All perfect from the moment I walked in
Good food and service, perfect today
Found this place on open table and was not disappointed. Atmosphere was very cool and contemporary. Server and wine steward made excellent recommendations. Need one of these in Buffalo NY!!
AMAZING service and food!
The sushi was excellent..the fish was broiled to perfection.
Eileen was very attentive and pleasant as always.. top notch service!
The food was exceptional. We had the Organic Chicken and the Veal Tenderloin and both were outstanding across every item on the plate. Have never been disappointed at this restaurant.
Nice place to dine, excellent fusion food & reasonable price to dine
The only factor I don't like about Next Door is the small table that they squeeze you in to... its great when you're able to get a booth, but otherwise it's uncomfortable.
Upon my arrival at the restaurant, Chef Paul Vroman met me at the concierge's desk, with a recipe that I had requested via e-mail a day or two earlier. He patiently reviewed the techniques required to make the recipe in my home kitchen, and I was most favorably impressed. Friends from our old gourmet group met for lunch, and all of us enjoyed our food. Everyone talked about how delicious their entrees and desserts were. Our waitperson was attentive, friendly, pleasant and gracious. We've met at Next Door other times, and our experiences have been consistently excellent.
When picking up or dropping of my son at RIT, always my go to.
Thank you so much for another pleasant evening. The Manila clams on the new menu are absolutely stunning! The clams are meaty and the broth with sake, ginger and shiso is both invigorating and soothing. It is perfect. I usually get sushi at Next Door but I am so happy I came in just to try the clams. I will be back, thank you to the chef!
Love the sushi!
A Wegman's foodie experiment in the heart of Rochester's most upscale suburb! What could be bad about that? The food was fabulous. My wife and I had the veal chop and our friends each had the lamb. Soup, salad, dessert... all great! (try the creme broulee) Our waitress was knowledgable and efficient. However, once the place got crowded, she was stretched too thin. This despite an abundance of management walking around in jackets with name tags. My advice: take off the sport coats and start bussing some tables. My biggest complaint, however, is the price. Our dinner for 4 cost over $300. (My wife and I each had a glass of wine. Our friends don't drink.)
The food was excellent but my server was just ok, I expected more for a place as expensive as this.
We have been to Next Door Grill many times and this time was another great experience overall. Tanya, our server, was patient, relaxed and fun. She didn't rush us, but was attentive and accommodating in that we wanted to linger over drinks before ordering dinner. I ordered my usual Tsunami roll (which is so fresh and flavorful), and the spicy margarita which is fantastic. The only downside would be the limited menu options. There was very little on the recent menu that I was even remotely interested in ordering. The same goes for the dessert menu; not overly enticing or inspiring. The manager stopped to chat and he was delightful. Of all the Rochester restaurants we have tried, this one remains constant in its delivery. The menu may be limited, but what they do prepare, they prepare well. Overall, I think this restaurant ranks as one of our favorites, if not our top choice in Rochester. I just wish the menu offered more variety.
Great lively atmosphere. A bit noisy but not a deal breaker. Food was excellent and service outstanding.
Next Door never Disappoints
From the moment the Valet opened the door, I was greeted with welcoming smiles from Chloe and Luis.
It was a first date. I was nervous. Everyone put me at ease.
Our table was ready and we were promptly seated.
John welcomed us with a great big hello. He knew we needed to Break the ice a bit, so gave us plenty of time and space to chat.
What I have trouble with is attempting to convey a feeling. I think it was that, everyone was genuinely pleased that we chose this restaurant for our date.
I have traveled a little bit, and the closest I have come to the hospitality and sincerity of the the Next Door is the Four Seasons in Sydney Australia.
The folks at the Ritz, summed it up best.
“Ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen.”
Went there for my boyfriends birthday. Although I put on open table that we are celebrating at Birthday they didn't do anything special for it which was kinda a bummer.
We sat down and it took about 20 mins for us to get water and then finally our drinks (just 2 glasses of prosecco). We had to ask a waiter for bread. We ordered our appetizers but that took another 20 minutes. I was disappointed with the service and timeliness seeing as it was a Monday night and not that busy. We shouldn't have to wait 25 mins for a glass of champagne and ask for bread. I also was disappointed on how long our appetizers took.
We got a sushi roll and the truffle Mac and cheese for appetizers. Both were delicious. For entrees we got burger and salmon and poke bowl. Both dishes were very good as well. The food saved this review! Service and timeliness needs work.
It took 20 minutes for our server to get to our table. Once he got there all was well. We have dined here before and never had a lack of service like this.
We were celebrating my boyfriends birthday. We were there for over two hours, which was disappointing because we were late for our after dinner plans. The waitress was MIA for the majority of the time we were there. We had to ask for bread after sitting there for a half hour waiting for her to come back and take our order. It felt like she forgot about us. We all loved the food but didn't think it was worth the price with such terrible service.
The food was delicious. The waitstaff was friendly and always on top of things. My wife raved about the dessert (Smoked Vanilla Creme Brulee). The atmosphere is nice and some of the seating areas are more closed in, and likely less noisy than the middle of the restaurant. We enjoyed a nice dinner and will likely return at some point in the future.
Outstanding food and great service
Great food, drinks & service. A bit noisy but not extreme. Really pleased with vegan meal options!
Thank you for a lovely evening!
If we were not given $150 in gift cards, we wouldn’t have had two full dinners, as the total plus tip took it all. Food was good, but not great, and not the best we have had for less. So, be wary!
Thank you for a very fun evening! The uni and toro were so amazing! See you soon!
As always, our service couldn’t have been better and the fish was outstanding. You can always count on there being new creative choices on the menu as well as a few staples.
Next Door is a great spot: excellent food and a relaxed pace to the meal perfect for our discussion.
Love it, the food was amazing, service was great, the place itself was welcoming. Highly recommend.
Tuna Tartare was the best I've ever had! We'll be back!!
Lovely. Sever was knowledgeable and gracious. Food was fantastic.
Thank you, as always, for being perfect in every way!
Second time at Open Door and again a great experience. Service was exceptional, food was really good. Only complaints may be that the menu is somewhat limited, and tables are uncomfortably close together, but otherwise no complaints.
We enjoyed the welcoming feel as we arrived, the warm and wonderful service from Sarah and Jeff, the delicious breads, cheese plate and Pork Belly (scrumptious) appetizers and our Entree, Bronzini. We feel at home each time we visit.
Great food and ambiance. Wonderful dinner
Awesome anniversary dinner
Quick meal with nice varied menu and excellent cocktail choices. Our server Eileen was excellent.
We sat in a semi-private room and it was perfect! Food was delicious, good wine list, and friendly and timely wait staff.
