Newport Grill Ratings and Reviews
While the food and atmosphere were very nice, I was very disappointed in the dress code. For a 5 star restaurant, I don't think people should dress in blue jeans or extremely casual clothes. I also don't think men should be allowed to keep their baseball caps on in a restaurant of that caliber.
Took my elderly parents to Newport, their favorite Wichita restaurant, for a birthday. Our server was knowledgeable and helpful and patient! My Dad loved the Alaskan cod; the scallops were cooked perfectly but the accompanying sauce was not to my taste at all. Dessert didn’t match the description - menu or server - but was very good.
Highly recommend! Wonderful experience overall with attentive service, beautifully plated and delicious food. We arrived early from out of town and they seated us more than a 1/2 hour earlier than our reservation, which we really appreciated. Will go back ASAP!
Went for brunch with 3 friends. Waitress was friendly but not as organized as I would have thought. We had to ask her to bring the omelet order sheets over...and they arrived long after we had finished from the buffet. Creme Brule is listed on their website as one of the desert items..alas not when we visited. My friend who had listed that as her specific wish watched as a tray of creme brules was walked by but not to the desert table. When she asked about them, they were a special order for a party...but the waitress did "find" her one in the kitchen (5* for that). Food was very good as I expected. Layout of the buffet a little awkard with not everything identified. Enjoyed and will go back...Tip: Come before 11 and they discount the price to 16.95 which was 18.22 with tax.
It was a gorgeous day and dining outside on the patio was perfect, a little windy, but still great. We ordered the Coconut Crusted Chicken Salad and it was very good, just the right amount of crunch and the dressing is light and complimented the chicken perfectly. We'll be back!
Our dinner was a combination meeting with friends and also my birthday celebration. The restaurant was bustling but not hectic. The food arrived in good time. The wait staff was attentive without hovering. Newport Grill knows how to prepare fish. It was fresh and not cooked to death. The ambiance was just right and the view of the lake was pretty. We enjoyed ourselves a great deal and I would certainly go back again and tell others about this place and also the Open Table reservation service.
I will never tire of the Hawaiian Ahi Tuna over the brussel sprouts. The flavor is divine and the portion is PERFECT. Love it! Also had a few oysters that were lovely. The Coconut dip app is also amazing. Love the fresh fish selection and healthier side choices.
We usually enjoy Newport, but this time was the exception. My wife had the salmon and was very pleased. The fish was well prepared and it was a nice presentation. I ordered halibut from the fresh menu with asparagus and whipped potatoes. The asparagus was grilled and tasty, the potates were piped and tasty as well, but the fish was a disaster. It was a small thin cut of fish that was painfully over cooked, resting on about a quarter teaspoon of chili sauce. Presentation was non existant. I don't have a problem paying for a quality dish, but I was truly disappointed in my plate. The rest of the evening was fine, and the banana bread pudding was a nice finish. I know it was a busy night, but they missed the mark for me.
This place is fantastic. My boyfriend and I live in other cities, but periodically we will meet in Wichita for the weekend. We make this a must go to for dinner. The food is always fresh, the staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. I always rave about the restaurant and look forward to coming back again.
This was our first trip - family gathering for Sunday Brunch. We were all VERY pleased with the prompt service, the ease of reservation and quick seating, and most of all, the DELICIOUS food!! For the price, we were all pleased and very well sated when we left. Great job, and we will definitely be back!!
First time to the Newport Grill Sunday Brunch. Good breakfast and lunch selections to choose from, and not so many that you could pick out a number of favorites to go back for seconds. I thought the "make your own mimosa" was a nice idea and a very good value at only $5 per glass. Brunch usually isn't our thing, but we will go back for this one again.
I Reserved a table for my wife and I for our 20th year anniversary. We ended up showing up early and was seated right away. The staff were very friendly and helpful with the menu. We order outside our comfort box and loved our dishes, very good (Salmon/Swordfish). The patio seating was very nice with the pond behind the restaurant. I was very much surprised and pleased with our 1st visit to Newport Grill and would highly recommend it.
