   I just want to clarify that the service at our table was great however, on our way out, I requested a shuttle to a hostess named Tatiana. She said “OK I will order you one“ then she grabs a menu and seats a party of four and did not request our shuttle. I asked her if she already ordered our shuttle when she comes back from seating that table and she replies with “no I’m going to order it”. She then seats two more parties so then I asked her a third time if she can order the shuttle for us or if there is a phone number that I can call so that I can order it myself. The sun is about to set. It’s getting really cold. My date is not wearing a jacket and she is sitting on the bench freezing. We had a great time at Nelsons, but it was overshadowed by this hostess that refused to acknowledge me. And I am not sure if this is because I am a person of color and everyone else there wasn’t. What I do know, is I asked for a manager and once she heard me ask for a manager she ran over to the iPad and then requested a shuttle when the manager came up and asked her she said, I already ordered it. I just don’t understand why anyone thinks it’s OK to treat someone like this. I deserve to be acknowledged, too. And I was at the front of the line. Not sure we’ll be coming back.

   Service was poor, we kept having to ask for service. Server was nice but he didn’t put in part of order. He didn’t charge us for this. Food was good. View is awesome.

    LOVE this spot. But very disappointed in the food and service this visit. The menu was cut back to a only offering a few items, which seemed odd. Ordered chips and guacamole and the order came with salsa only, no guacamole. The waiter said nothing. When we asked for the guacamole, he said oh the kitchen just told us they are out. So we paid $16 for salsa and chips. 3 people ordered the Chicken sandwich which was the thinnest piece of chicken we have ever seen. Both swordfish and carne asada tacos were flavorless. I hate to write this review as we LOVE Nelson’s and Terranea, but felt this was worth calling out.

    Only complaint is the food. If you are only going to offer 4 or 5 choices, you need to do them really well. EPIC FAIL. The Chicken sandwich came on a undersauced pretzel bun. The chicken itself was underseasoned and had obviously been cooked earlier in the day. As for the side salad, it was lettuce with 2 cherry tomatoes. Come on, my 1st grader would have made a more imaginative salad. The service was fine, the view was better. DO BETTER I wouldn't recommend eating here to anyone. NOT NOW, NOT EVER!

    In short, a huge disappointment. A chilly day, so chose to eat inside (very few heaters at the outside tables). The restaurant was start, absolutely no 'ambience'. Bare tables, spaced well apart (of course), but totally lacking in warmth and appeal. Hamburger was tasteless, veggie burger was tasteless, fries very average, chicken sand ok. Server was friendly and helpful. Lunch for 4, with only one beer, was $120, with tip. A big miss.

    It was great to celebrate my birthday with lunch at Nelsons. Being out in the fresh air by the ocean felt wonderful after being cooped up so long during the pandemic. I had the lobster roll which came filled with ample large chunks of lobster. My husband had the mussels which were plentiful in a rich tasty broth. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. A bit pricey but worth it for the atmospher.

    We ate outside and the view is stunning. The guacamole is quite good. I had a burger with a salad. I had read reviews about their ranch dressing and it did not disappoint. Other meals at the table included the poke salad, quinoa salad and a portabella mushroom melt sandwich. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I just felt it was just a little bit pricey.

    The view was amazing - such an inviting environment! The food was simply average and overpriced in that aspect - the cocktails were also average and we tried to send one back because it was not correct and they wouldn't take it back but rather insisted that it was the correct drink.

    There were kids running all over the place, inside the fire pit, around the tables...was more like a daycare center than a restaurant at a five star resort. The hostess was rude.

    It was recommended to us for the views and it did not disappoint. Was surprised that the food was good too, sometimes restaurants can be overpriced because of its location, but we enjoyed our meal. Started with Poke Salad & Clam chowder. Then lobster roll & mussels for our main. Service was fantastic! And again the view is phenomenal.

    First, we were charged $15 to park our own car which I understand that’s what they are charging but there was no discount for dining at their resort. Second, we sat outside at Nelsons and the tent they used was obviously a rental and didn’t fit the whole space and just looked cheap. Big blocks on the ground of the tiedowns just did not look as professional as I would thought the resort would do. Third, ordered each lunch and also ordered the mussels and french fries as an appetizer, normally a full dish, which between four we knew would be the right size. Tasted great but there was wonderful broth , so we asked for bread and was given one small toasted piece of sourdough and charged two dollars! I would’ve paid for a baguette! It seems like they are trying to squeeze money from every spot they can. Very disappointed. Just dined outdoors at Pv golf club where they also had a tent over their outdoor patio and it was beautiful and custom sized. Not so at Nelson’s. Bummer all around. Staff at restaurant were fabulous, no reflection upon them.

    The service was so great and the the best I have had since the reopening of restaurants in southern CA. The food and drinks were delicious and such a great view. My best compliment to any restaurant would be if I would return again and I would return!

    The service was very slow. Food was ok, nothing out of the ordinary, which makes it a little pricy for what you’re getting. I always had to ask for water. They didn’t have a lot of things available from the menu.

    Four of us arrived at Nelson’s @ the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes to enjoy dinner and sunset over Catalina last Thursday evening (5:00 pm reservation). The calamari appetizer was excellent, but the lobster roll was not - turns out it’s really chilled lobster salad between two slices of bread. Swordfish sandwich was very good, and was enough to satisfy one of our hungry guests. Drinks were generous and well prepared. Our server was Clarence, who was friendly and attentive! The bill for the four of us was $234 (including tip), which seemed a lot for sandwiches and four cocktails; however, the views were breathtaking

    Lovely setting for sunset and celebration for a friend’s landmark Birthday. The waiter did it inform us of Happy Hour option. I requested it. He took an unexpected amount of time in providing info. He acted distracted. Food excellent. Will return and have already recommended it to numerous friends.

    Terranea Resort is like entering another world. Whether you stay at Terranea or go there for dinner, your experience will be memorable. We ate at Nelson's which is right at the edge of the ocean. It's such a beautiful setting. The food and service and Nelson's have always been great!

    Mainly I was disappointed in having to pay for parking, after getting a validation and paying quite a lot of money for a slightly above average meal. The servers were excellent. The ocean view was very fine.
