Love this place. Great food, great service( thank you Gabriel!), wonderful ambience, even love the coat cabinet in front.
Thank you for a wonderful celebration for my wonderful husband's birthday! Nell's is his very FAVORITE restaurant!
We love Nell's. It is one of those rare restaurants where one can get fabulous food, have terrific service and actually carry on a conversation without shouting.
Truly delicious food and great service.
We came to celebrate Nell's 20th anniversary which means we've been loyal customers for 20 years. They offered a commemorative tasting menu but we opted for many of our tried and true favorites: the classic calamari appetizer originated by the previous owner of Saleh al Lago, the chanterelle mushroom risotto, the sweet onion tart with Jerusalem artichoke chips and the halibut. All executed perfectly as we always expect. I also tried the Iberico pork entree which came out a perfect medium rare with a nice char. It reminded me in taste and texture of the finest sirloin steaks. They offer a great selection of wines in half bottle formats and we tried two of them: the Billecart Salmon brut rose and the Chatauneuf du Pape Vieux Telegraphe. Delicious! We were ably served by Darrell and Paul who provided knowledgeable and professional service throughout the evening. Here's to Nell's next 20 years!!!
My wife and I have been dining at Nell's for many years. Once again dinner was absolutely perfect. Nell's never fails to be one of the best in Seattle!
Great food, with seasonal dishes and solid tasting menu. Service a bit slow even though it wasn’t that busy
The food was great, but had to wait for more than 20 minutes with reservation
Probably won’t go again during restaurant week.
We went for Restaurants Week. The place was full to capacity. The wait staff was professional, remained courteous and pleasant under pressure. Food was good and well prepared.
Outstanding value during restaurant week. In spite of being extremely busy, service was excellent.
Delicious food and nice ambiance. Only slight complaint is that you need more servers. Service was very very slow.
Busy neighborhood restaurant. The drinks, food and service were fine, but not memorable.
We went for Seattle restaurant week. Myself and my 13-year-old ordered the Seattle restaurant week three-course menu. My 12-year-old son ordered the duck confit entrée. The ambience was nice, the service was very good, and I would definitely go back to Nell’s even when Seattle restaurant week is not happening. Thanks for a nice experience.
What a fantastic little gem in Greenlake. One of my favorite restaurants in Seattle!
We went to Nell’s during restaurant week, and honestly even for that price it was overpriced. We waited for 20 minutes after our reservation time, while people who came in after us and had the same reservation time were seated before us. It seemed like the hostess just sat whoever she happened to see first when a table opened up. We hoped the food would be worth the wait; however, it was not. Starter and entree were both bland; between the two of us we had four dishes that ranged from not-great to fine. I will say both desserts were really good. Overall, okay food and not great service, all of which is not worth the price.
We took advantage of Seattle Restaurant Week to try Nell's for the first time. The menu options for Restaurant Week looked enticing. We had a reservation and did not have to wait long for our table to be ready. The restaurant was busy so service was a bit slow, but not bad. I started with the pumpkin soup and my husband had the Waldorf salad. The soup was tasty but not as hot as it could have been and the pepita's were too tough to chew. My husband enjoyed the salad. Our main courses were the poached cod and the beef bourguignon. Both were a bit overdone and had a dry texture. The desserts were very good, apple crisp and chocolate hazelnut torte.
We might try again and choose other items from the menu.
We have enjoyed eating at Nell’s for many years and recently enjoyed their restaurant week offerings. The pork was especially good and all the desserts were tasty.
It felt like eating in a retirement community. Food was good, but nothing exceptional.
This was really a lovely experience. Our Server was superb and the food was perfectly prepared and presented. If I were to make any changes, the only one I would think of would be to make the serving potion of the Beef Bouregionne slightly larger (only because it tasted so good!)
We were there for Restaurant Week. The service could not have been nicer. The menu selection were superb and we added a bottle (or two) if wine. This is one of our favorite restaurants and we are never disappointed.
Nell's is our favorite "go-to" restaurant in the Seattle area for any worthy occasion. Wonderful food, flexible menu options (small plates, large plates, tasting menu, wine pairings), professional and unobtrusive service, quiet enough to hold a normal conversation, extensive wine list. I couldn't ask for anything more.
We got to Nell's annually for Seattle Restaurant Week, and they always knock it out of the park in terms of meal quality and service. They don't have an overwhelming menu, which is a good thing - it means every course you get will be beautifully prepared, presented, and delicious. For SRW they have 3-4 choices for each course, all well balanced with each other. I usually want everything on the menu, which is a good sign. Dishes are often familiar but with a creative edge - nothing overly fussy, but also not boring. Portions are generous without being huge, and there are enough healthful ingredients that both your tongue and body will be happy. This is not food I could or would cook for myself at home, as a rule. Waitstaff are well trained (we saw one in training): friendly, down to earth, attentive, and subtle when they need to be. Atmosphere is upscale casual. My only small gripe is that the space is intimate, which feels nice overall but can mean in some places that you are overhearing conversations at the next table (and vice versa) at normal voice levels. ST often votes Nell's a "Best Value" for SRW and there's a reason for that - no weak link here, and we'll be back. It reminds me of Goldilocks - striking the "just right" balance in almost every way.
Nell's is consistently excellent. We had 7 in our party, four birthdays, and everyone commented on how tasty their starters and entrees were. Creative presentation, delicious sauces, a variety of choices on the menu, and classy ambience. One can actually carry on a conversation! The wine list was superb also. We will return,
We were very very impressed with nails food and French wine pairing. the ambience and the service was excellent. . We did not realize that it was a chef appreciation night until we got there. We loved the monk fish with fennel sauce, the scallops and the venison. the food greatly exceeded our expectations worthy of a Michelin star. We also greatly appreciated the history lesson of Joel Rouchon. Of further note was the servings. All at the same time for the table. all at the proper temperature
We always enjoy having dinner at Nell's. The service is good, the waiters friendly and attentive. The ambiance and noise level allow for quiet thoughtful conversation. We come as often as we can afford.
Nell's is a wonderful restaurant, and the food and service are reliably good.
One of the best meals I have ever had. I am not a meat eater and the chef was so kind to make a few substitutions that were phenomenal! Our waitress was very accommodating and professional. I love this place. Going back next week. Thank you Nells.
I could have eaten a whole bucket of each of my three courses! Nell’s has become our favorite restaurant for dinner. It is also sublimely peaceful with quiet dining music. We dislike the noise and mayhem of many other restaurants.
We went to dinner for our 24th Wedding Anniversary and were amazed by the service and the food. We had driven by Nell’s for nearly 20 years but had never eaten there. I would advise those who love good food, service and value to give Nell’s a try. You will not be disappointed.
Locally sourced and delicious meal. We took a walk around Greenlake and had an appetite. We started with the mushroom risotto that had a wonderful nutty texture and infused with the Pamesan and mushroom flavors. Next we spilt the local greens, prepared lightly with olive oil, hints of lemon and chives. The goat cheese gave it a nice punch. The entrees were the special pork loin that was juicy and fork tender on a bed of well prepared veggies. The Salmon was flavorful with the crispy skin and accompanied with sunchokes and baby snap peas-tasty. The dessert was a combination of the flour less chocolate cake that has the scrip outside skin and savory chocolate inside. It was smothered with a house made blueberry sorbet, rich in flavor that was perfect ending to a great meal. All good and only wish that the lights are lowered a bit more, and we will be back soon!
Excellent as always.
LOVE this restaurant. Classic, elegant, fantastic food and cocktails, and oh so quiet! No thumping bass in the background-we could actually converse. The waitstaff is polite and knowledgeable, and the Greenlake view is fun!
We keep coming back and bringing friends and family who agree with us wholeheartedly...Best restaurant in Seattle
I loved the top corner table they gave me where I could have a quiet conversation with my companion.
The chefs need to do a lot better with fish. I had cod, others had halibut. It was not very well prepared, needs a sauce or something to make it more moist and tasty.
Lovely service, seasonal and savory food, great location.
Fantastic gem in the Green Lake area. Food, service, wine were outstanding and a great value for what you get. The only area for improvement would be the ambiance/decor of the restaurant, which could be improved but did not detract from the experience.
Absolutely lovely place to enjoy the company of good colleagues/friends over very fine cuisine with excellent service. One of the few places where one can have such an experience and also be able to share conversation in a relatively quiet atmosphere. Thank you, Nell's!
Fantastic service and food. A gem
Everything is exceptional about Nell's. The calamari and heirloom tomato small plates were as good as it gets. And the pork entree was beautifully combined with squash and figs in a peach jus. Service as usual was spot on and was complemented by the "neighborhood restaurant " feel. And Nell's has a great wine list.
