New York Prime Steakhouse - Buckhead Ratings and Reviews
I took my boyfriend to NY Prime to celebrate his birthday. The food and service were very good, however, we were disappointed that heavy smoke (both cigarette and cigar) was coming from the bar. We were surprised that smoking is allowed in a public restaurant in this day and age. When we saw people smoking we asked for a table as far from the bar as possible and were accommodated, however, it didn't seem to help much. This is an expensive place and I would be happy to pay for excellent quality and service, however, we don't plan to return unless the smoking policy changes.
We opted for an early dinner in New Year’s Eve to take advantage of the regular menu and were not disappointed. Dinner was well-paced, the food and service were outstanding (kudos to Dani!), and the noise level was more than tolerable despite early revelers and live music. New York Prime is an outstanding steakhouse that also offers incredible fish/seafood with sides that are shareable at reasonable costs. If you want a special treat, try it. I’ll bet you return again and again.
The food was excellent, the waiter was superb, but I was a little disappointed in the managerial representation of this fine restaurant. While treating my Girlfriend to a Christmas Eve dinner, unlike no other she has ever had, there was a BUG in her Martini. I told our waiter as well as the manager who stopped by our table to ask us how we were and neither offered to remove the charge from our bill. Of course she received another one as she should have, but I was still charged for it.
Our bill was way over $200 and after leaving a $50 tip for our waiter it ended up being $312. I did not take my disappointment out on our waiter because after telling the manager about the bug in her drink, I felt like the manager should have made that decision.
While in D.C. last month, my Husband and I dined at a comparable restaurant and I ordered a well done steak and it was extremely dry so I didn't eat it, but I felt like it was my fault because my Husband ordered his Medium-well and his was great. I didn't eat mine, but didn't complain because I felt I ordered incorrectly. But when the manager came by and asked us how we were I told him. Not only did our waiter come back to our table and told us that the manager told him to remove my order from our ticket, but to give me a free dessert. Although I passed on the dessert, I was extremely impressed with the removal of the dinner I did not eat, due to my own order of a meal I could not eat.
I at least expected the removal of the drink, that had the bug in it from my ticket without asking to do so. It didn't happen, I paid for the drink and I am very disappointed in your management.
87.00 for a stringy chewy lobster... I would not have ordered it for the price had I known... ridiculous... also way too noisy ... the steak was good but nothing to demand the price ....however the service was impeccable , unfortunately we will not go back...
The restaurant has been improving continuously over the years. The service staff is excellent. I especially like their onion ring which is big and juicy, a rare finding in Atlanta. Their steak is good and I think the steak is better than what I had in Bone's or Capital Grill. The noise level has been decreased since last time I was there to a tolerable level.
There are still a lot of people smoking at the bar which really bothered me a lot, but My wife and I did enjoyed their oyster Rockefeller and thought it was the best in Atlanta.
One of our favorite places to dine. This is a top-notch experience from the moment the valet takes your keys in til the moment you are back behind the wheel.
The food is well seasoned, perfect temperature and the portions are generous.
The bartenders make excellent cocktails and turn around orders pretty quickly. They are, as a collective, pleasant and friendly.
It seems as if the wine selection by glass is a bit limited versus options purchased by the bottle but we were able to navigate around that fairly easily.
When you dine here, ask to be seated with Nettie; truly a professional server. She is attentive without being overpowering. She is well versed on the menu and makes good pairing recommendations.
If I were to offer one drawback; the bar is smoker friendly and is open to the restaurant. We were not overcome with smoke but more sensitive patrons should request a table distant from the bar.
Definitely worth patronizing, one of the best steak houses in the Atlanta area.
I have been coming here since the mid 90’s, back in town for the holidays & the opportunity to return presented itself. Andrew our Bartender’s service was simply impeccable. His presence was immaculate while his persona beamed when he greeted his regulars by name & engagingly welcomed new patrons to the restaurant's bar.
Pouring & blending are only the small part of the bartending equation. Showing personality & exuding the art of customer interaction effortlessly, brings the great bar experience all together.
The plan for one glass of wine honestly changed due to Andrew's service. I kindly received his Malbec preferences & after a few of his generous pours, I decided to stay for dinner...other reservations were cancelled. With a slight modification, I ordered the Salmon that was prepared blackened & abundantly topped with sautéed Portobello Mushrooms. Preparation, point & price paired nicely.
Seeing familiar faces, meeting new ones, enduring a close-knit atmosphere with soothing live music, delighting in a good meal & fabulously served by Andrew, made my long awaited return to New York Prime enjoyable throughout.
Food was mediocre and steak was bland. Service was lovely. Restaurant is difficult to find if you are not 💯 sure where it is. Smoke from bar is bad unless you are lucky to get a table far away. There are too many great steak houses in ATL and I wouldn't go back here.
The streak had no seasoning what so ever. It was burned on the outside, correct temperature inside. Disapointing. Our table was effected by the sigar smoke from the bar. I wish we were told - and if the stuff of tge restaurant does not know they should know. My meal was ruined. Music was pleasant. Service was good.
Excellent. We initially sat at the bar, but there was wayyyy too much cigar smoke. But it was fine when we were seated at the dinner table (the air filters must be very good here!). Dinner was delicious and the wait staff excellent!! This is one of my favorite places for dinner.
So happy that Stone Crabs are back in season. They were fantastic. Staff is always helpful to
me as my husband is handicapped. I always request and we are given a table that is easily
accessible so my husband does not have to walk too far. Also server always makes sure that
our request to have my husband's steak cut in the kitchen is taken care of.
Food is always excellently prepared and delicious. My husband usually orders a steak while I
tend to order the Chilean sea bass or the redfish with almonds and crabmeat.
Smoke filled because of the bar was the first turn off. The food was very subpar. Service very average and prices way over what they should be. This restaurant aspires to be Morton’s and has comparable prices but it was more like a very poor substitute. Do NOT recommend this restaurant.
