Nelson's at Terranea Resorts

The service was very slow. Food was ok, nothing out of the ordinary, which makes it a little pricy for what you’re getting. I always had to ask for water. They didn’t have a lot of things available from the menu.

Food was delicious, service was great. The views were the best part. Will definitely be back.

Four of us arrived at Nelson’s @ the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes to enjoy dinner and sunset over Catalina last Thursday evening (5:00 pm reservation). The calamari appetizer was excellent, but the lobster roll was not - turns out it’s really chilled lobster salad between two slices of bread. Swordfish sandwich was very good, and was enough to satisfy one of our hungry guests. Drinks were generous and well prepared. Our server was Clarence, who was friendly and attentive!

The bill for the four of us was $234 (including tip), which seemed a lot for sandwiches and four cocktails; however, the views were breathtaking

Lovely setting for sunset and celebration for a friend’s landmark Birthday.
The waiter did it inform us of Happy Hour option. I requested it. He took an unexpected amount of time in providing info. He acted distracted.
Food excellent.
Will return and have already recommended it to numerous friends.

Terranea Resort is like entering another world. Whether you stay at Terranea or go there for dinner, your experience will be memorable. We ate at Nelson's which is right at the edge of the ocean. It's such a beautiful setting. The food and service and Nelson's have always been great!

Send off for our son before he left to go abroad for the semester. Cannot beat the open view and setting!

Beautiful location, outstanding service, good food and comfortable atmosphere. Nothing more to ask for in your dinning experience. Love this spot.

Mainly I was disappointed in having to pay for parking, after getting a validation and paying quite a lot of money for a slightly above average meal. The servers were excellent. The ocean view was very fine.

Overall fine .... however I specified we were celebrating an anniversary when I made the OpenTable Reservation AND when hostess was seating us. NOTHING acted upon by Nelson’s staff. Disappointing.

We do not go to Nelson's enough. It was a relaxing Saturday afternoon, my wife's cousins were in town and we took them for lunch to Nelson's. The service was really great. The server took pictures of our group, recommended great food and even chased us down to tell us that the tip was included and we had double tipped. Very nice. The food was great. Big portions and the view can't be beat.

Service was very slow & showed disinterest. Had to pay for bread with lunch & food was just okay. At this price point I will not be eating here again. Use to like it but it is overrated

Love Nelson’s, windy night and they seated us outside with a 6 months old and two year old. 😩

It was closed upon our arrival. They said it has been closed for a couple days because of a power outage. It sure would have been nice if your site would have known that and not had me drive for 40 mins to get there and find this out

I love the location of this restaurant at Terranea and Amanda our server was wonderful, however, she had the entire patio by herself so service was slow and incomplete. It was not her fault. They are just understaffed. The big disappointment came when the food arrived. We ordered a hamburger and wedge salad to share (they were out of the ceviche). We thought the $25 wedge was the sides for the burger. It had four pieces of lettuce, a little dressing plopped on, a handful of cherry tomatoes cut up, and a thin and uncut (but yummy) breast of chicken. Seriously, $25 for that?

The whole experience was amazing, perfect ambiance, delicious food, and an amazing server. The server was interactive, friendly, and funny. So an amazing server to have at a restaurant.

Can't beat the view. Great place to take visitors. Overlooks the ocean. Food is good. Servers were very friendly and helpful. Have been many times and will be going back.

Go at sunset and sit outside. There are heat lamps and the ocean views are AMAZING! Food is very good. A bit pricey for some basic things.

I would recommend Nelsons for casual drinks and maybe appetizers, but not dinner.

Nelson's is a pleasant place to while away an afternoon with a leisurely lunch over looking the ocean. Definitely do get a table on the patio! The steak salad was amazing. The ceviche was good, but not sure it was worth the price (a lot of chips, not so much seafood). The crab salad was tasty, but because it was chopped, didn't really get much crab flavor, in fact couldn't really find it except for a few chunks that missed the chopper. The service was attentive, and I would definitely go again.

Nelson's is a special place. The resort and restaurant sit right on the cliffs in Palos Verdes. Amazing views.
Marineland of the Pacific used to be where the resort is now located. Great history. Sea Hunt, Lloyd Bridges, Mike Nelson. Look it up. Pretty cool.

Can’t recommend at this time. Smash burger was poor - tasted nothing like the excellent ones we had in June. Salad was terrible - drowned in champagne dressing that wilted the lettuce. Lime pie desert was also tasteless & terrible - no trace of key lime at all in the pie! June’s experience brought us back for our anniversary meal but we left very disappointed.

It was as beautiful and as special as I had heard. My first time here, and the view was gorgeous, the resort and landscaping was so beautiful and relaxing, the food was superb, and the service was perfect. Will definitely come back!

Awesome food and even better service with a great view.

We watched a perfect sunset while have a yummy cocktail. Our waitress recommended the swordfish sandwich and skirt steak...both were amazing!

John, with valet was excellent. The waiter was just right. The food was just what we expected, except for the fried green onions. The pinot, from our local winery, was just what I was looking for.

The 2 men who stood out were, John, from valet and our waiter Erick, he was " a keeper".

We felt like we were on a vacation, but only spent 2 hours there. We will come back.

Wait staff very accommodating. Manager came by many times to check on us. Beautiful setting and food very good. A little expensive, but understandable because of the location.

Lazy waiters. No one came to our table more than 10 mins before we ask to order. Outside seats were freezing so we asked heaters and they said they gonna bring, but it went to another table. We tried to order entrees after appetizers came but waiter didn’t come. We asked another staff but she said she is not in charge of my table. WE KNOW THAT!!! They brought other table’s dishes three times. Very disappointed. Will never visit again.
