New South Kitchen & Bar
Friday & Saturday: 11:00am - 10:00pm
Sunday - Thursday: 11:00am - 9:00pm
The trout with crabmeat was delicious.
The buttermilk biscuits were incredible! Wife got the Frickle burger and thought the flavors with the sauce was fantastic, though the burger itself was a little on the crumbly side. I had the meatloaf and found it to be perfectly moist and flavorful. We'll definitely be back, hopefully sooner than later.
New South remains one of our favorite go to spots for Sunday brunch or lunch. I have a tendency to order my favorite items at other restaurants. Not New South. I try new menu items just about every visit and I am never disappointed. Our last visit was no exception for me. My wife did find the chicken pot pie was very good but a little too salty for her taste. Looking forward to next visit.
Food was decent, not as good as the last time we were there. The menu changes frequently and a couple of the items we like were not available this time around which we completely understand. The online menu definitely does NOT represent the one in the restaurant however, and prices are higher than the online menu shows as well. Wine list by the glass was extremely limited and disappointing. Again the online menu shows a much larger variety and better pricing than in house
One of our favorite Sunday brunch and lunch spots. Unique and fresh ideas on menu. Look forward to next visit.
Great experience! Didn’t care for collard greens. It didn’t have enough flavor, add smoke turkey. Fried green tomatoes weren’t as good as in the past. Fried Chicken and fried pound cake were excellent. Lindsay, our waitress was the best and she was on top of our every need! I loved the Mac N cheese too! We plan to return soon!
As usual, the food was delicious. The service is great. It was late evening so it was very quiet.
Very creative lunch choices! Delicious!! I recommend New South Kitchen & Bar to anyone looking for a great meal in a relaxed environment.
Third time here and will be back again! I can't get enough of their fried chicken - such a great dish and not too heavy. I tried their special veg this time - charred broccoli. It was fantastic! Very happy with the deviled eggs appetizer and grilled pound cake dessert is out of this world! The only disappointing thing is the biscuits - they need to either be hot or add some special butter or something... they are just eh.
Always good always dependable *
Great food. A little pricey because it’s a la carte.
Always enjoy eating here. Never disappointed with the menu or the food quality.
One of our fave places to go for Sunday lunch/brunch. The salads are interesting; the meatloaf is delish! And of course the biscuits are addictive!
Love this place! Great service and food.
Had to wait a few minutes because they "didn't have enough menus" when there were several open tables. The host seemed "lost" with the menu thing......... The simple solution would have been to sit the dozen or so people crammed inside the door and get their drink orders. The menu is not large, but the food is very good. A couple appetizers & salads are better than the main courses.
Great food! The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. Appetizers are good value but some of the entrees are a bit pricy, such as their burgers. Love that the food is locally sourced.
Made an easy reservation online and arrived early. Seated quickly by a friendly hostess. Our waitress was with us in no time on a busy day. Got our drinks, appetizer quickly. Waitress checked in with us frequently, despite scads of diners and lots to do. Food was delicious, well-cooked, fresh, with local sourcing listed in lobby area. Our group of five tried a variety of brunch items--omelet to salads and sandwiches. Hash browns looked like slices of fruitcake, and were unusually tasty, Belgian waffle served with fresh crème and blueberries. Biscuits were
plump and warm for the butter melting. We were all pleased and pricing was appropriate.
Dishes at this restaurant never disappoint. I had the NC Trout stuffed with crabmeat and it was quite delicious. The other dish ordered was the fried meatloaf and that is always delicious. The appetizer was the fried wontons which were so, so good. Service there is always good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Absolutely fantastic meal. Every dish I've had at this restaurant has been.
Went to NS for lunch on Easter Sunday. One of our favorite restaurants and it did not disappoint this time either. We had great service and the food was outstanding. Deviled eggs always good and the Fried blueberry pie is a must for dessert.
Excellent meal - decor could use an update and one of our water glasses came with lipstick on it - so perhaps a place we would try again but not overly impressive.
Outstanding service, tasty food that sources locally
Their NC trout stuffed with crab was great! I would get it again if offered
This is one of or go to restaurants. The food is great and the service is excellent. We got there early but were seated immediately. The pimento cheese appetizer is really delicious. Their biscuits are really good. The main entrees were delicious.
New South is always a great experience! The freshest food is prepared to a delish meal that you will definitely enjoy! From the succulent N.C Trout stuffed with crab to the tasty Fried Catfish to the tender Beef Short Ribs - you won’t be disappointed. The sides are awesome as well...the wonderfully crispy fired okra, the creamy mashed potatoes and the warm beet salad are all great choices. Don’t miss out on this place!! It’s great for an after work gathering or even a date night!
No complaints everything was great and we'll be back. Quickly becoming one of our go to spots for fair priced dinning.
Fantastic food, the specials were great choices.
This was our 2nd visit to New South Kitchen and Bar. We had out-of-town friends visiting for New York. They were impressed (as were we, again). Shared appetizers of fried green tomatoes and wontons were very good. Two of us ordered the VERY delicious and chicken pot pie (great dark-meat chicken), I had the grilled veal meatloaf (yummy) and there was an order for North Carolina trout (again, yummy and great presentation). All served by a very good waitress. Wine selection was extensive and good. Prices were modest for good food. Don't expect too much "ambiance" from the decor, but it is more than OK.
We will return to New South Kitchen and Bar.
Slow surly service, food poorly prepared
New South never disappoints. We love our neighborhood gem!
This restaurant is great! The food is delicious. Everything is locally sourced. The servers are all friendly, attentive and very capable. Servers will give you great recommendations of dishes and what sides will go well with the dish.
Disappointed that menu had been changed to be fairly limited. The trout came out heavy due to the breading and cream sauce. Brussels sprouts difficult to eat because it was barely cooked.
the greeters were awesome - the server was efficient and warmed up after a bit -- the entrees were fabulous the sides not so good - healthy drink servings! we will go back & order different sides -- definitely worth another try!
Service was slow for brunch. We have eaten there before for dinner and the service was fine.
I love New South let me start by saying that, I am a long time patron...dating back to Dakota's.
One thing i noticed and loved right away, the menu has changed a little but not by what is being served but how the food is prepared...change is a good thing. Old time favorites like the Meatloaf is still on the menu but with a twist.....Awesome selection, outstanding food.
Two things i noticed that i did not like...One, you cannot choose your cheese for the cheese plate any longer, which i am not even mad because i know why that had to happen...but the cheese selection was not good at all. It was pretty terrible! Two, a long time patron that comes in and waives at everyone and everyone knows, with my husband....on obvious a date night out gets sat right next to a huge group of small children, screaming and literally throwing food...come on host guy...get it together! He changed his mind three times before telling the seater where to put us which makes me think...hmmm where was he going to put us? Had to be better then where we ended up! Learn to read people!! Regardless....I'll be back...
The food was wonderful. I have a 3 month old who has a dairy allergy and they accomadated for the allergy. The server George spoke with the chef and let me know what items would be safe. It was very nice to be able to spend valentines out with my husband and know My daughter wouldn’t end up with a reaction!
George was an awesome waiter!
Food was great! Great ambience. Service in general was a little slow but our waitress in particular was a little odd. She overshared that she had split a bottle of liquor with her boyfriend the night before— just kind of odd.
Repeat customer everyone enjoyed what they had, nice variety on the menu, good service, fair prices
