Try the onion brick or the grilled artichoke for appetizers, the BBQ’d chopped tri-tip or chicken salad is a health conscious favorite, but the meat is center stage at this one of a kind Costa Mesa institution.
Take-out, catering from 25 to 2500 guests, a banquet room which seats 80, large comfortable booths, and an environment that caters to our guests no matter if regulars or soon to be’s.
reasonable portion though on the pricy side. service was very good. everything was tasty because there's a lot of sweetness, in the bbq sauce and the honey butter and the salad dressing
This was our first time at this restaurant. We were a party of 4 celebrating a birthday. We were all very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and service. If you enjoy great ribs and prime rib, and all of the great sides, this is a wonderful restaurant.
Great food and great experience!!! We love this restaurant for all kinds of occasions or just for a very good dinner or lunch. We will keep returning as long as they are there!!!
Food was good, sausage was just ok; chicken a little dry; ribs and tri tip were good; sides were good.
Enjoyed a special restaurant week menu, saving a bit. With a reservation, we were seated on time. Christine, our server, was excellent; other staff members, equally solicitous. We enjoyed our dinner
Great for special diets with gluten and dairy free options.
I was looking so forward to some good finger-licking BBQ..i think my expectations were too high for this place. We went on a Friday night for Dine OC week and it was surprisingly extremely packed. Very casual atmosphere with sports memorabilia and sports games showing on all TVs. We got the Dine OC special which was an appetizer to share, a plate of 3 meats to share and a dessert. We got the salad to share which was sad and small, basically a side salad to share between 2 people - I was disappointed (it's LETTUCE, how much is LETTUCE?!). The BBQ came out and on the description, it said with a side of vegetables and fruit - then you pick 2 more sides. The fruit was literally half a slice of pineapple - still on the rind and obviously un-ripe. The vegetable was 4 stalks of asparagus that weren't even steamed all the way. VERY disappointed!! If I knew how skimpy it was, I would've ordered a different vegetable side. The best things we ate were the corn bread and the tri tip, everything else was uneventful and unmemorable. The cheesecake slice was pretty sad, Carl's Jr. gives you a bigger slice of cheesecake for less than $4!! Basically, I won't be recommending or returning.
Food was fantastic - service was good - noise level was to much for me
Food was great, service was a little spotty as it was restaurant week and more active than anticipated (Management should be better prepared). Seated next to door dividing special occasion room, noisy with door open and no auto close mechanism in place. Would go back but sit elsewhere.
We went here for restaurant week. Loved the food, especially the onion ring brick!
Great service and environment! Food was good, but not extraordinary.
Restaurant was very crowded that evening. Even thought we had a reservation, we waited well over an hour for our table. Staff was apologetic and bought us a round, but then ended up waiting again for a server to take our order. We all enjoyed our food very much, but if we go back it will be during a less busy time
Michelle was our server, and she was awesome! So fun! Great food and even had an extensive gluten free menu for those of us with a gluten allergy. We were very impressed. We will definitely be back the next time we are inCosta Mesa!!
I always enjoy my visits here. Tasty, filling BBQ food and friendly, attentive service.
First time visit to eat close to the fairgrounds. Was a great surprise as to comfort and food. Had the senior prime rib. Great choice.
Great service, delicious food.
Wanted a good end of the week meal and their BBQ fit the bill. Always good food and good service. It was a quick dinner as we were heading to a show. Food came quickly and wait staff was very understanding.
good place to go with friends and family
a lot of food for the price!!
The food was good had the baby back ribs, tri tip was juicy and tender very tasteful .
We were celebrating our friends birthday. They said their tri trip was the best they ever had.
Went for Valentines! Always a great time with yummy food especially the ribs!!!
The best ribs in town! We love going to Newport Rib Company. Plan on going once a month.
Our first time dining at Newport Rib Company. Celebrating Valentine's Day and so glad we came here. Prime Rib with Ribs and garlic mashed potatoes were amazing. Special of the day Halibut dinner and Chocolate Raspberry Soufle to finish the night. We will be back.
The ribs are literally the best in town and the portions are huge. Great sides to choose from. And if you don't like ribs they have great other options. My wife loves their kale salad with chicken. Very good service too!
Noisy not good for friends get together or conversation
we ended up doing takeout, but we have eaten here many times and will continue to do so.
I love the food st NRC. I take friends there for celebrations. Have never, in many visits, had a single item that was not delicious. The ambiance is very laid back, comfortable, family friendly, and very friendly staff. I highly recommend NBRC. The servings are always more than I can finish, and the quality of the meats they use are outstanding. I’d encourage anyone to try the Combos, as it really let’s you experience their array of .BBQ.
Food was amazing. Service was excellent. Decent beer selection.
Friendly service with a smile. Food is really good and service is also really good.
Newport Rib never disappoints. Perfect baby backs every time. Generous portions.
We had to wait for our table because the hostess was taking to-go orders, which seemed odd with a full carry-out window.
My friend and I usually split a full rack - the full rack is only $4 more than the half rack, so it's a good way to save a bit of money.
Our server was great.
The ribs were excellent however the sides ( mac n cheese and fries) were awful. They were cold upon arrival and were not much better when brought back to us. The service was not that great , it was a busy night however, our appetizer arrived with our meal ( it was comped which we appreciated) , cornbread was not served with our meal, and our server hardly passed our table.
We had. Our family get together here for Christmas. They were great about us staying opening presents spreading out etc.
On top of that the food was AMAZING!!!!!
first time we have been to the Costa Mesa location, parking is a little tricky but other than that we were seated promptly after checking in, our waitress was friendly and gave us a few tips on the menu, the food was very good and large portions, the senior menu would be plenty for most people. all around a good experience and we would eat here again no problem
We had a party of 10 and received the best service EVER!!! Our food was perfect as well. No complaints whatsoever.
Great food and service. Been coming with my family for many years.
Our server, Brittany, was fabulous - she made our dining experience a great one! The babyback ribs were delicious - very moist, tender and flavorful - we will be back!
Everything on the menu is great, especially the ribs! Service is outstanding! Fun place to meet friends!
Great BBQ food and you get a ton of food for the money. The owners are great and community oriented.
We went to Newport Rib Company for our anniversary. Our server Michelle was amazing she was very attentive and very friendly. The food was amazing (ribeye and tritip were delicious) We will definitely be going back soon!
We always order the artichoke and were bummed that it was not cooked long enough. All the entrees we very good.
My wife's second cocktail took 15 minutes to be served.
We will just chock it up to a off night. We tipped 20%.
