New York Grill Ratings and Reviews
I had noted this was for our anniversary. They placed me a table/partial booth in the bar area, close to elevators, sports on 3 screens with no romantic setting. When I asked about the main dining area, I was told that was for larger parties. Who wants to sit in the bar area for a special occasion? They killed the vibe. They didn’t seem to care about new patrons. The owner was hovering over guests he knew, which I find insulting. Walked by our table a few times but kept going. The service was mediocre at best. Not very attentive. Even the table next to us was a little peeved. The crab cakes were good, the salad was good, the Salmon Roulette was delicious. The halibut was like rubber. They had large parties that i feel impacted the overall experience, which should not be any excuse. You’ve been in business to long for this to occur. I may try it again, but I think an apology would go a long way.
the service was terrible. there was one server. We ordered the Park Ave burger, it was suppose to come with homemade Thousand Island dressing. They didn't have any, The 1 slice of tomato that was cut with a razor blade. meat was dry. We went to the New York Grill to celebrate birthdays. I was there about 4 years ago, it was terrible then, it has gotten worse.
We will never go there again.
We had an early dinner so I was not suprised the place was about empty but I can't see it being very busy regardless of the time - it is way overpriced for the area and ambiance. The menu posted on line and the one in the resturaunt are not the same. Prices were about double and there was not as much of selection on the actual resturaunt version. We ended up leaving after being seated because it looked a bit rundown to justify $48 chicken or a $60 steak. We ended up at the Red Lobster and had a nice meal with steak and all you can eat Shrimp for less than the price of chicken dinner from NY Grill.
Food was very good. They accommodated us in a booth as requested for my wife's birthday, and provided a complimentary piece of tasty cheese cake. The portion of Veal Saltimbocca was very generous as well as delicious. The Filet Mignon was cooked to order, but could use a dollop of garlic mashed potatoes in addition the el dente vegetables.
Back in the day, NY Grill used to be THE place our family would celebrate special occasions such as anniversary and birthday dinners, as well as, Mother’s and Father’s Day brunches. They used to make you feel special on these occasions with their attention to detail and old school service. Unfortunately, this is all part of their past. We specifically included in our reservations that we were celebrating our 25th anniversary yet no one even acknowledged it. Not the hostess when we were greeted or especially even the wait staff throughout the evening. They could have redeemed themselves when we ordered our desert but missed that opportunity as well. The food is good but not great for what you are paying and they have removed the dinner specials. The decor is dated, as is the music in the lounge and the patrons are definitely an older crowd (we are in our early 50’s and most were older than we are). This will most likely be our last special occasion dinner at NY Grill. It wasn’t a bad evening or meal, just above average but for the $45 per seafood entree that we paid, we would expect much better food and service.
The ambiance was very nice. A party in the banquet room seemed fun and the noise is separate from dining room. The bar area had live music (tasteful) and room for dining. We chose the back dining room to make conversation easier. The service was first class, the bar tender was excellent, the appetizers were delicious and huge. Usually a appetizer is relatively small and we both ordered one. They came on a diner size plate and were delicious...Stuffed mushrooms and Oysters Rockefeller . I would come here for drinks and appetizers believe me. The size of the appetizer was quite filling. Then came dinner. New York steak, garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables. The steak was well prepared and presented and had a grilled flavor...good not great. Then the veal, mashed garlic potatoes that were yummy, vegetables cooked just right. The veal was tough and tasteless. I don't know how you manage that with veal but they did. The dessert tray was tempting and we shared some New York Cheese cake with coffee. Both were very, very good. With a cup large enough to enjoy with dessert. We enjoyed our evening but probably would not go back. There other places to try and all in all the dinner was a disappointment.
The ambiance of New York Grill was great nice romantic setting. My boyfriend loved it because he has never been there I have. He said he would love to go back again. I think we finally found our favorite spot in Ontario. I work at the Ayres Hotel in Ontario so it was very close, and I also live in Ontario.
This was the FIRST TIME I wan't pleased with "Da Grill" I really like this place but I'll never order the Rib Chop again! That piece of meat I got had WAY TOO much fat on it compare to other Rib eyes ordered and you charged ten dollars more for it! That piece of meat for that price should not have even been allowed to be cook. Also had to send it back three of us ordered "Med-well" not "med"
Just moved to ontario was looking for a good spot to take my wife for our 10 year anniversary this place was perfect. Always skeptical about trying new places but definitely glad we came here. My wife an i loved it. I got the bone in fillet and my wife got the new york steak. The best fillet I've ever had will definitely come back!
We went on Father's Day. 4 adults and 3 kids, after a tough day planning a funeral, we all needed a way to unwind and enjoy. The restaurant was really empty. Oh no. Not a good sign. Our waitress took a long time with our drink order, brought my brother the wrong beer and then disappeared again for a long time. We ordered appetizers - and the french onion soup was delicious as well as the avocado rolls. Things seemed on track and upbeat!
Dinner came, and was simply a disaster. My prime rib was so stringy and fatty, i left 1/3rd of it mangled on the plate. The waitress forgot about our side of asparagus, and my straight horseradish and we never saw her again to remind her. Finally, she brought out the saddest asparagus i have ever laid eyes on. Yellow, limp, and totally overcooked with no seasoning. She brought out the wrong pasta as well for my kids and they sensed that it was going to take all night to fix, so they just lost their appetite and the waitress had no problem removing it from the bill. Doesn't the staff look at what is being left on the plate? If a pile of string and fat is left, that's usually a sign that the server should tell the chef, or someone! $300 later, i could not get out of there faster. Will NOT return!
A decent meal for a fair price. We were celebrating a birthday. While the hostess recognized the event, the waitress didn't until the desserts were brought out. Steak (filet) was good. Waitress forgot side dish, but didn't charge for it. Not sure I feel compelled to return.
I eat out all the time. For special occasions we always default to mortons, flemings, duanes , etc. Now that I found this place it's now replaced all of them.
This gem of a restaurant is incredible! Quiet, warm, live tastful entertainment that's not overbearing and loud. Very romantic. Very traditional. It beats out all the others as those places are over marketed.
We were there on a Friday night at standard dinner time (8pm). Although we had reservations we didn't need them. There was plenty of room and it wasn't over crowded like the standard high end chain restaurants where they try to cram in tables right next to each other.
The clientele was mature. You didn't see the standard plastic shallow women there taking selfies and posting pictures so they could "be seen or check in" at a high end restaurant like you see all the time at the place in Rancho.
Every singe item was outstanding. The cocktails were great. The appetizers were fresh and the main entrees were exceptional. The service was out of this world and very very professional.
I'm leary about posting this because I don't want others to know about the place and ruin it. But in all honesty, i'd say it's the single best restaurant in the inland empire.
