New Sheridan Chop House Ratings and Reviews
Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and service! There's no doubt Telluride is overrun by tourists much of the year and sometimes it's necessary to expect a bit less from the restaurants in these types of destinations. Not so for the New Sheridan Chop House. Our server was professional, courteous, fun and even helped us with our wine selection. The cocktails were inventive and deliciously prepared. The food was made from high-quality ingredients – we had Foie Gras (perfect preparation with a sweet /savory balance) and Bison with sautéed spinach, truffle fries and horseradish cream sauce. We thoroughly enjoyed every bite in this beautiful space that is contemporary while maintaining an old-world feel consistent with the locale. We will return.
Our party of 4 was blown away by the amazing service by McKenzy and the delicious food served to us. This will definitely be a place we go every single time we visit Telluride. Everything from the cocktails to the dessert was just perfect. A big thank you to the entire staff for making our evening truly special and tasty!
Food was fantastic, service was slow, asked server to make sure that the appetizers came out before the dinner because it was taking a long time. He replied this wasn’t the first time he had done this. Husbands salad never made it out. Long delay between courses. While service in Telluride has improved immensely in the last 20 years this brought me back to the days of “that’s Telluride.”
Telluride is expensive! That being said the food was good but over priced. We've tried many fine dining establishments all over the country and found that to have everything a-la-carte was a little much. The food did have good flavor, our table was too small for the people in our group (if you are taller than 5'10" I might recommend a table rather than a booth). And, if you get a chilled wine it might be better placed in a chiller rather than off the corner of the small table. All that being said, the company was fantastic and we did have a lovely evening.
Great food but a bit pricy. The $58 bone-in ribeye was a bit much for the steak you actually got. Red wine was also high. The liquor store a block away was asking 65% less which should reflect the cost to get it to Telluride. I always figure 50% mark-up versus liquor store is more reasonsblr.
Overall, a good dinner experience.
I've been here three times and they never disappoint. Broad menu with lots of meat and fish choices. The salmon is always good, as is the french onion soup and the salads. Among the sides, I can recommend the grilled asparagus, Idaho potatoes, and the mac & cheese.
The service here is outstanding. Friendly, knowledgeable about the restaurant and the area, and easy to find when you need them without ever being pushy.
The combination of the food, the service, and the lack of pretense that exists at a few other local restuarants makes this my favorite choice in Telluride.
We ordered seafood. The tower of seafood came was obviously frozen and defrosted. The oysters were not edible and the crab legs were too salty to eat. The shrimp on the top was actually quite good but that was the only thing we could eat on the tower, which was over $100. Also the service was quite slow, old plates were left on the table as well as empty drinks. We were very disappointed in the quality of the seaFood and the service. Maybe would be a better experience if we ordered some sort of steak dish. I guess we learned our lesson to not order seafood at the Sheridan chophouse.
My husband and I really enjoyed everything about this restaurant. Great food. All the tables were good but ours was by the window and it was fun people watching. We especially liked our waiter Travers, who was just the right amount of helpful, knowledgeable and unobtrusive. The bartender custom made my husbands drink (to his specifications) and adjusted it accordingly, resulting in a very happy husband! Pricy, but worth it.
Food is fantastic. The rooftop spectacular and has great service as does the dining area. The lower bar, however, has terrible service. The bartender was awful and argumentative when I stated that I wasn't satisfied with my martini. She was rude and said she would not fix it and refused to serve me. She then spoke to Parkley, her supervisor, and as the two flirted and looked at me, I decided to speak to Parkley as well. He apologized for her and offered free drinks. After 15 minutes of waiting for the drinks I went to find him. As I entered the dining area he disappeared to avoid me. I asked for the GM and spoke to Ray. He was very reasonable and offered free drinks and actually produced them. Stay away from the bar area adjacent to the dining area. Very rude and unprofessional. The young men that are the immediate supervisors are more interested in flirting with the staff than good customer service. I do recommend the dining area and rooftop bar. It's unfortunate they're attached to the separate bar. It really gives it a bad name.
I usually love this restaurant. Steak was over
cooked, potatoes tasted like they had been
cooked day before and warmed, fish was dry.
Appetizer shrimp was wonderful , and crab cake was just ok. Had I not had guests and such a nice waiter I would have complained. Really disappointed.
