Newport Rib Company
Try the onion brick or the grilled artichoke for appetizers, the BBQ’d chopped tri-tip or chicken salad is a health conscious favorite, but the meat is center stage at this one of a kind Costa Mesa institution.
Take-out, catering from 25 to 2500 guests, a banquet room which seats 80, large comfortable booths, and an environment that caters to our guests no matter if regulars or soon to be’s.
We were so excited to have dinner out. It was our first time eating here and we will definitely be going back
Went there due to being part of OC restaurant week. Had the fixed menu and we all enjoyed it very much. Very generous portions and had to take some it back home. Tri tip was our favorite and loved the peanut butter ice cream pie.
Service was outstanding and the menu large and extensive. The food was good, but a bit dry, but very flavorful.
I previously dined at the location in Naples and decided to try this location. I was not disappointed. The very young man who greeted us when we arrived was very friendly. The server assigned to us was friendly and efficient. Food was very good.
The only part that was not that great was hostess was a little disorganized. You could tell she was lost sometimes.
Great place to have a meal and dine with family members. The service was very good and the food is always good.
My husband and I had a late lunch at NRC and everything was terrific. Our server, Michelle, was awesome and the ribs were delicious
Meat was fine but they need to work on their sides. Garlic mashed potatoes was nothing special, mac and cheese looked and tasted like out of a Kraft box, coleslaw was meh. Corn bread was too dry. A slice of pineapple was good.
Service was very good.
Great ribs and chicken.
Excellent ribs and many sides to choose from, all very tasty!
Great place for family dinner night. Best Artichoke appetizer I have had so far. Definitely give this restraunt a thumbs up!
Appropriate amabiance for a bbq restaurant. We sat in the back room: very quiet, comfortable. The service was good. The ribs were ok. The sides were ok. The corn was tasteless. The cost for two full orders of ribs, including two glasses of wine and tip exceeded $100, a bit pricey.
We celebrated Valentine’s Day with dinner at NRC. we were glad we had a reservation, because it was quite busy! Even so we waited about 10 mins to be seated. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was outstanding. The complimentary photo (hard copy) of us at the table was a sweet touch!
For a busy night the service was A+, food was good and it made for a fabulous Valentine's Dinner.
Always the same experience. Friendly service and really great BBQ... baby back ribs and tri-tip; you won’t go wrong!
Our waitress Michelle made sure our experience was fabulous. Delicious foods, hearty portions and great service. It’s not easy to please 8 ladies.
We were really excited to try this place that hubby picked to celebrate his birthday. We made reservations, even making sure to indicate that it was his birthday.
We were seated immediately and water was brought to our table fairly quickly. Then we waited and waited… and waited some more.... It took 18 minutes from the time we were seated for a waiter to even come over to take our order, but that was only after I gave the hostess that sat us, a look of displeasure. A waiter from another section came running up to us and profusely apologized saying that he had no idea what happened to our waiter. In the meantime, the people in the booths on either side of us and a table across from us (who were all seated after us), already had their salads served. The staff seemed to be a little chaotic for a not so busy Saturday night.
The waiter must have had our orders expedited because our meals came out before the other orders did. The food was average. While they celebrated other birthdays at other tables, nothing ever happened at ours. I really don't know what the point was, of indicating that it was a special occasion on the reservation, if it didn't even matter to them. I shouldn't have to tell them, if it was already indicated.
At the end of the meal, the waiter asked if we were a part of their rewards program. He asked if we could sign up so he could get credit for it. I guess he tried to make up for our "missing waiter", so I went ahead and signed up for it. Will we be returning? Highly doubtful.
I've read some reviews that were similar and was hoping to prove them all wrong. We went there having a reasonable expectation of a nice celebratory dinner. Birthday fail. Oh well....
Took a colleague from the east coast, he likes bbq. I had not been here before, but went on the strength of happy hour menu and ratings. Happy hour is not available at tables. So there is that. Food was good, but we could have split a meal. Maybe that's why it was overpriced. Ambience is nothing special and it was noisy. Might return, but would split a meal which would make the price more appropriate.
The food is very good. Can never complain about the value.
Food was so so, ribs were undercooked coleslaw did not taste fresh and veggies were overcooked with not much flavor.
Asked to be sat in a booth, hostess said there were non open, however their were about 4 booths open in a different section the entire time we were there.
Would definitely not go back.
Great place for ribs and BBQ. Lots of food for your money.
This dining experience was not good. our waitress forgot to take our order. Then the food came out wrong. It was not a good experience.
Great ribs and excellent service.
WoW wasn’t expecting too much, so it was an awesome surprise at how great this place is. The BBQ is outstanding!! Will definitely come back next time we are in town!
Amazing service. Had a reservation for a party of 8. Very spacious seating in main dining room. Senior / small plate ribs was more than enough food & even took some home.
Great place for ribs.
Although there is a very loud atmosphere due to the bar being in the middle of everything what really shines is the amazing food and wonderful friendly service. To die for Tri Tip and succulent ribs everything was full of flavor and absolutely perfectly cooked. Everything was surprisingly affordable and there was some great diversity to the menu options. Thanks to our server for a memorable dining experience we will be back sooner rather than later.
We met our daughter for a dinner visit. The food was great and the service was good.
My only comment would be the initial greeting by the “receptionist”. We had a reservation and she just kept telling us a few more minutes.... we’ve been here several times and the initial greeting is usually poor.
Service was fast and accurate. Food was good.
Good family place.
It was our first time at this restaurant and we were very happy with everything. Our server was very kind, and courteous and gave us excellent service. We had made a reservation for six of us and we were seated immediately. The food was good and it was out to us fairly quickly. We had three children with us and they were treated well also.
We definitely plan to go back.
We were seated in bar area and very noisy, not energetic! There's a difference. The St. Louis ribs were a bit tough and both the grilled veggies side dish and grilled artichoke came out barely warm. The service from Chase was excellent. He made up for the noisiness and for the less than stellar food (compared to normal).
We were placed right outside the party room behind a closed door.. people were constantly going in and out of the room. It was so loud and disruptive.
Overall despite the noise, we had a great meal and time. Our server was fabulous!!
The Baby Back ribs are the way to go. The Tri Tip is good also. The coleslaw is tasty, the garlic mashed potato's are good. So far we have not had a bad meal here. This trip our server got hit with a large party so our service suffered.
Delicious food, great service.
After reading many reviews, we expected a tasty meal & efficient service. We got neither. Reservation was a waste of time because, altho very specific details for seating arrangements were requested, they tried to seat us based on their convenience. We insisted on our preferred seating arrangements. Once seated, we waited over 15 minutes for someone to come take our order in spite of the fact that there were only 5-6 customers in there. We saw the server engrossed in idle chit chat with another server & we couldn’t get their attention. The ribs were scorched, the side dishes had little to no flavor. After we were done, we waited over 15 minutes to get the bill. The people at the next table came in 1/2 hour after us & were out of there well before we got our check. In our opinion, not worth the high prices. In fact, not worth the trip. We’ll look elsewhere to satisfy our craving for good bbq ribs.
Family owned and run business. Greeted with a big smile and good food. Nothing else to say other than the gluten free cornbread was better than regular. Go for it...
Food and service were excellent. We had a coupon for $10 off for $50 or more so we couldn’t have asked for a better price for really good food.
The whole family was impressed with the location and food.
