The food and service were both excellent and the wine list offered many fine choices. We would definitely go back!
Every bite was amazing!!
Never fails to exceed expectations. Time and time again, I've brought family, friends and colleagues to this restaurant and they always walk away impressed.
Lovely setting, outdoors across from Greenlake. Delightful staff and super chef. This is the place to go for a leisurely meal with friends. Indoors or out, the atmosphere is calm and relaxing, and the food is perfect.
The Tasting Option is a well balanced and quite affordable choice. The venison is superb. The dining setting is comfortably cozy with acoustics quite good.
The food and drinks were outstanding! The service was very good-- attentive without being pushy or obsequious. There were a couple of mistakes in the order which I am inclined to dismiss as nothing more than the post-lockdown stumbles of a restaurant trying to get its operations running smoothly again. The ambience is excellent save for a couple pieces of art on the walls that some might find a bit jarring during a meal. As for value-- Dinner for four with three cocktails, a glass of wine, tax and tip was about $280.00. But the food was truly delicious.
The outside tables are perfect. Though on the sidewalk, it is quite wide so not close to the street which is not busy. There's a nice view to Green Lake. The food is delicious and the service friendly without being overwhelming, just attentive. The focus on locally sourced food is just what we were looking for.
Nell's is a great restaurant. It located on beautiful Green Lake. Excellent high-level stuff here. Good wine list. Very enjoyable. Impress guests or your date.
We ate outside on a beautiful evening. All was very nice, food, service and ambience. We will go back again soon!
Halibut was dry. Everything else was great, especially the corn soup and the service.
What a gem of fine dining tucked into a neighborhood! We could not decide, so we indulged in the tasting menu. The halibut first course was perfectly executed with a fine crisp outside layer which kept the fish moist and flavorful- all surrounded by fine fennel shavings. Risotto was delicate with ripe cherry tomatoes in a nutty and rich aborio rice laced with Parmesan. The special tender Iberian pork was sliced and served on a bed of sweet potato medallions and tasty veggies. The wine list has both French and local NW accompaniments and the desserts home made which made for a memorable dinner!
The food as usual was delicious and our waiter was excellent - helpful, pleasant, funny.
The server recommended the duck, while mentioning both fish dishes and steak were very delicious and ordered often, but the duck is a more unique item menu and equally beloved. She was not wrong. It was perfectly cooked, so tender and seasoned to perfection. I love turnips, so it was great to have those, along with squash & zucchini as the accompanying vegetables. I ate outside, by Greenlake. It was 82 degrees and I had a nice shady spot to enjoy the warmth, a breeze, and not get baked. The chairs outside were insanely UNcomfortable though. Maybe that’s why I was the only one on the patio that entire time. That was really the only downside of the entire experience. I had the chocolate tart to take home for dessert, which was delicious.
Given the rating and reviews, I had high hopes. I was pretty disappointed, but the well-meaning staff did their level best. We had to park a few blocks away, and the outside table we booked was unavailable. The first two entrees my husband tried to order were also both unavailable, and our appetizer (small plate) took almost 25 minutes to arrive. For $150 (one drink each, one appetizer, two entrees), I expected a little better.
A reservation was easy to make. There was no wait for a table. The service was excellent and the food was very good. Prices seemed a little high, but this may be the result of COVID.
Intimate, fine dining, quiet, great service, great food, not cheap.
The food and service are unparalleled. Gem in every way
This restaurant continues to be our favorite in Seattle as it has for many years.
Great food! We enjoyed it greatly.
I love this restaurant. The food is consistently outstanding and the service is impeccable. I get the attention I need when I need it...no more no less. It's a lovely place for conversation, celebration and relaxation.
We completely enjoyed Nell’s tasting menu last night. Completely delicious. It was our first restaurant dining since Feb. 2020, so it was so nice to have such a terrific evening.
We have missed going to Nell's for the last 15 months!!! It was a regular spot for my wife and me, often the restaurant of choice for our special occasions. We finally celebrated our COVID Independence on Saturday, July 3. Skye took great care of us and everything was just as we remembered. The tasting menu offered a seared sockeye salmon, snap pea risotto with mint and parmesan, grilled venison with summer squash gratin, a cheese plate and a strawberry shortcake with whipped cream and raspberry sauce. Every dish was perfectly executed and very delicious with a great variety of flavors and textures across the board. We also like that they offer numerous wines in half bottle formats. We chose a Laurent Perrier brut NV to start and finished with an Altesino Brunello di Montalcino. The Brunello was a perfect complement to the venison. So rich and long with sweet raisins, black currants and fresh figs. We'll be back soon.
Nells never fails to consistently provide creative and spectacular food and service.
Nell’s is the place for a sure-fire beautiful meal with a wine list to match. Even though super-hot outdoor temperatures taxed a small wait staff, servers were gracious and informative. We are pleased that this restaurant is emerging from the pandemic era with its style and substance intact!
Nell's is a lovely neighborhood restaurant near Green Lake. The ambience is quiet so you can actually carry on a conversation. Staff was friendly and food very good. I would definitely return.
Good ambience, bad food. Every dish on the tasting menu was.... not good enough.
Salty tar tar (way too salty)
Rack of lamb that i could get much cheaper somewhere else and better quality.
Nothing objectively terrible, but for sure a restaurant on the way out in terms of quality to cost ratio.
I live in seattle and i will never go back to nells, but i hope they get their act together.
Slow, but good service.
Always have a wonderful time at Nell’s. It’s a Seattle classic and we always celebrate special occasions there! The food is always incredible and this time was no exception. The service is impeccable and we love the head chef! Try the tasting menu, it’s the best.
We had the tenderest duck breast ever, also very nice halibut and delicious appetizers.
Outstanding food, service, and dining environment! Our special night out go to place - birthdays, special occasions, out of town guests, and other celebrations.
Enjoyed the mahi mahi and venison, all well prepared. Nice birthday dinner
Each evening is a treat-best of the season with local ingredients. Every course is prepared with extra care and the delicate saucing. We are frequent flyers here!
We had delicious fish and pork dishes. Great preparation and nice setting
We had great food. Love that they have small plates so I was able to have 2! Dessert was amazing too. Definitely will go back
The noise level was due entirely to a party of 6 at a nearby table talking very loudly. Not much the restaurant could have done about that. On previous visits quiet conversation was possible.
Nell's is the favorite special-occasion restaurant for my wife and I, but pricey for more than 1 or 2 visits a year.
It was a lovely quiet dinner .
Hanger steak was too salty, rack of lamb portion was paltry. Interior is a bit old and tired. Service was fine. Location benefits from having a patio facing the park/lake.
WE love this place. it's kind of locals hangout. In the summer, you can sit outside and watch the joggers go by at Greenlake. Food is always good and thewine list is excellent.
Great food and service on every visit. Wonderful outside dining weather permitting .
This place continues to be one of the best kept secrets in Seattle. Amazing NW ingredients with a french style of cooking. Just unbelievably good!
