NERAI Ratings and Reviews
All of the food was excellent as was the service. The only negative was that I asked for hot water with lemon and it came cold. I was catching up with a friend so I didn’t bother to ask for it to be swapped out. The lunch prices at Nerai are a little steep but the quality is very high (ingredients, preparation, presentation, service, etc) so I don’t mind it once in a while.
Exceptional dining experience! Amazing food, personable and efficient service, lovely ambiance, upscale authentic! This is a no-tipping restaurant, with 5 star quality in every detail. I've dined at Nerai each time I've visited NYC in recent months. Highly recommend for any occasion!
Not great Greek food. Maybe I’m spoiled because I’m Greek and I work with one of the best as well. Everything seemed prepackaged and frozen. The octopus and fish were just okay.. It was not fresh spanakopita or fresh filo in the desserts. Definitely not my favorite.
Amazing elevated Greek cuisine- don’t miss the octopus- meatballs - spanakopita for starters - the fresh grilled fish is done to perfection - the butternut risotto was fantastic - the wine list is varied with a wonderful selection of excellent Greek wines- - leave room for desserts- yogurt cheesecake outrageous !!!!!! Yogurt with honey and kataifi Ekmek delish !!!!!!! All included in price no tipping policy -
Waiter was a bit quirky, but kinda and attentive overall. This is a no-tip restaurant, but would have been satisfied and happy with the level and quality of service. Food was fine but not as good as past experiences—likely because we ordered relatively tame, unremarkable choices.
Wow! This was a great meal! Everything from when you step into the restaurant (beautiful, clean but comfortable decor), the excellent wait staff, host and hostess, to the amazing food, this was a great experience. The lavraki was perfectly seasoned and cooked and the desserts were amazing. Thank you for making this a great evening!
Beautiful restaurant. Wonderful service (attentive and gracious staff; everyone says hello to you). I was dining alone and sometime restaurants don't love that, but they gave me a great table.
The only hitch is I felt the food was just average. I was in Greece in June, so I ate a lot of Greek food (both high end and street food). And, for the prices, there was nothing remarkable about this food. Particularly the $24 Greek salad, which was just tomatoes, cucumber, olives and feta swimming in a bowl of olive oil and lemon. I understand that this the the classic recipe, but it also wasn't presented specially or creatively. I had the scallop entree, which was served on a bed of what looked like frozen peas, corn and carrots. Scallops were perfectly cooked and the pork belly was a pleasure, but it lost some points sitting on those peas. The highlight of the meal was the octopus appetizer. Tender and delicious.
I figured since this is a "no tipping" restaurant, some of the higher prices were supporting the amazing service. I enjoyed the experience, but not sure I would return for the food.
Having been used to noisy Greek family restaurants (and the odd plate smashing times), Nerai is like no other Greek restaurant ... the food is creative and great ... the service exceptional ... the staff friendly and efficient ... the Greek wine choices, and the staff recommendations, are to be followed. Combining everything, Nerai makes for a memorable dining experience. Unlike so many NYC restaurants if you want to take your time dining and spacing out the courses there is no issue at Nerai.
This is primarily Greek food, so do not expect something like a mixed salad to be available. The sea food is good, including the Salmon, Cod, and Octopus. They also have some tables outside for warmer days. This place has no tipping. I would definitely go back again.
Servers were friendly and attentive. Food, wine and Greek coffee was truly fabulous!! Unfortunately all courses came out almost at once and although servers were apologetic, that was difficult to remedy. We were rushed through what should have been a fine dining experience.
