Neta Ratings and Reviews
Been coming here for quite some time now. This was a huge surprise. Service was very shottie; For our actual server to the sommelier. Both seemed new and unsure.
Both of us had the omakase, this time is wasn't worth it. Three of the courses were horrible, in comparison to what was we have had in the past.
Not sure why, but I have always told people how great neta is, but this time, no so, at all.
Tucked into 8th St - so happy to have this sushi place in my neighborhood.
I really liked the menu variations. The sushi was fresh and delicious.
Especially the sea bream and salmon. I asked for tamari instead of soy and it
was no problem. I like the idea of the sushi "bar" so you can come alone.
Tables are a little close (had a loud talker next to us) but I have had worse.
Definitely more expensive than a lot of sushi places but I think it's worth it for
the variety and freshness. I will be back.
Made a reservation for my girlfriend's birthday. The quality of the sushi was outstanding! They also went out of their way to present a small birthday cake for my girlfriend, which was a surprise even to me! The service was great too, everyone was very accommodating. Happy to go back again!
9:15 seating and the first comment from our server is that it's last call for kitchen and they will be closing soon. If you are unable to properly serve a customer, then you should not take the reservation, charge their card in advance or seat them when your kitchen is about to close. Food is average and ambiance is none existent. Huge disappointment at every level.
We had a great experience at Neta months ago and were excited to return- unfortunately, this time around our experience was pretty negative. The food was much less flavorful than before and our tofu avocado rolls showed up without avocado- the waiter apologized and explained they have a new chef. Maybe they're just working out the kinks with this new person, but I doubt we'll be going back any time soon. The food wasn't anywhere near as good as last time.
Food was average.
Arrogant Manager. At lunch only 2 seats were occupied. I requested if we can have a table with 4 seats as there are bags and would like to be on a more spacious table.
He said he has the tables for 4 people and could not seat us. I could have understood if there is only 1 table but there were 4 tables open and the restaurant was empty.
Overly and shamefully overrated and should not occupy a spot among NYC sushi restaurants. This opinion does not consider the fact that it is certainly a waste of anyone's money and time especially in NYC where choices are in abundance, however, this opinion would hold true even if Neta was serving free sushi meals to a sushi connoisseur in the most rural areas where even edible sushi would be rare, completing a meal without wishing it would end soon would be challenging.
My wife and I went there because it is restaurant week and Neta was one of the featured outfits in an article that comes up at or near the top of a google search of "res week NY 2017". Got there at 6:30. Hole in a wall type of place with a barely visible sign. I was told they "only participate in lunch". What a scam!
Food (Nemaseke) was descent and service excellent. But bill came out to be ~$330 for two. Not sure I would pay for half that if I was not lured there.
I went to the restaurant with high expectations but I was dissappointed with the service there. The waiter gave me a wet hand towel but there was a really bad rotting smell to it and when I complained about it to the waiter, he simply smelled it and left without any words of apology and never came back with a new one. The owner/manager (I don't know which) witnessed the situation and followed the waiter into the kitchen, but he also chose to ignore it.
Food was good but they mixed up our order with another table's. No one got what they wanted and it took 3 hours. They comped part of the bill but the whole thing was a comedy of errors. They should also fix the lock on their sliding bathroom door. It doesn't work that well. Had an embarrassing interaction because of it!
