New York Prime Steakhouse - Buckhead Ratings and Reviews
From the Maitre'D to the wait people filling our water glasses, the service was even a little better than the food (which was outstanding). The lady who was our waitress, was always attentive and never overbearing with perfect timing and always kept an eye on our table and responded to our every need.
She even went out of her way to bring my lady a special birthday treat!
Even though we live on the opposite side of Atlanta, the New York Prime Steakhouse has become our most favorite location for those special occasions.
Celebrated my husband's 29th birthday here. It was on Father's Day so the crowd was interesting- mostly families, lots of kids. They weren't that busy, but the hostess was nowhere to be seen for the first five minutes when we walked in. One star knocked off for the service. The food, however, was very good and rivaled any great steakhouse in Atlanta. Best mashed potatoes in town. My husband got a complimentary dessert, cigar, and card. They had a live singer/guitarist which was a nice touch. This is a small restaurant, but we didn't have a problem with the cigar smell at all like some others have mentioned. Oh, and the cheesecake is from Carnegie Deli in NY. To die for good!! All in all, glad we celebrated there- wonderful evening.
Had just arrived in Atlanta from the West Coast and wanted an "old school" steakhouse meal. NYP was easy walking distance from the Westin and we like the website. The manager, Bobby, gave us a nice quiet table in the corner and kept us posted on the ice hockey game score. Our waiter Bryce was nicely attentive and knew his stuff. Impressive wine list and the steaks were some of the best we ever have had. Giant baked potato and mushrooms rounded out the meal. Found out from Bobby that NY Prime is part of a group of restaurants in the East. Will definitely seek out some of the others and would definitely visit NYP in Buckhead next time we are in Atlanta.
New York Prime is our favorite steakhouse anywhere...including New York! The quality of the steak is superb. Knives go through them like butter. The salads and sides are yummy. Service is always excellent. Never had any thing but a wonderful experience at NY Prime.
New York Prime has some of the best steaks around period. This was my first visit to the Buckhead NY Prime, I go to the one located in Myrtle Beach at least once a year. The food was great as anticipated however the service at this location was no where near the level provided in Myrtle Beach. Can't be sure if our waiter was hard of hearing or simply was not paying attention. The drink order a simple "Crown and Diet" was messed up by just being Crown. When it was pointed out that I had requested Crown and Diet he returned with a full glass of Diet Coke leaving me with a full glass of Crown and a full glass of Diet Coke. Despite the service shortcomings the steaks made it a great night! Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
My wife and I went for our 1st anniversary, and it was my first time dining here. When I made our reservation, I requested the staff tell my wife happy anniversary. The staff did this, but also placed a card for us on our table. It was a very nice and thoughtful touch. Before we were seated though, we grabbed a drink at the bar and enjoyed some good conversation with the bartender. It reminded me of my times at an Irish pub I used to drink at back in Philly. The bartender was friendly and the fried peanuts were great. As for the meal, it was wonder. My wife enjoyed an 8 .oz filet, and I had the 14 .oz. I was a little disappointed I couldn’t order a lobster tail with my steak (I had been looking forward to a good lobster tail), but
NYP accommodated our large group as they do each year we visit the area for the Masters week! They are a superb restaurant from top to bottom. The service is impeccable and the food fantastic. They always make us feel welcome and the combination of superior service and food experience is why we keep returning each year!
Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience at NY Prime. After enjoying the restaurant a few times in the past, it came as a surprise. First, we had a bottle of wine that we returned (a first time ever for me!). That can happen, but the waiter did not recognize the vinegar smell and did not offer to return the bottle until we recommended that he drink the wine! Second, the main meal came out with appetizers not finished. Finally, steak for two was served rare when ordered medium... waiter didn't return until meat was cold! Manager did remove the steak from the bill (which we didn't eat). I was surprised that on Friday of the Final Four weekend the restaurant was only 75% full at 8:00...now I understand why
I was so excited to go to New York Prime. What a treat. The ambiance is outstanding. I have never had better service in my life. The salad and cheesey mashed potatoes were wonderful. We had the baked shrimp appetizer and I felt the shrimp were a little over cooked. The flavor was nice though. For an entree my friend and I shared the lobster. I was so excited!! But I felt it was also a little over cooked and chewy... I should have gotten a steak. I will definitely go back, but it wasn't the best meal I've ever had.
Went there to celebrate wife's birthday and it was really great. From the front door to the table all the staff told her happy Bday. The food was outstanding. The only thing my wife noted was that she had to walk through the bar with all the smokers in order to get to the restaurant. We are non-smokers so it was a bit of a distraction for her.
good steaks. need sign when you turn off of Peachtree by Ritz that points to right for restaurant. Wife and I were given a table and the waiters stood right by our table and talked in Pakistani or some language where it was distracting. They didn't seem to care. But when I pay $200 for dinner, I prefer the waiters to be out of earshot range.
Wanted to try the restaurant, it was our first time, but doubt we will return due to the noise of the waiters and the poor table selection when there was numerous options open.
We enjoyed our steaks but were surprised that people could smoke within the bar area. They seemed set up for a cigar bar, which I enjoy, but not while eating. The cigarette smoking was more bothersome. Our table was close to the bar, so we were affected. That was my only criticism - otherwise food and service were good. Given the smoke issues, I would probably eat upstairs at Hal's or in the back of Bone's instead.
Terrific. At about ten buck s a bite, it's easily the best steak either of us has ever had. And priced accordingly. But it's worth it. We'll be back. eventually.
Can be a little difficult to find the parking entrance and the restaurant entrace the first time due to its awkward location, but I imagine once you've been there once it shouldn't be a problem.
The staff was a little too attentive. I appreciate being taken care of, but the service seemed a bit rushed. It was like every few moments that there was someone at our table asking if everything was alright. Our reservation was at 6:30 and because the driver from the hotel was late, we did not get there until 6:45. We did notice as the restaurant seemed to fill up, the attention to our table became less. That was a good thing!
I will add the food was perfect.
Two of our four steaks were overcooked (ordered medium-rare, and delivered medium-well), and one of them had so much char on it that it overwhemled the flavor of the meat.
While mistakes happen, the excuse was that I should have ordered it "without the char". The redone steak was cooked perfectly, but it arrived as everyone else was finishing their dinner.
