Although not really a French restaurant, Nice Matin is very nice. (no pun intended). Reliable and nothing strange on the menu. A bit industrial. Acceptable, but nothing special. In the evening, it gets very noisy.

On an incredibly hot summer day, Nice Matin was calm and cool. It’s an appealingly modern space with room and comfort for quiet conversation. Plenty of menu choices for a lite summer meal: our avocado/cheddar/chives omelet with petite salade was an excellent choice. The service was attentive but low-key. We were able to linger and talk without being rushed. I’ve been several times for lunch and each time is equally satisfying. GREAT choice on the UWS.

We had booked a room at The Lucerne Hotel in Manhattan and on a lark decided to drop into Nice Matin for dinner. It was a wonderful treat. Although we mainly ordered off the special restaurant week menu, we also ordered some dishes from the regular menu. Our waitress made us feel especially welcome and worked closely with us to make sure we would like all the dishes we ordered. The sommelier arrived at my right elbow as soon as he saw me peruse the menu and he helped me choose a truly wonderful Pra Valpolicella Ripasso Morandina. It was an extremely good match to the lamb dish I ordered and the salmon dish my wife ordered. It was a top notch experience all around, in an upbeat, beautifully decorated dining room.

20 minutes for iced tea. 25 minutes for my eggs. My companion was served her cold dish first. Asked waitress who said she’d check but went directly to another table. Asked hostess who said she’d check. Given two dollars and change off my bill. I’ve been going here since it opened. Worst service I ever had and uninterested hostess

Such a wonderful place for brunch! We met up with family and could catch up due to the fairly quiet atmosphere. Bright and joyful decor. Attentive and friendly waitstaff. Give it a try!
