NERAI Ratings and Reviews
This is such a beautiful restaurant. The ambiance is perfect for a night on the town with your special someone. White, blue, imagine Mykonos colors... Service is the best I've ever had, and they are part of the no tipping movement. The food though...oh my goodness. The smears, the wood grilled octopus. Oh did I mention the risotto? My husband ordered the Cod and said there were simply too many flavors to enjoy at once. Go there, and thank me later.
The appetizers are really good. I had chips, octopus, and crab cake. I strongly recommend octopus. It’s so tender and definitely the best I’ve had. Entrees are not bad. I had rack of lamb and my partner had duck. I’ve had better lamb at streak house so I would give it 7/10. My partner loved the duck and I tried a little bit too. I say it’s a 8/10.
Great Experience. Went there after a matinee and the staff was wonderful. The food was great. Love the idea of tip built into the price, however, most of the meals can be a bit pricy and I would only go for special occasions. It is also great for a business lunch or dinner. The downstairs can get
The food and service were awesome. We were there for a birthday. The Spinach pies were excellent. The beet was great with very minimal dirt taste. I usually dislike beets due to the dirt taste, but they did a good job with it. I love non-tipping restaurant especially when the service is good. I like the idea that I know up front what I am paying in total already.
NERAI, WAS GREAT AND I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK.
We had a family celebration, babies to septuagenarians. The numbers kept changing -- added people came and the flu caused others to drop out, but the staff coped with it all and gave us a fabulous table. The decor is handsome. The service was friendly and first rate, the sommelier recommended a perfect Greek red enjoyed by all. But my highest praise is for the food, great salads, wonderful octopus, delicious short ribs. Altogether a memorable evening.
My wife and I get to the city a couple of times a year and Nerai had been one of our favorites. This night though the food and service were pretty uninspired. I had grilled octopus and dorado. The octopus was rubbery and I had the impression it was cooked the day before. The dorado was $44 (gratuity included) but I don't think the fish weighed 6 oz alive.....there was less than 4 oz of fish on the plate and the fish was served luke-warm. On the plus side, the sommelier helped us with an excellent Cretan wine. I think management should re-thing their "gratuity included" strategy as I believe it leaves little incentive for the wait staff....and it showed.
Early lunch was quiet. Shared the off menu special, a whole snapper for three, with beer/drinks first and a spinach appetizer with it. More spinach came with the fish. All fresh. The noise level rose during lunch as the restaurant filled up but was acceptable. A not tipping restaurant with excellent service. Expensive but worth it for location and food and ambiance
We enjoyed very much our new year's eve dinner at Nerai. Was a fixed price menu, consisting on 6 plates. All the plates were very nice presented, very good quantity. The mushroom soup was delicious, properly cooked filet mignon, delicious Greek fish. Very nice and intimate jazz group and impeccable service. We will come again to try the regular menu.
This was a great spot for a very good lunch before leaving the city. I was headed to the airport and wanted a nice meal and what I found at NERAI was above and beyond expectations. The staff was great, the bartender and I had a great conversation and the food was fantastic. The attention to detail in the food and the seeming desire to make it perfect was very welcome on my last day in the city this year. See you next year and we will certainly plan some business dinners here in the future!
All of the food was excellent as was the service. The only negative was that I asked for hot water with lemon and it came cold. I was catching up with a friend so I didn’t bother to ask for it to be swapped out. The lunch prices at Nerai are a little steep but the quality is very high (ingredients, preparation, presentation, service, etc) so I don’t mind it once in a while.
Exceptional dining experience! Amazing food, personable and efficient service, lovely ambiance, upscale authentic! This is a no-tipping restaurant, with 5 star quality in every detail. I've dined at Nerai each time I've visited NYC in recent months. Highly recommend for any occasion!
