybe 8 very unusually shaped tables. The ambiance resembles a modern cave. The lighting finishes it off. The Chef is from French must have gotten lost and ended up in Puerto Rico. He is a very engaging guy coming over to the table several times. The rest of the staff could not have been nicer or better in any way. We had the tasting menu - 5 courses - amazing. One of the best restaurants we have every been to.
We had a fantastic first dinner in Puerto Rico at Niche. Chef David made our night so special and is wonderfully attentive to his guests. The food was outstanding. The octopus appetizer is a must, and we tried one of the specials, a white bean and truffle soup. The ambience of this small restaurant is perfect for a romantic evening.
What a wonderful find and surprise in San Juan! This had to be one of the best meals I've had in my life, and as a New Yorker, I've eaten in plenty of high-end places. I cannot recommend this more highly to anyone looking for a quiet spot with interesting design and fabulous food and service. We spent $100 each for dinner, but it was money well spent. Don't hesitate, and if you don't, make sure to make reservations, as the place has limited seating. I can't wait to go back there again.
A "niche" is a "shallow recess," and that's exactly what this intimate little restaurant is. Beautifully appointed with a custom wooden bar and tables to fit its unusual space, this gem of a restaurant, with only a handful of tables, is an absolutely lovely place to spend an evening. And it's a wonderful place to eat. My tuna tartar appetizer, scallops entrée, and chocolate mousse dessert were nearly perfect. A completely wonderful and satisfying evening.
Very cool spot. Like you're in a cave. Three out of four of us ordered Othe lobster tail. Unfortunately two of them came out mushy. Sent them back in the new ones that we receive were fabulous. Overall it was a great experience. Would definitely go back.
This is the best restaurant I ever been in Puerto Rico. The food outstanding and the environment is different. The Chef is always taking care of you. We had the 5 courses menu and amazing .... white bean soup, toston de pana with salmon, and the best creme burle with grand marnier. Totally recommended! I must!
We have visited La Niche three time for dinner - tis time with my wife and our grand daughter, who was on Spring break from College in Connecticut - what a perfect evening! Great food service at the attention of the Chef owner to each customer is always notable! Bravo !
One of the best dining experiences I ever had, certainly the best of the 5 restaurants I researched for my trip. This is the place not to miss. Seats 6 or 7 tables, quiet and romantic with amazing food. Rack of lamb with pistachio crust, for example. Tuna tartare , grilled octopus that was soft and sweet. And on and on.
The food was beautifully prepared with unusual presentations. I enjoyed the scallops on apio and my companion found his halibut equally delicious. However, the service was unacceptably slow. We waited 45 minutes for the appetizer and another 50 minutes for the meal as did others. If you wish to enjoy 2 cocktails before dinner this is a good option.
We were greeted by the chef/owner who seated us and reviewed the menu. As others have said this is small, out of the way, eclectically decorated restaurant. Everything was beautifully presented form the amuse bush to the main course to dessert. Highly recommended
