New York Grill
Beautiful, well maintained restaurant with a warm, rich ambiance. Yet, the excellent luncheon menu allows guests to enjoy delicious dishes at reasonable prices in an upscale environment. Food is fresh, well prepared and served promptly. Servers are friendly, attentive and make the experience enjoyable.
The restaurant was definitely over booked with a wedding banquet and other banquets as well. Was told that if we ordered a steak it was a 45 minute wait. With tickets to a show that made a steak impossible. Would have been better if the waiter would have said that when we were seated. The pasta was mushy and warm at best. Also had to sit outside because we were told other people booked specific tables?? Maybe it would be better when it’s not so busy.
Great server and catering manager Tisha. Thank you both. The only issue was the to go food order, it was packaged in substandard paper container, lots of leakage into the cheap plastic bags it was pack in. For an upscale restaurant, large to go food order such as mine should have been packed in a durable tote or perhaps a catering tote. The sauces left quite a mess and the pasta dishes soaked up the paper container and the food fell apart into my kitchen floor!!
One of my associate meal was significantly delayed, he ended up taking it to go. His complementary cheesecake was a nice gesture on their part for the oversight.
Thank you NY Grill for making my retirement luncheon a success.
Everything was really good but it seemed to take quite a while for our food to be served.
Both entrees had to be sent back and there were no credits offered by management. The food was good after being prepared properly, but their is usually some sort of comp.
Don’t mind paying $50 or more for steak, but not for cheap poorly cooked steak. Huge disappointment
Our service was horrible. Slow did not take our wine order until we were done eating. Did not clear table. Did not refill water. Asked for a wine decanter after he finally brought wine. Never came back. We served our own wine.
Great service. First round of steaks not prepared as ordered.
Overall a great experience and great service. My husband and I enjoyed our alone time together and the pianist was great.
Lamb was great. Cooked just right and very tender. Our server was very attentive. We did not have to call her once. She knew right away what we would need.
It was very uneventful a Saturday night and place was empty not sure what happened but wasn’t what I remember or expected
Excellent service and good for that special evening. Food is also very good but a bit pricey. I like to come often for business meals with a customer or special times with a special lady.
We were kept waiting even though I made a reservation and there were hardly any diners. When we were finally seated, the server was very good, took our orders. We waited at least 45 minutes to get four entree salads. This is totally unacceptable! Business lunch, time is valuable for all of us. I will never bring clients here again.
I was not impressed with the restaurant or the food. My booth was dirty and the restroom was dirty as well. I ordered the lobster and it had no flavor and was hard to cut into. I know the lobster was probably the most expensive thing on the menu. The staff was very nice especially our waiter but overall not worth the $240.00 we paid for dinner.
I always like this place. Great food, old school vibe, top notch drinks, and wine list.
Had the spicy pork chops with sauce on side, the sauce was good, but the chops were outstanding on their own.
Am I Versatel dinner.
The food was over cooked and very disappointing. The service was exceptional, but because of the food prep, it made for a bad experience
Restaurant was hot! No AC! Clam chowder was watery , potato was cold
The quality of food has really gone down hill. For what you are paying, the food should be much much better. I like the location and enjoy the ambience, but I cannot get past the quality of food. The vegetables were old and mushy, the steak was weird and the coffee had black stuff floating in it. The desert was fine. It is supposed to be a higher end restaurant, but people walk in with flip flops and shorts. Think we will have to pass next time. Maybe the drive to Pasadena is worth it.
Service was amazing and the food was superb! The entertainment J. Boykins was very personable and talented. Our wait staff were very kind and cheerful (love there job) and that makes a huge difference!
25 wedding anniversary already recommended the restaurant to my boss!! Our waited was excellent! Will return! Love the atmosphere!
It was nice the ribeye was cooked to my taste as requested and my fiance enjoyed his meal as well. We look forward to going back
Another great Day at New York Grill. Had my fave Sliders and a Chicken Quesdailla
Everything was good as always. Me and my girl loved this place the whole time we were together.
Food was HORRIBLE, filet minon was cooked wrong twice! Chicken was rubbery, my child didn’t even like the macaroni and cheese. The manager had no idea what he was doing and was making excuses for the new cook. I am incredibly disappointed not only by the food but by the management. I will never waste my money here again and I will ensure no one I know does either!
We spent $200 and the service and food were subpar. Our reservation was for 630pm, we were not seated until 7pm and the restaurant was very empty for a fathers day weekend. We sat at the bar and were not given a drink menu. I had a blueberry lemon drop which was just ok. Once we were finally seated, Linda half heartily asked us what we wanted to order. No insight on the menu was given. My drink spilled and she never brought me a new one. Her attitude was very poor. Our food arrived and I was given prime rib instead of the filet Mignon i ordered. No apologies, linda snatched it up and took it to the kitchen. Shortly after a medium rare filet mignon was placed in front of me when I ordered it to be cooked medium. Once I realized it, I sent it back to the kitchen, where they cooked the same piece of meat and sent it back to me. The steak had no flavor, I literally salted every bite that I did eat. The mashed potatoes had some brown sauce on it which was bland. We then mentioned to one of the waiters we were ready for our check if he saw linda, because she was MIA. A few minutes later, linda plops the check on the table and walks away. Did not ask if we wanted desert, how was everything, nothing. We then asked for the manager, who came over and didnt seem to care but handed us his card . The worst experience I have had at a restaurant in a long time. I was also here for an event a few weeks ago and wasnt impressed but thought I would give it a second chance.
High expectations met every time.
The NY Grill has been a favorite for years, but it had been a while since we have eaten there.
The service was outstanding as was the piano player and the wine list is impressive. These have always been high points when dining there. However, the food has gone down hill. Not just a little, but a lot. When we arrived on a weekend night, with friends who were celebrating a birthday, we were surprised to see that is was virtually empty. Once we had dinner, we knew why it was empty. It was so mediocre that my wife and I were embarrassed to have taken our friends there.
I'm sure they can rest on their past excellent history for a awhile, but we certainly hope that they get it fixed before they, like so many other favorites, succumb to overpriced mediocrity and ultimately locked doors.
Was here quite a while back and liked it, so even though it’s a bit of a drive for us, decided to go again.
The ambiance is still very nice. The decor, piano and so forth is outstanding. The food was a different story. The side dishes were fine, the sautéed mushrooms were pretty good. The problem started with the steak. Standard new york steak that was dry, tough and a bit overcooked. The veggies were the standard flavorless trio. For dessert, my wife ordered the lava cake to share. Let’s just say that it wasn’t even worthy of using the flatware.
To sum up- decent sides, edible, but not outstanding appetizer; not so great steak; very weak dessert. Certainly not worth the $300+ that was spent for 4 people.
New York Grill is just a classy place with the ambiance of a piano playing in the background, just like in the movies but real life.
The Date was great and service was always so attentive. The Food has always been excellent in preparation and delivery.
If you’re looking for a local place that’s classy with a cozy atmosphere, you can’t go wrong with New York Grill in Ontario.
My family took me here for Mother’s Day. I’ve been wanting to try it for a while and I was very excited about it. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, the only issue we had was my sons steak had to be redone three times. He ordered a fillet medium and it kept coming out ultra rare. They were very accommodating and provided us with a discount. I would definitely go back
Steak was dry, and i did not like the limited menu.
I was a little disappointed. # of our 9 guests ordered the salmon, and 2 of them thought it was over-cooked. The prime rib wasn't bad, but definitely was not anywhere near the best I've had. That was the general feel of everyone in our group. Not at all what we were hoping for to celebrate a special occasion
It was the worst experience of my life. The servers had their arms in our plates, the waitress was arguing with me how lamb shank is cooked. She asked me how I wanted it cooked , rare? I explained it’s braised and should be fork tender. She disagreed , so I asked her to check with the cook. What do ya know I was right. Myhusbands steak had no seasoning and the mashed potatoes tasted like instant !!
We went for Mother’s Day brunch and also to celebrate our daughter’s college graduation. The manager and our server were EXCELLENT! The food was delicious and the pianist was lovely! We had a party of 9, one with food allergies and also some picky moms...all handled with care by our server! The manager shared with us that he was new, we couldn’t believe it!! We left a generous tip for an excellent experience to celebrate our many blessings! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Went there for Mother’s Day...it was the only restaurant that had last minute reservations...now I can see why. It was Fleming’s prices with Black Angus steak. Won’t be back again
The piano player was fantastic, great ambience, romantic and great calamari and giant shrimp cocktails. Wine and cocktail great also. Great service, except receptionist couldn't find my reservations right away?😁
Great quiet daytime ambience. Great for business. Was perfect.
Horrible service, took 20 minutes just to receive our drinks, and another 45 min just to receive our appetizer which also came with our main dish. The only thing really good was the steak tidbits. Ribeye was tasteless and totally not worth $52. Will not recommended this restaurant to friends or anyone at that matter. Very disappointed.
Great food, good ambiance except lighting too bright in dining area. Service very good. Would revisit.
