New York Prime Steakhouse - Boca Raton Ratings and Reviews
Disappointed in the table. At least 10 times customers and waiters with serving tables kept bumping into us. The steak was good but the steak fries tasted like bacon. It was my birthday and I initially raved about the place, but the experience that night was embarrassing to me.
The waiter was awesome.. that’s the only nice thing I can say. My daughters steak was full of grizzle, brought it home for the dogs. The shrimp appetizer was just ok. The salads were good! Very disappointed. For the amount of money that we spent, the food should have been much better.
Best steak on both sides of the pond.
Only thing missing: Steak Tartare. Top the tomato and onion app with couple nice round scoops of it, plus put a Tble spoon of caviar on the side. Oh yeah: breadsticks. need bread sticks in the bread bowl. BRW: add a little bit of kosher dill pickle juice to the Brooklyn sauce. Thanks.
I've been to NY Prime many times, as well as almost all of the top steakhouses in NYC and many top rated steakhouses around the country. NY Prime has always been very high on my list, I've always thought their steaks were as good as I've eaten anywhere. That was not the case on my last visit a few days ago. I ordered the 16 oz strip medium rare. The waiter told me to expect it to be "very red" which I knew. When I got it, it wasn't even close to red. It was medium. The waiter offered to replace it (not before trying to convince me that my eyes, and those in the rest of our party were lying) but since the three others at our table had their food, I declined the offer, still expecting to have a great steak. Unfortunately, the steak was rather tough, and it lacked taste. It was NOT NY Prime quality, or at least not the quality I had come to expect. I wonder if they're using a new supplier of their beef. I would have asked John G but he wasn't there.
Once again the steaks were perfect as ordered, service was prompt and efficient and all staff very attentive.
A previous visit the restaurant news filled and the ambient noise was quite interfering with normal conversation as several large tables occupied by business groups.
It is unfortunate to say our overall experience was poor at best. For the most part the experience was directly related to the overall service from the greeting at the door through the entire dinner (soup to nuts). We sat at our table without any attention for almost 15 minutes while observing many wait staff personnel standing around. The waiter did not formally introduce himself and was not clear on the menu and/or specials of the day. The appetizers were average although I will say the bread, Rib Eye steak and NY cheese cake was good. Having experience great steak houses all over the US, there is no doubt I would have expected a much better experience particularly given the upscale steakhouse it claims to be.
With that said, I do have to give a shout out to “Kyle” who was the bus boy who provided service to our table. Without his attention to our table, I don’t think I would have made it past the first drink.
While we were really looking forward to becoming repeat customers, I am not sure I would give it another try. Who knows, maybe we hit an off night or bat wait staff.
I take the time to share this primarily so that the owners of this business have the opportunity to hear candid feedback. This is by no means an attempt to trash the restaurant.
Our waiter was not friendly and never came to ask us if we wanted more ice tea. Our food was not prepared according to our order. Steaks were under cooked and had to go back for more fire including a chopped steak which was ordered well done and came out rare. My edges were tough and usually aren't
New York Prime’s food is consistently EXCELLENT. But I have to say, between the live music and the lack of soft surfaces to absorb the noise, it is an extremely loud restaurant. On Wednesday evening at 8:30 it was so loud in there it was almost impossible to have a conversation with our friends at our table.
It’s a mature crowd, but it’s crowded, and everyone is trying to talk over the music. Please, will you consider carpeting or noise-absorbent panels on the wall or quieting the live entertainment just a little. It is possible to get a fun vibe going without also drowning out any possibility of conversation.
Grade A service and attention to detail. First time there and immediately catered to. Very "down to business" atmosphere, loud-ish, but not obnoxious at all. You go there to hangout, bring colleagues, whoever really but I wouldn't say its for a date or intimacy. Sure you could, but either way I feel it'll be a great experience. I'm now curious about the other locations and the other restaurants under the parent company, see how they fare. Yes, let's just travel across the country for steak. Sounds like a great idea. No sarcasm.
Oh yea, by the way, the steak there melts in your mouth. Sliced Edge of Rib Steak. And a Bulleit Rye Old Fashioned (big cube)
I have heard rave reviews about NY Prime and I had high expectations. Unfortunately, I can't say that those were met. The high-priced items simply did not justify the cost based on equivalent choices elsewhere like Abe's, Chops, Cut 432, Ruth's Chris. Maybe it was a fluke but I have tried those other restaurants several times without any flukes.
