The bathrooms are a must-see.
The salad could use 1/2 the dressing as the dressing overwhelmed the flavor of the fresh veggies.
The food is savory.
The food here is excellent. They have fantastic vegetarian options and meat options alike, the restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and well thought out. Service is perfect as well. Great wine list. The wine pairing option is a great value and a lot of fun. We loved the hen of the woods mushroom dish, the trout and meat dishes are cooked in a fire roasted oven. Our favorite, intimat, restaurant in Portland!
We really enjoyed the share plate/appetizers and entrees we ordered. All of them were delicious and well crafted. We are fans and will definitely be back soon!
Ned Ludd never fails to deliver dishes that are fresh, seasonal, creative and delicious in a delightfully cozy setting with topnotch service. It was a wonderful evening shared with special friends.
I love the ambience. It feels swanky yet comfy, and the food is soooo good. Especially any of the vegetable dishes, always wonderful. The mushroom toast is my favorite thing. And their service is always top notch. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Excellent service (our waitress was FANTASTIC) and delicious food. Did the prix fixe menu with wine pairings and loved every bite of food and every sip of wine!
This was the first visit by all four diners and we truly enjoyed the entire experience. From the moment we entered we felt welcomed. The food was delicious. Hot food was hot; cold food was cold. We'll be back!
I hadn't been there in 8+ years. I was thrilled with this second experience! Everything was delicious and they catered to all palettes. Thank you!
This was our first time visiting Ned Ludd, but I'm sure it won't be our last. We began by sharing an excellent salad; the wait person had kindly suggested that their salads were large enough for two. Fresh greens, labneh, spiced walnuts. Our entrees were the half chicken and the roasted whole trout. My chicken was completely deboned and excellently spiced and cooked. As good as the chicken was, I enjoyed the sides even more: an eggplant puree and roasted chanterelles. My husband's trout was also totally deboned. It was tender and quite flavorful. We shared a birthday treat for dessert, which they brought with a candle. It was a panna cotta with fig - great fall flavors on a traditional panna cotta base. The wine selection is quite impressive. The restaurant is pretty small and feels kind of cramped - that's the only thing I marked it down for. Otherwise, it was an excellent experience with seasonal foods and great service.
Good experience and good service!
We did the family meal and it was amazing! The chef created one of the best meals we’ve ever eaten. So much good food!
Twas a tasty evening at Ned Ludd. I'm a big fan of fire roasted anything so this was right up my alley. Every dish was spot on. We ordered about 6 or 7 dishes to split among four people and this was enough. We almost went with the Chef's Feast but I'm glad we didn't. The carrots were amazing, as was the chicken, the ribeye, the melon salad, the mushroom toast. All good. Drinks were also tasty. I'm sure we'll be back at some point.
We have been dining at Ned Ludd for years. It is one of our favorite spots. We have our favorite menu items to be sure. We had some family in from out of town and decided this was a great place to share with them. We decided, for the first time crazy enough, to do the family feast. IT WAS AMAZING!! So many delicious “off menu” items as well as some menu staples that provided an wonderful culinary experience. Just stunning....we may have been ruined...we just might want to do the feast every time from now on.
Always delightful, ever consistent and an absolute Portland gem. Highly recommend this to anyone!
This was the second time we’ve done the Family Feast, and it was well worth it once again. Everything is so fresh and has so much flavor. The wine pairings are worth it as well. Definitely get plenty of everything, and you won’t leave hungry!
One of the best dining experiences I had throughout my travels across the world. A farm to table experience that customizes the experience based upon the fresh food of the day. We were a group of six who asked our waiter, Fia, to bring us what was best and after asking us a few questions, she went to work with the chef. It’s a little difficult to find but thank goodness since people will flood the place once the word gets out. Everything is new each h day so hard to recommend one thing. So fresh and so good. They could easily charge more.
It is our favorite restaurant in Portland!
Always delicious and the service and cocktails are fantastic.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Fun, swanky, hip, while also being comfortable.
Another triumph. Fantastic food and drinks. Always delicious, creative, and seasonal. Love this place and it’s great knowing that they’re a restaurant who pays the staff a living wage.
Love this place! Great ambiance, friendly staff, epic flavors.
Nice enough place. Hidden from street view. Food was good. Limited menu for both food and drink.
We had a great time at Ned Ludd. We had the Mizuma greens and shishito pepper salads to share, and they were fine, though the latter was short on shishitos. Raves for the mushroom toast (extremely yummy) and the flatbread, which comes out warm and pillowy, with a nice dip. The gnocchi, ribeye and albacore tuna entrees the five of us shared were very good. One of these days I am coming back to get the trout. For dessert we had two wonderful chocolate chip Cookes, and a nice dish of vanilla ice cream. The decor and atmosphere are fun and cozy, and the service excellent. Our server was good at helping us choose, and I think our only error was not following her advice and getting the heirloom tomato salad, which I bet was great. All this and drinks for a reasonable amount. Recommended!
It’s been too long since I’ve been here but nothing has been lost in the quality. Excellent fresh tomato and burrata salad. And my usual whole trout was delicious as always. I won’t wait so long next time.
Second visit....possibly better than the first!!! We had trout, tuna and pork chops....all were amazing!
Ned Ludd is always great.
Great meal. I love the amazing things they do with vegetables. Our server was fantastic- great recommendations, helped us pick the perfect meal.
We got the chefs tasting menu 👍 was delicious and we left stuffed!
Fabulous food. Interesting, surprising, delicious combinations of flavors. Great servers able to accommodate dietary restrictions (gluten free, pescatarian).
The food and service was impeccable. How they cook such great food including Gnochi in a pizza oven I will never know. Reccomendations from our waiter were spot on. Definitely making a trip back to Ned Ludd next time my wife and I visit Portland.
Pickles like the original Henry Thiele restaurant. Gnocchi was amazing. Great dessert. Best food anywhere! Lovely servers.
An amazing array of small plates with wonderful flavors. Beautiful outside seating. Nice wine list. A very memorable evening.I had seen a couple of comments that the portion sizes weren’t very large, but that was absolutely not true. We had so much food. All delicious.
Wonderful meal. The whole trout an the steak. Both superb. Dodn't love the charcuterie board. Could have had just the salmon part.
Always innovative and enjoyable. Wine list is well thought out and fairly priced.
Great service, amazing food, servers were great explaining every dish.
portions are okay and wine vireity exceptional. Might be a bit pricey.
We really enjoyed our dinner here. We got the $60 family style dinner. Everything was delicious! The wine paring was a good deal too. Service was friendly and efficient. We’ll be back!
Went for our anniversary dinner, the specials were outstanding, the service was attentive and very friendly. Loved the cocktails, though the pickle juice back was a bit heavy on onion flavor. Desserts were outstanding. We'll be back again soon!
Excellent food. Would be nice to have some half bottles on the wine list and a more extensive wine list.
Perhaps the best meal I have ever had. Their sauces were incredible—from the salad dressing to the meat marinade. The wine flight was wonderful. The prices were remarkably reasonable. And the service was exceptional. It is what every other restaurant would like to be. They are artists of the craft.
Ned Ludd is the best meal I have when I'm visiting Portland
Excellent Food, Outstanding Service, Comfortable Environment. We will absolutely go back.
As always, the most lovely food and service. One of my favorite Portland restaurants ever!
