Reservation for window seat honored. Great, fast service. Horrendous hotel menu prices, entirely fine food and presentation.
Currently the restaurant’s kitchen is out of action so there are only expensive buffet breakfasts available. We had intended to eat dinner here as well but that menu is also severely limited. This should be acknowledged on the hotel’s website until the kitchen is back in action.
Awful . Don’t do it
The food was tasty though the selection is small. The service was good, the staff tries to please for instance when I was cold they easily moved me to a different section of the restaurant. However, the prices are high for the food offered and the look is a tiny bit tattered and dated. The location is convenient but if you are looking for overall value, given what you get for the price you might do better elsewhere.
Food was ok, great server, but worn out and filthy seating. Saggy booths and food all over the chairs.
I am pleased my cousin picked up the tab. Otherwise I would have been working in your kitchen as a dishwasher for a week to have paid the bill. Yes your food was good, but no where near what I am use to pay for the same items. I had almost the same items for breakfast at a Waffle House this morning in SC and my bill was under $10.00 for two people.
I am a food blogger from Tampa and someone recommended New York Central and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the scallops entree and the creative flavors of that dish blew me away. The star of that dish were the brussel sprouts and the delicious way in which they were prepared was amazing. For an appetizer, I endulged on the korean and buffalo style wings and they were crispy and delicious, I ate every single one of them. I finished dinner off with a slice of cheese cake and it was phenomenally creamy and delicious. The dinner was truly the highlight of my trip to NY. The only issue I had was slow service. I waited about 20 minutes for my cocktail to arrive and 20 minutes repeatedly asking for my check.
Very pleased with both food and service. Grilled salmon and Diver scallop entrees were outstanding. Great tomato bisque too.
Food was mediocre and Luke warm. Had to beg waiters to come and takes order. Never asked about coffee or dessert. Painful experience. DON’T GO THERE. So many wonderful choices in the area this place is awful
This was a very disappointing dining experience. After being seated, it took a very long time for anyone to even acknowledge our presence. Indeed, everything took a very long time: ordering and getting beverages, ordering and getting food, getting the check, etc. Though our server tried hard, he couldn't get past the restaurant being obviously understaffed. Unfortunately, he also got part of our order wrong. And the food was mediocre at best. In all, we will not be returning.
Comfortable quiet fine food with good unobtrusive service
Terrible experience, limited menu (we were told that because of the holiday, they did not have a full menu), no dessert menu available (after we complained, we were served, a frozen cheese cake) on top of that, the service was bad, a rude waiter and a manager that never showed up.
We sat with a front seat view of 42nd, with none of the noise. Our Scottish waitress was great and so was the food. We enjoyed a very well prepared octopus appetizer that was enough for two to share. It's a perfect place to grab a bite to eat before or after a Grand Central Station visit.
My boss and senior level executives had to wait over an hour for their lunch to be served.
The service was excellent; the waiters were courteous and prepared a nice birthday cake for my daughter!
This restaurant is very conveniently located next to the New York Grand Central Terminal. We love this place very much.
I hosted an early breakfast. I had Eggs Benedict and my guest has an omelet. Both were good. Coffee and orange juice flowed.
Had a pleasant dinner with a friend. The waiter and maitre’d were helpful and service was good. Food was better than I expected.
Amazing octopus appetizer! Wow. Certainly the best ever. Great salmon entree with delicious veggies. Also added a side of rainbow quinoa. Healthy and yummy! Only wish they had a perfect autumn seasonal beer.
We knew it was pricey but was getting a quick dinner with our daughter before she got on a train for CT, so wanted to be near GCT. But $18 for a glass of wine is really pricey! Also, the maitre D' and the server bordered on rude. No smiles, stuffy unfriendly attitude that really turned us off. Would not recommend. Go to Sinigual or Public House if you need near GCT!
I write as a diner alway on the lookout for gluten free dining options. There were a few gf options on the menu and they were open to altering other items to suit my needs. The part that impressed me most was ehen they brought bread for my husband, they made a special effort to find gluten free bread for me. It's the little things that make a difference. The meal was very good. I ordered the salmon and my husband had the steak frites. We would go back.
Food is good and reliable. And the waitstaff is professional. Unfortunately the hostess is angry, hostile, and a real turn-off. Her attitude will make me reconsider what used to be a regular spot for business breakfast.
Table service courteous and attentive . Menu was adequate for lunch. Unfortunately kitchen staff was very slow, despite the dining room being only 40 pct full. Budget 90 min for lunch. Prices are what you would expect for Midtown Manhattan.
New York Central, located in Grand Hyatt New York is a wonderful setting right next to Grand Central Station. With amazing city street views we dined overlooking the hustle and bustle below in the comforts of the well designed restaurant. Food was delicious, drinks were wonderful and the service was outstanding. Highly recommend this spot!
We had a wonderful brunch last Sunday! Thank you for a most pleasant experience with terrific food and excellent service. We will be back!
This was a disappointing dinner. We were celebrating my going away and I'm so frustrated about the service. When we sat at the bar, the staff didn't acknowledge me. I asked for a table in the restaurant, but the server was bad as well. I won't return.
Restaurant was surprisingly quiet. The food was great but the service was very slow and the waiter was not at all attentive. Overall nice place and reasonably priced for the area. I would go back again.
Lovely setting and excellent service, but food was very mediocre and overpriced.
Fulfills every negative cliche of hotel dining. Just awful
I didn't realize that this was a hotel restaurant when I made the reservation. It's inside the Grand Hyatt. The food was delicious (eggs Florentine with salmon) and the view over 42nd St was nice.
Good spot convenient to Grand Central. Quiet and cool. Would go again.
Just want to thank the restaurant staff. I didn't realize when I made the reservation that they close for breakfast at 11 am. Because of LIRR problems I didn't arrive until almost 10:45. They still sat us, let us order, and did not make us feel rushed at all. We stayed until it was almost time for them to "reopen" for lunch. Thank you for the excellent service dispite the lateness.
This was a quick brunch on the edge of Grand Central Station - the Grand Hyatt Hotel
Nothing exceptional but a nice quick meal a crab Eggs Benedict concoction that was tasty.
Its location is its biggest asset but the food and service were perfectly acceptable.
This place is just a gem of the Hyatt Hotel. U have a great taste of real meat when you stomach just says "Thank you". It's that kind of food. Servants are very natural, don't ask too much, just the right thinks, don't annoy you. I'd recommend this place as it's the really good place to spend a night.
Very nice airy and relaxed place to have lunch. Outstanding service and great food. If you are looking for a nice place to have lunch in the Grand Central Station area of NYC, this is your place to go.
$23.oo for an omlet is outrageous.
Would not go back or ever recommend the restaurant.
Gives NY a bad name.
Located in the Grand Hyatt, the New York Central offers better than average hotel food. A Caesar salad and a hamburger were good. Lunch special for $20 a bargain, but the pastrami sandwich was just so so
Fantastic service, flexible menu options, and a really nice view of 42nd street.
Ate 2 dinners and 1 breakfast, staying at GC Hyatt. Super noisy, service poor to mediocre. Food so-so. First night was birthday celebration for friend & she seemed disappointed with menu and service. Restaurant staff not at all friendly or helpful. Would not recommend this restaurant to others and would not eat there again.
