Fantastic service and delicious new dishes!
I went 2 days ago and have already recommended to 4 people. Every bite was great, but the ceviche! Unreal. I dreamt about it. The service at Nazca Mochica was also phenomenal. Our table was wiped down and our silverware was replaced after each course. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, made great recommendations (ceviche!), and was considerate of my unique tomato allergy. Can’t wait to return!
My wife and I had never eaten at a Peruvian restaurant before, but were delighted by our experience at this lovely boutique restaurant near Dupont Circle. After a delightful cocktail, and a helpful description of the foods by our server, we ventured into the dining. My wife and a delish seafood dish with prawn, mussels, shrimp and calamari. It was served a bed of infused jasmine rice. My entrée was a tuna steak with a tasty sauce and red onions. My only negative comment, which I gave to the matre'di was the tuna could have been less well cooked. But it was still good. This meal had some heat, but not too much.
Our desserts where cooling gelato. I will also say the artwork was very nice, in fact I took some pictures.
The food was delicious, so was the grapefruit beer. The spacing between tables were a little tight, but doable. The service is great!! The only thing I wish would change is the portion size of the food; I only wish they were bigger! Haha. It was my first time here and I'd love to go again.
We have a Peruvian friend who brought us here. The food is authentic and delicious. We will definitely return and be sure to try the server’s recommendations.
We loved everything about our experience at Nazca Mochica, starting with the cocktails and cebiche and ending with the delicious entrees we ordered -- the pollo and the pulpo. This was our first Peruvian meal and we wish you'd open a restaurant in Boston!
Poor service overall. Food arrived before drinks and refills took longer to arrive than the main dishes. Server was never around despite other staff offering to help us locate her. Really disappointing experience given the high praise from other reviewers.
Absolutely wonderful in every way - food, service, ambience. Japaneser-influenced Peruvian which is delicious. Check it out!
Wonderful dining experience from reservation to reception to service drink and food...
The waitress made good recommendations. We weren’t rushed at all but had attentive service. The food was delicious.
Excellent food, impeccable service, neat cool place.
Impressive place. You are transported to Lima, Peru. Food quality is great and service impeccable
My only reservation about Nazca Mochica is that this restaurant has ruined DC for me! Why? This is the ONLY place I want to dine, so my husband and I eat here whenever we are in town. The food is light — but profound — creative, gorgeously presented. The staff is deeply committed to providing the most interesting, delicious representation of modern Peruvian cuisine, and they succeed brilliantly. They care about your experience and delight at your appreciation of what they put out. Oh, and the wine list is excellent. We discovered an incredible Peruvian Tanat that I would love to have in our wine cellar... This is how I want to eat!! Bravo, Nazca Mochica!
I have dined in Nazca several times in the past and I used to love the place, but the last couple if times were a disappointment and tonight was the worst. I will not return.
Was a great Friday night dinner! The food was excellent and the portions were filling. Definitely a highlight of the week! Will be back!
We were not seated until 15 minutes after our scheduled reservation time. Even though our server had only 3 tables, we could not get her attention or any prompt service. For a shared appetizer and basic entrees, it took 75 minutes. Food was fine, but not worth the price.
Great food, great service. Our server was from Peru, authentic.
Super fresh and delicious. Love this place! Will be back soon.
It was great evening. Wonderful staff!
Disappointed that at learning at learning at 4.15 pm on the day of the reservation that we would be on the first floor and not upstairs as requested. Apparently there was a private party booked upstairs. We had never been before and this restaurant was requested by my out of town guests. I had no idea what the space looked like. It seemed to me that they must have known before the day of reservation that we could not be accommodated upstairs.
The food and drinks were good as was the service and luckily no one was at the bar. But we had low stools, no backs, seating for two of us and a banquette seating for the other two. Originally we were going to be six, but I changed it to four as one couple had a bad back problem. Thank goodness or we would have had to leave and find somewhere else. We are all “seniors” and it was not comfortable nor conducive to dining as opposed to just drinks and nibbles. I would hesitate to return.
Food was really good, and the service was great, always waiter checking on us. Will go back soon. Thanks Nazca Mochica.
Fantastic service and awesome food as always! The ambiance was perfect for me and my date.
The gnocchi was immaculate. The service was also amazing.
Although staff was pleasant, the food was luke warm and two requests were ignored. Not major, but wasteful. If asked if you’d like rice and the response is ‘no,’ then don’t bring rice. Responses to questions by the waiter had to be repeated. Perhaps, the restaurant was understaffed that night.
The ceviche had raw onions, which showed me they had not been added during the preparation, but after, making the end result a mediocre one. It also should have been nice and chilled.
Fantastic cebiche - I wish we'd tried them all! I would pass on the ribs and grilled octopus in the future, but the classic chilcanos were delicious.
What a gem! The decor is beautiful - clean lines, interesting wall art and just a lovely vibe. Service was attentive without being intrusive and the food was incredible. Mostly had the ceviches and they were all the perfect balance of salt, acid and fresh seafood. Yum! Go!!
Luv it. Will be back!
The food was amazing. It was just a tiny bit loud there.
Lovely location decor, and highly attentive service, the flavors were wonderful.
Everything was wonderful. I took a chance and it paid off. The owner shared some great information about life, culture and food in Peru and my server was fantastic. I enjoyed Peruvian cocktails, appetizers, enteee and dessert.
Items felt overpriced and I wish i had known that the still water cost extra.
Overall food was good. Skip the Yuquitas a la Huancaina it should not be considered any representation of a true Huancaina it shouldn’t even be an appetizer should be a side and even then it’s not worth it. Ceviches are good as are the Tiradito, Causitas and Short Rib. As for entrees Aji de Gallina was flavorless the Pulpo is a must. Absolutely delicious. The Lomo Saltado was tasty but Seco was mediocre. For vegetarians the Coliflor was good. Had Alfajor and Creme brûlée for dessert and both were delicious. All in all some really good food with a few missteps.
Nazca Mochica is beautifully appointed. The food is good but not great, and there was a bit of a disconnect between the service and the offerings on the menu: questions were half-answered, with neither clear information nor conviction. The flavorful but tough lomo saltado has potential; the high prices will delay the rush back for a second take.
Visiting DC and thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. The food was fresh and very flavorful. Our waiter was friendly and efficient too
The service was so rushed.
The new larger portions were unexpected and great. Everything was delicious as usual. The special fish was a bit hit with everyone. We will be back!
We had a lovely time! The cocktails and meal were delicious. The atmosphere was just right for catching up with old friends!
Food good. VERY loud. Ambiance just average. Website pics deceiving. Meals came before we finished our drinks and before wine. They need to work on their "pacing". Don't think I will go back.
