Neighborhood Services Ratings and Reviews
I love this place - the food is always wonderful and great service as well. It can be very loud. We had an 8PM seating - it gradually cleared out while we were there so not as loud this particular evening. The special dessert was bananas foster fried pie - awesome!!
Love this place but access to bar is horrendous. unless your belly-up to bar...no chance your getting a drink. Then if you try to get up to bar...Bartenders look at you and avoid you until you feel like your from another planet. Will certainly go back for Dinner only and have a couple drinks before I go.
I am so very lost. We went to Neighborhood Services because we were told it was great and getting a reservation was nearly impossible. We ended up with one the evening after Valentine's at 8:30.
The quick answer is it wasn't great; it was fair at best. We were seated promptly and the hostess had confirmed reservations the day prior. We were greeted quickly and even got drink suggestions and a perfect summation of the specials, but after that it was just, okay.
First, I do not remember a single table check on food quality for any course. The food was okay, but if you do have a problem, this becomes an issue. Maybe it was the lateness of night and servers wanting to be out, but it felt a little off.
Second, from the menu, spicy tuna tartare is just tuna. I could not find spice at all, unless they just meant by name. Naming a dog Rex doesn't make him a king. Similarly, naming something spicy that is just bland doesn't do it either. Sorry.
Finally, and this may be a space issue, but the noise level was over the top. I literally had trouble hearing the server and across the table.
The person who recommended Neighborhood Services specifically wanted to go there. His comments were:
* servers knew the specials and prices (true),
* service was excellent (I thought it was okay, not excellent),
* food was exceptional (it could have been, but it really was exceptionally average).
Good luck to you. I am not fighting for reservations for average. If I am in the neighborhood it is possible I will try again, but can't recommend to you until there is a big improvement.
I try to make it Neighborhood Services at least twice when I am in Dallas for a week.
Writing this good review comes with hesitation, they are now so popular I was only able to get in one night.
For the June market I have on my calendar to make reservations in May.
I’ve been to the neighborhood services in Addison a few times, with a great experience each time. My wife and I decided to try the Lovers Ln location and was disappointed. Service and ambience were fine. The food wasn’t. Tried the tuna tartare and it was bland. Tried the aged Delmonico medium rare for my main course and it was not flavorful. Had to sprinkle some salt and pepper on it, which helped somewhat. There was also a lot of gristle in the steak. Next time I’ll go to a steak house for a good $55 steak. Wife had a similar experience with her white fish. I will say that my steak came with a salad which was very tasty.
Table for 6 at 6:00 on a Friday night. Felt a little rushed by waiter, but could understand, as it was a Friday night. But he made it pretty obvious that he was rushing us. Needs more finesse. Other than that, food was very good, simple-- in the best way. Great neighborhood restaurant (hence the name, I suppose). Signage is non-existant, so trust your GPS and not your eyes (we had to look for the valet stand to find the restaurant, since there is no sign). In the same building as the Time Out Tavern, which has excellent signage ;)
