Great food--very creative and flavorful. Great service. Will definitely go back.
Food and service were great. It had been years since I had been there and need to go back more often!
Once you are seated, they bring you some tasty nibbles to enjoy while you peruse the menu. My Flank steak was perfectly cooked and the Slow-Roasted Porchetta melted in your mouth. Our server, Fia, was excellent. Tasty drinks and an excellent music on the stereo. Wonderful dining experience. I look forward to returning soon.
My wife and ordered the Feast, which is basically chef's choice off the menu. It was fantastic! Five courses, not over priced, healthy portions, and dessert to top it off. Can't wait to go back.
Service was the star tonight. Top notch, attentive, friendly, and fun. Dishes were good but some hit and missed. The octopus salad was inventive yet the octopus was overly fishy and cooked far too long as it was dry and tough... Gnocchi was excellent... great burned butter flavor, moist yet chewy, and came with wonderful squash. Porchetta was excellent but it had way too much sweet accompaniments (apples and grapes) and wish it was a little more balanced. Chocolate chip cookie in a skillet was excellent but needs to come with more than a couple ounces of milk (which is amazing!).
Great food and atmosphere. Highly recommend it. Thanks
4th visit. Not enough salad choices. And our table of 5 looks like it got the same amount of food as the 2 top next door. 2 rolls of trout for 5 people? Too meant picked veggies. Change up the dessert.
Picked this restaurant based on reviews from various websites. The menu has limited options, but done very well!! We loved all of our choices. The restaurant is very cozy as well.
Ned Ludd always does an outstanding job of making us feel welcome. Thank you
We celebrated a birthday dinner at Ned Ludd’s, and overall had a good time. The food was absolutely delicious; we started with the octopus salad and mushroom toast, both extremely delicious, and had the trout and salmon entrees. The trout was the best we had ever had and full of flavor. The service was attentive and the ambiance warm and inviting. The only downside was the extremely loud and ill-fitting music that was blasting throughout the restaurant. We had to yell to hear each other talk, which was unpleasant. If the noise factor is corrected, this place would be perfect.
Always a great choice, no matter the occasion! The Hatchet specialty cocktail was wonderful and the Duck confit was AMAZING!!!
Coming here at minimum 3 times a year. The atmosphere, staff, and food are amazing. We always order at least one of the specials and never have been disappointed. Typically dessert is not on our mind, but their ice cream and sorbets or to die for. See you soon !
Nice salad and the rye gnocchi was a new twist for me. The chocolate cake with cocoa nibs is a must!
Feast was good deal to get their taste And good price.
Service was fantastic. Our server was articulate and knowledgeable. Although we did not order the feast, we did order quite a few dishes and were pleased with most. The only reason for the 4 star was because the Rye Gnocchi was very dense and chewy. We opted out of dessert, but it was a fun dining experience. We'll definitely got back next time we're in town.
Wonderful place to spend an evening. The early menu was much appreciated for those of us on a budget
The food is delicious. Service is very friendly and helpful. We will go back!
We had an excellent visit. Food, staff, and function was excellent! Don’t ask, just go!
Always a unique experience here with terrific wood fired food that has a ton of flavors unlocked.
Ned Ludd is my favorite Portland restaurant. I've been here many times. It is consistently superb, across the board.
We were seated by the kitchen, our favorite place for it is quieter than the main room and we can see all that the kitchen creates. The servers were engaging and knowledgeable about the food and the story of the restaurant.
Every item of food is crafted, local, immediately served and plated artistically. The selections are complementary, the overall menu is short.
The wine list is global. Someone knows their wine and is not beholden to a distributor.
The overall experience impressed each of the three of us.
The bathrooms are a must-see.
The salad could use 1/2 the dressing as the dressing overwhelmed the flavor of the fresh veggies.
The food is savory.
The food here is excellent. They have fantastic vegetarian options and meat options alike, the restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and well thought out. Service is perfect as well. Great wine list. The wine pairing option is a great value and a lot of fun. We loved the hen of the woods mushroom dish, the trout and meat dishes are cooked in a fire roasted oven. Our favorite, intimat, restaurant in Portland!
We really enjoyed the share plate/appetizers and entrees we ordered. All of them were delicious and well crafted. We are fans and will definitely be back soon!
Ned Ludd never fails to deliver dishes that are fresh, seasonal, creative and delicious in a delightfully cozy setting with topnotch service. It was a wonderful evening shared with special friends.
I love the ambience. It feels swanky yet comfy, and the food is soooo good. Especially any of the vegetable dishes, always wonderful. The mushroom toast is my favorite thing. And their service is always top notch. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Excellent service (our waitress was FANTASTIC) and delicious food. Did the prix fixe menu with wine pairings and loved every bite of food and every sip of wine!
This was the first visit by all four diners and we truly enjoyed the entire experience. From the moment we entered we felt welcomed. The food was delicious. Hot food was hot; cold food was cold. We'll be back!
I hadn't been there in 8+ years. I was thrilled with this second experience! Everything was delicious and they catered to all palettes. Thank you!
This was our first time visiting Ned Ludd, but I'm sure it won't be our last. We began by sharing an excellent salad; the wait person had kindly suggested that their salads were large enough for two. Fresh greens, labneh, spiced walnuts. Our entrees were the half chicken and the roasted whole trout. My chicken was completely deboned and excellently spiced and cooked. As good as the chicken was, I enjoyed the sides even more: an eggplant puree and roasted chanterelles. My husband's trout was also totally deboned. It was tender and quite flavorful. We shared a birthday treat for dessert, which they brought with a candle. It was a panna cotta with fig - great fall flavors on a traditional panna cotta base. The wine selection is quite impressive. The restaurant is pretty small and feels kind of cramped - that's the only thing I marked it down for. Otherwise, it was an excellent experience with seasonal foods and great service.
Good experience and good service!
We did the family meal and it was amazing! The chef created one of the best meals we’ve ever eaten. So much good food!
Twas a tasty evening at Ned Ludd. I'm a big fan of fire roasted anything so this was right up my alley. Every dish was spot on. We ordered about 6 or 7 dishes to split among four people and this was enough. We almost went with the Chef's Feast but I'm glad we didn't. The carrots were amazing, as was the chicken, the ribeye, the melon salad, the mushroom toast. All good. Drinks were also tasty. I'm sure we'll be back at some point.
We have been dining at Ned Ludd for years. It is one of our favorite spots. We have our favorite menu items to be sure. We had some family in from out of town and decided this was a great place to share with them. We decided, for the first time crazy enough, to do the family feast. IT WAS AMAZING!! So many delicious “off menu” items as well as some menu staples that provided an wonderful culinary experience. Just stunning....we may have been ruined...we just might want to do the feast every time from now on.
Always delightful, ever consistent and an absolute Portland gem. Highly recommend this to anyone!
This was the second time we’ve done the Family Feast, and it was well worth it once again. Everything is so fresh and has so much flavor. The wine pairings are worth it as well. Definitely get plenty of everything, and you won’t leave hungry!
One of the best dining experiences I had throughout my travels across the world. A farm to table experience that customizes the experience based upon the fresh food of the day. We were a group of six who asked our waiter, Fia, to bring us what was best and after asking us a few questions, she went to work with the chef. It’s a little difficult to find but thank goodness since people will flood the place once the word gets out. Everything is new each h day so hard to recommend one thing. So fresh and so good. They could easily charge more.
It is our favorite restaurant in Portland!
Always delicious and the service and cocktails are fantastic.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Fun, swanky, hip, while also being comfortable.
Another triumph. Fantastic food and drinks. Always delicious, creative, and seasonal. Love this place and it’s great knowing that they’re a restaurant who pays the staff a living wage.
Love this place! Great ambiance, friendly staff, epic flavors.
