I reluctantly have to say that the food was mediocre. The best dish I had was the beet dip; the baba ganouj was mediocre, and the beef meatballs (kibbeh) were dry and tasteless It could have been a bad day but there are many other Mediterranean/Turkish restaurants whose food I've enjoyed more. And the prices for dishes were relatively high.
Good service but not that impressed.
My opinion of Neyla has changed. I have been saying for a while that the food is excellent but the service and ambiance were not up to par. But now the service and ambiance have diminished from their already low point. Two if us dined this time at 5pm for a quick pre-theatre dinner. We were the only ones in the restaurant save for 2 people at the bar. The kitchen staff was not busy nor were the servers. Despite that, our tea water was lukewarm and the moussaka, which I had expressly asked to be warmed up rather than being served at their normal room temperature, was served cold, straight from the fridge. Inexcusable. I give up. I really have tried hard to support Neyla but I am done.
The food was great. We shared a bunch of dishes: cauliflower, shwarma spiders, fatoush salad, octopus, lamb and beef flatbread. We had an 8pm reservation. By the time we sat, met our server, ordered drinks, it was 816 and the server told us we had to hurry and order because the kitchen closed at 830. We felt really rushed. It was a week night but there were later reservations offered. What would have happened if we had an 830 reservation?
Great server .
Delicious food! Fantastic house-made pita with a wonderful assortment of spreads and appetizers! The octopus was cooked to perfection and everything was fresh and full of flavor. Lovely for a group dinner.
Have always had a great meal at Neyla. Love the whipped garlic sauce that comes with the meal. Simply delish! Service is always fast and friendly.
The food is ok but it is overpriced.
Not worth the trip.
A little over priced
Wonderful experience. Delightful staff. Delicious food. Thank you!
Came here for a pre-thanksgiving meal with my brother-in-law. As usual the food itself was outstanding. For starters the pita bread that came with our dip sampler was fresh from the oven; still warm with a fresh delicate flavor. The dips them selves are also outstanding, I particularly like the sweet red pepper dip and the baba ganoush which has a wonderful smokey kind of flavor. The charred octopus was also excellent, the octopus itself was tender but the accompanying hummus, red pepper sauce and lentils really sets up an explosion of flavors. The mushroom flatbread was also very good but somehow did not grab my attention as much. Our server was very attentive and the manager also stopped by to be sure we that everything was to our satisfaction. I highly recommend Neyla.
Kitchen closing at 8:30 AM should have mentioned on website. When we ordered baked egg plant waiter mentioned He will serve the cold one .. why do u mention as baked & not sure if he even served us fresh or just heated the egg plant though it tasted very bad.., not worth the money.
Was great like our last time there. The food was great. The variety of food on the menu makes this restaurant a place for almost anybody, vegan or paleo or foodies.
Great food and friendly service
In the Georgetown location it was an awesome place, one of our favorites. Good service food ambiance. A clear identity as a Lebanese restaurant. I really wanted to like it in Reston but the service is not great. The food came out not very good and tasted old and over cooked. We never got the pita bread. It was empty so service and food should have been great. It is a sad state for a once great place. It needs to either improve or close. I suggest going back to being a Lebanese restaurant, in this carnation it has no soul and that contributes to the atmosphere. In fact it sums up the whole experience there.
Best restaurant in Reston. Nothing compares to the chicken or lamb.
I was visiting Reston on business and my clients recommended Neyla for our lunch. And, I am so glad they did. The atmosphere was great, the service was exellent (my server was Samir - who was attentive and responsive to my questions about the restaurant). The appetizer (a sampler of spreads) was fresh and the thin pita breads were warm and crispy. Our main courses were perfectly staggered and delicious. (I had the salmon skewer). I live in Toronto where we have a great choice of Mediterranean restaurants and I was very impressed with Neyla. Well done. I will definitely dine there again when I am back to the Reston Town Center.
Dinner was great. Everything we ordered was delicious. I highly recommend the mixed grill (I think that’s what it was called). $45 or so for four different types of meat.
We were a group of 10 adults and 4 kids. Everything was a mess from the get-go. Our table was extremely close to one other table which made moving difficult. Our server took 30 mins to take our first drinks orders, we asked for drinks and appetizers. Appetizers came 10 mins before the drinks, and 2 of the 5 items we ordered were not in stock. The server told us that we could order something else from the menu and it would be complimentary. The appetizers and entrees took another 40 mins extra to come, and the kids were no longer cooperative at that point.
When the cheque came, they not only charged us for the "not-in-stock" items but also the items that server said were complimentary. After 15 mins of deliberation and back and forth the manager did take them out.
I would not recommend it to anyone, especially not to a larger group.
We were very well treated. Good recommendations from our waiter, and tasty food. Good for a quiet lunch.
Took 1.5 hours to get the food, beer orders took 30 min each and came individually, beers were now the ones we ordered, and the appetizers which were ordered 15 minutes prior to the main course was ordered can right after the main dishes. Worst service I've ever had.
The greeter and waiter were both very accommodating, adjusting the lights and giving us a choice of booths. We spent a lot of time talking, and they left us alone as we requested -- so refreshing not to feel rushed. The food is so incredibly delicious -- I can't say enough good things about it. Those potato wedges! And the Baba Ghanoush (eggplant dip)! Wonderful pita bread, and all brought out on beautiful Mediterranean-style dishes. We ordered a whole slew of items and every single one was delicious. I can't wait to go back!
Overall: Great tasting and flavorful lunch with a variety of menu options to choose from. Despite the potential for unshaded seating and the need for sunglasses, the outdoor seating experience on a beautiful day was great with the live music across the plaza.
All the staff was really cordial. After asking for menu recommendations, the waiter directed us based on how much time we had, which was helpful.
The only potential negative feed back I have is that the check took a while to get. The waiter left us alone after we wrapped up our meal and talked, so we had to ask for it. It wasn't a big deal. We enjoyed our lunch.
Excellent food! The hummus sample plate was a fun tasty starter. Entree was more than enough food.
The food was great if you're a fan of Greek and Mediterranean. The restaurant is open and attractive. A bit strange that the only napkins on the table were cocktail napkins. We had to ask for more napkins with dessert. The moussaka was served cold? We were surprised, but perhaps the menu described it this way. The bar area seemed lively and I think they offer happy hour specials. Need to come back and sample the hour hour!
Best lental soup ever!
Service is really off and business seemed really slow for lunch in the town center. Had to find a waiter ourselves to order 15 minutes after we sat, a lot of confusion on orders, etc. in a fairly empty dining room. Hope it gets better as it’s a nice spot and the food is good.
We arrived at 7:30 pm on a Sunday to find only two other people dining in the restaurant. We were seated promptly. I placed an order for a glass of Pinot Grigio and the waitresses response was, “I will have to find the bartender for that”. My lamb shank arrived barely warm and lacked full flavor ($30).. the baklava was dry with little sweetness and no nutty flavor. If our experience was the result of a long day for the restaurant, then please do not be open for service. The ambiance was as lacking as the flavors and warmth.
Very nice meal out in the plaza. The seating was super comfortable, the service great, and the food quite delicious. Great place for a late dinner.
Very pleased to discover Neyla - the staff was welcoming and attentive, and the food was delicious. The menu had plenty of options, so even the picky eater in the group found something appealing...then cleaned his plate! Will definitely be back.
First off -
The restaurant was near empty at 7:30. We ordered 3 beers and 3 club sodas. The soda water was flat and when we complained they said "it must be because our tank in the front is flat again". Maybe you should change it? One of the beer glasses was cracked and chipped at the rim. It was replaced promptly once we told them.
The calimari was really small and soggy for $15. We ordered 2 branzino fish dinners. The fish was the size of a moderate Lake Erie Perch 7" whole, not a good size ocean fish. For $32 you expect a decent fish. The basmati rice was very undercooked, hard, dry and missing the flavor you would expect from a classic Mediterranean restaurant.
At 8:30 the kitchen closed. What restaurant closes the kitchen at 8:30 on a Wed? Probably one that should be avoided.
Overall, it's not worth the prices for the portions or the quality. Shocked since it got so many great reviews.
Enjoyed the food, service and ambience. Don't change the waiter/server in between and in the process things gets dropped. For example we did get our bread almost till the end. By the time it was offered, it was too late
Great food!
Excellent middle eastern. Have been 3 times and can't pass up the mezze. Have never gone on to the entrees. They have excellent felafal, stuffed grape leaves, seafood, and lamb Mezze. Outside tables under the trees and next to fountain.
Food was good but not above the ordinary. Portion sizes reasonable, but not typical US size. Waiter service was slow initially. They were busy outside but not so inside, where we sat.
Amazing. Different atmosphere than the original Georgetown location we loved but equally enjoyable.
We ate outside on a beautiful day. I did not see the inside of the restaurant. We ate tapas as none of the main courses appealed to us or seemed too costly.
We were there for a birthday dinner. The restaurant was aware of this but did nothing to celebrate it.
If someone wants to sit out in Reston Town Center on a nice day and have a few tapas, I would suggest the restaurant. Wine prices are fair as are some drinks.
First time here. Fabulous experience! We were a group of 8 family members. The service was impeccable, and the food was amazing!!! Beautiful place! Will definitely recommend and go again, even though it's not close to home.
Overcast and rainy, was the day; flavorful and plentiful was the food. Great distinct flavors in the sampler.
Had never been there. The food was good, we were able to sit outside. Plan to go back.
