Nice clean set up. We stand at the entrance for almost 4mins.
Excellent service! We were there for our Bosses year anniversary being cancer free. I had put that in the reservation. They were VERY accommodating. They provided a free dessert and a managers discount. It was totally unexpected but very much appreciated.
The food was excellent also.
We will return and recommend others.
This was my first brunch at Nel Centro and it was delicious. The options were healtheir than I expected and all of our meals were excellent.
Everything was amazing. Very friendly and capable staff. And, they make a great Bloody Mary!
This is the greatest place for dining before going to an event at the Keller. Such good food and service to add the a fun matinee or evening experience.
We love eating there before or after an event at the Keller. Unfortunately everyone else was there before the event so service was somewhat uneven. Only part of our items came out, then later others, then finally all got there. We could not eat at the same time. But we did not mind a bit since it close to the event, great food, comfortable and the staff is very nice and accommodating. Lemon Drops are superb!
First time dining at Nel Centro and we loved it. Will be back soon. Friendly and attentive staff and a wonderful meal.
Our service was outstanding. Our waitress was very attentive but not intrusive. Her recommendations for dinner and wines were perfect. We were there for pre-theater dinner and the 2 hr recommended time allotment was ideal and we never felt rushed. Our booth was separated enough from the bar area to allow us to enjoy each others conversation. This is my third time to this venue and definitely not my last, the food has always been top notch.
We had a great time. The waitress was a joy and everyone was so attentive and friendly.
I will definitely come back
Friendly service, observant without interrupting the group. Wonderful menu and delicious
The food was good, the service was excellent, but the ambiance was cafeteria. All customers have limited dining dollars and, with the multitude of options in Portland, this is not a restaurant to which I will return. Watching the waitstaff replenishing the ice at the bar was more than disturbing. I lost my appetite. The man brought two buckets of ice stacked one on top of the other to the bar, rested them on the bar sink, dumped the ice in the well, stacked the empty buckets, rested them on the bar, and returned minutes later with more ice. Perhaps hygiene training would alleviate this practice.
Excellent professional service. Food mediocre. Not as good as previously.
Great cocktails outside by the fire before we headed inside for dinner. The food was really good. I loved the short ribs. Atmosphere was stylish and modern but never pretentious.
Excellent as usual
We were having dinner prior to the Ballet, so Nell Centro is always a favorite. They get you in and out with time to spare for any events.
The only downside, it was March dining month and we were not offered this selection. It would have been nice to have been asked if we were interested in this option.
Great food and wine selection. Great service, our waitress asked if we were going to a show and kept an eye on time for us!
Fine dining at reasonable prices. Portland Dining month deals make it an even better deal. Had the chicken, and beet salad, peace sorbet after, all terrific!
Delicious and great service. Next time will save room for dessert.
We had a great time with friends we hadn't seen in a while. The service was unobtrusive, allowing us to talk and laugh together with our friends. Each of us had a different menu item and all were very good.
Jazz brunch was quintessential Portland yumminess on all levels!!
Service was a little slow at first, but ended up being pretty good. The food was good, and after dinner, we went outside and had drinks around the fire pit, which was warm enough to keep us comfortable despite very cold temperatures. There were strings of white lights, making everything fun and festive. We had a lot of fun and would certainly return. Good value.
One of our favorite spots in Portland. Great Happy Hour and outdoor patio.
We really enjoyed our meal. It's a lively place so at times it was hard to have a quiet conversation but the energy is good. Also, great service provided by Matt. Strikes an excellent balance on many dimensions!
Both of our meals were delicious. I asked for a wine recommendation to pair with my dish and it was spot on!
Location is very convenient for Shnitz or Newmark and the food is very good. While not inexpensive, the service was excellent and the menu options tasty. I would recommend this place for a pre or post performance bite.
Some of the most excellent food I have had. Served beautifully and portioned just right. Servers are attentive and friendly. We had a show to go to after dinner at the Keller, and they always ask so they can get us out on time. We have never had an issue with time. I make reservations on-line, so it's very easy and convenient. I highly recommend this restaurant if you have not tried it!
Excellent, as always. Always wishing for more pasta options with meat as opposed to veg or seafood though.
Brunch with jazz was awesome!!
Great service. Need more fish on the menu. What happened to halibut? It hasn't been offered our last three visits.
Dinner before a play at the Keller
Busy place especially at happy hour which is available at the bar or the cool outdoor space (which could use some more heaters in winter.) The Beef short ribs weren't as flavorful as I would have expected and the polenta was bland and gummy. The rib-eye steak was presented alone on the plate- or so you thought, the kale (very tasty) was hidden underneath. Underwhelming presentation. Nice wait staff, attentive and helpful to get you on your way to a show.
While our server was excellent it took 3 times for the kitchen to get one of the dishes we ordered correct. One of the people in our party ordered flat iron steak, medium well. All of our meals were delivered, but the server said it would be a couple more minutes for the steak. When it finally came, it was more on the rare side, very red in the middle, rather than medium well. It was sent back and the server said that it might be best if she ordered something else from the menu as the steak may take a while. So she ordered gnocchi. It came quickly, however it was cold. Not even a bit warm! So that was sent back and by the time a plate of warm gnocchi came, the rest of us were done with our meal. The only consolation was that she was not charged for the meal. The server was very gracious and apologetic, but I don't know what was going on in the kitchen that night!
Saturday lunch (12:30PM).... apparently understaffed (as it was mentioned). Several server mistakes and very long wait times for the simplest things like a beer took FOREVER. Extremely disappointed. Food was OK... pizza was weak. Charcutterie plate was great. For the price you would expect good service and when the server WAS there you would at least expect him to get it right.
While they only serve their bar menu on Saturday, it was filled with great options. We had the rotessire chicken sandwich. The chicken was moist, the aioli terrific, the bacon crisp, and the foccocia was buttery and crisp. I would definitely go back. We’ll try the brunch next!
We were there for lunch before a 2 pm show at the Keller. The hotel was fully booked, as we were told when we checked in, the show sold out. Why would Nel Centro, two blocks from the Keller be under-staffed? Twenty minutes for a glass of house wine when the restaurant was not yet a third full. A waiter who was clearly increasingly frustrated, hurried, and overworked. A limited menu, as expected. This was night and day a different experience than our dinner on the previous night. Nel Centro brought its A game for dinner, not for lunch.
Nel Centro did a great job with our large group - holding our tables, giving us attentive but not too attentive service, and the food was delicious to boot (mmm oxtail pappardelle!). Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a downtown dining experience.
This was one of the most enjoyable dinners I have had in a restaurant. The seared tuna was outstanding, the sides spot on. Our server, Russ , was excellent. Despite multiple tables, he was charming, attentive, and knowledgeable about Mediterranean cuisine. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Nel Centro, and look forward to dinner there again!
Russ, our waiter, was awesome from when we sat down & all through our dining experience. We split the rib-eye steak which was a special, delish!
Maybe it was an off night, but my friend and I had dinner before the Broadway show, and it was AWFUL. My $22 Rosotto was not only cold and flavorless, it tasted old. My friends gnocchi was similarly underwhelming. It took over an hour for us to get out entrees. We made it in plenty of time for our 5:30 show, and the staff was very friendly.
