New York Prime Steakhouse - Buckhead Ratings and Reviews
Food was mediocre and steak was bland. Service was lovely. Restaurant is difficult to find if you are not 💯 sure where it is. Smoke from bar is bad unless you are lucky to get a table far away. There are too many great steak houses in ATL and I wouldn't go back here.
The streak had no seasoning what so ever. It was burned on the outside, correct temperature inside. Disapointing. Our table was effected by the sigar smoke from the bar. I wish we were told - and if the stuff of tge restaurant does not know they should know. My meal was ruined. Music was pleasant. Service was good.
Excellent. We initially sat at the bar, but there was wayyyy too much cigar smoke. But it was fine when we were seated at the dinner table (the air filters must be very good here!). Dinner was delicious and the wait staff excellent!! This is one of my favorite places for dinner.
So happy that Stone Crabs are back in season. They were fantastic. Staff is always helpful to
me as my husband is handicapped. I always request and we are given a table that is easily
accessible so my husband does not have to walk too far. Also server always makes sure that
our request to have my husband's steak cut in the kitchen is taken care of.
Food is always excellently prepared and delicious. My husband usually orders a steak while I
tend to order the Chilean sea bass or the redfish with almonds and crabmeat.
Smoke filled because of the bar was the first turn off. The food was very subpar. Service very average and prices way over what they should be. This restaurant aspires to be Morton’s and has comparable prices but it was more like a very poor substitute. Do NOT recommend this restaurant.
The restaurant has been improving. Its food and service are much better than one year ago and the food is better too. The rib steak with bone was excellent. My wife thought their oyster rockfellow is the best in town. I like the way now they cook the onion ring, juicy and big. We had a good time there. The only concern is the noise is at a level annoying. I could not hear the words my daughter spoke to me across the table.
While in Atlanta we wanted to check out a 5 star steakhouse. Compared to other highend steakhouses across the country we would have to say that New York Prime was an average experience.
The preparation and quality of food was spot on. The atmosphere was equal to a Mortons steakhouse, although this is one of the only establishments we have been in in the U.S. that allows smoking in the bar area. Definitely a surprise when we walked in but never noticed it again once in the dining area.
Where we were let down or at least felt there was significant room for improvement was in the service. We were provided the same level of service and attention that we would receive at an Outback Steakhouse.
I'm glad we experienced a new place in a new city but if we find ourselves in Atlanta again, we will check out another 5 star steakhouse, as this one did not blow us a way.
For the cost versus reward, they need to up their game as Capital Grill and many other higherend steakhouses we feel provide a better experience.
Fantastic steaks. However, the sides were less than stellar. The Rockerfeller oysters were primarily cheese and the creamed corn was far to greasy and covered in cheese. The cheesecake was terrible. Lastly, it was mildly disturbing to watch an eight pound lobster being carted along on a Radio Flyer wagon. Aside from the moronic concept of parading along an animal the waiters idiotically encourraged patrons to photograph the poor crustacean for snapshots.
This is a world class old school steak house with delicious steaks and sides. The staff and owners are extremely serious about the experience of their clientele. I have been here countless times for business and family dinners and the consistency of excellence is unmatchable in Atlanta. Bobby, co-owner, happens to be a wonderful person and host. Enjoy!
This was a spectacular exercise in over the top decadence in old Bull of Wallstreet style. The live lounge singer, the leather and wood heavy room, the cigar bar smoke tinged air, all offered a deep sense of a men's club. From the manager to the table valet we were tended to with the utmost care. They made my wife feel like a queen on her birthday.
The food was impeccably prepared. The steaks were pure perfection both in taste and presentation. The sides were a taste explosion all their own, and, even the "single size" was more than enough for two.
The drinks, while expensive, were not weak nor poorly made. They were amazingly well balanced and served with a flair for tradition.
All in all, this was one of the best meals of my life. Thank you to Bobby and the cast of players that helped me pull off an amazing birthday surprise for my wife.
See my prior review. Nothing has changed except that we had a bottle of wine my nephew ordered which was simply wonderful. We just ate at Chops, too, and he agreed New York Prime was superior when it came to the oysters, sides, and equally wonderful in all other respects. Superb.
What a major disappointment...this was my birthday and We invited other couples to join us for dinner and it was a total catastrophe.
Apparently this past Saturday, the chef decided to quit or something....our reservations were at 7:45 and we finally got to sit down at our table at about 8:30p.We were drinking wine and champagne and getting a little irritated because by the time 10p rolled around we still had no food.
By 1010p when One of the people at our table got up and went to the kitchen and started complaining .... that's when we found out there was only one person cooking, they finally brought out our so-called food that was either under cooked, overcooked, the order was wrong, sides were left off and they ran out of potatoes-...The list goes on...oh and I will add they did not have a birthday cake, so we never sang happy birthday or had dessert....for a scheduled birthday party that was booked a week and a half prior...This was a terrible experience and extremely disappointing for a supposedly four star restaurant.
And what was even more disappointing was it seemed like nobody really even cared.
Steaks were very good. However I needed to send my steak back to cook. First time I have ever had to do this. Also, we were there to celebrate a birthday and notified the restaurant via Open Table reservation that we were celebrating a birthday. No one even made a comment about or even asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. Not the experience that we have had for years.
