My cousin and I went for a restaurant week dinner and loved it. So glad to have a great Peruvian place in DC!
Terrible. the waiter was rushing us, the food was not good.
this is the best Peruvian restaurant I have visited in the area. And they emphasize seafood, which is the best part of the coastal Peru cuisine
Very disappointing! If you're looking for Peruvian food, there are much better restaurants in DC. This place is insanely over-priced and the food was terrible! Portions were tiny, the alfajor dessert was literally one oreo-sized cookie on a plate that they probably buy in packs like oreos at a grocery store. Avoid the aji de gallina at all costs - it tastes like and looks like canned chicken I could've bought at the grocery store for a dollar. It was literally shredded chicken in a bowl with an olive (singular) on top. Basically, this food is CVS level quality at a Michelin price, and doesn't reflect Peruvian cuisine (I should know, since I live there). I left feeling totally ripped off.
The food wasn’t good. Salty with extremely small portions. Wine pairing wasn’t great. The table was drafty. Service wasn’t great. Just overall unimpressive and uninspiring. Not at all what I would expect from a Michelin-rated restaurant. Don’t think I’ll be back.
Food quality did not match the price imo. There are better places for Peruvian cuisine in DC.
The food was amazing! The quality and portion was good. The service could’ve been better.
A cocktail option for the restaurant week beverage choice too.
The Piscos will get you! No more than two.
Only two complaints: we went for restaurant week, so the dish didn't come with rice, which would have been nice; and they fried squid or something and put it on top of the lobster and shrimp causa, they only gave us one piece!
Really wonderful evening. Will go back
Unfortunately drinks/wine ordered didn’t make it to the table in time to enjoy with dinner. We cancelled them and waitress was very appropriate in response. Unfortunately again, however, final bill did not reflect cancelling of all that was ordered. But handled politely when we noted. Portions definitely not huge for the price. But not overly small. Excellent octopus.
Really enjoyed the food. My guests were very impressed with the menu and the presentation. What they liked even more was the taste of the meal. Not just pretty food but substantial and quality food.
Wonderful food and experience!
I will go back here every time I'm in DC. It was a fantastic meal, great service, terrific wine selection. The cocktail before our meal was very unique and tasty.
My guests had the octopus and the shredded chicken, I had the tuna. We went here because one of my guests was born in Peru; she was so pleased with the authenticity and would recommend it to her family, which is a HUGE compliment!
One of our favorite restaurants! It did not disappoint!
Everything about our evening here was fantastic! Thank you.
What a wonderful dining experience. Great ambiance, food and service. I enjoyed myself thoroughly and would recommend this spot to others.
I ordered a chupe de camarones which was really good. However, I would advise to include instead of fingerling potatoes the real yellow which are frozen in most markets to make it more like the original.
Also, I would reduce a little the rice quantity and add it with the soup liquid. It is supposed that the rice is cooked in the soup and not come apart like a side dish that in this case has been added after soup is done. Other than that everything was perfect.
Lovely restaurant. Better Peruvian food than elsewhere in DC. Fun place for a lunch or dinner.
I ordered a tiradito and grilled squid which were excellent. This last one is challenging because it was not extra cooked not raw, was crispy outside and soft inside, perfect combination and also, the rest of elements in the dish were so great (ocopa cream, potatoes, etc.).
Excellent food, service and ambiance. Will definitely return!!
Love the food. Second time there when visiting Washington DC
Excellent Peruvian food, in a stylish location, excellent and attentive service. Will go there again.
One of the best dinners I've had in DC. The food was amazing-we ordered the scallop/shrimp cebiche, lomo saltado, and arroz con mariscos and would recommend all three. The tiramisu for dessert was just okay. I've had the pisco sour in the downstairs bar for happy hour and those are delicious as well. Likewise, the ambience and service were great. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!
Fantastic service and delicious new dishes!
Best Peruvian restaurant in the area! And I am a tough judge because I am Peruvian :)
I went 2 days ago and have already recommended to 4 people. Every bite was great, but the ceviche! Unreal. I dreamt about it. The service at Nazca Mochica was also phenomenal. Our table was wiped down and our silverware was replaced after each course. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, made great recommendations (ceviche!), and was considerate of my unique tomato allergy. Can’t wait to return!
My wife and I had never eaten at a Peruvian restaurant before, but were delighted by our experience at this lovely boutique restaurant near Dupont Circle. After a delightful cocktail, and a helpful description of the foods by our server, we ventured into the dining. My wife and a delish seafood dish with prawn, mussels, shrimp and calamari. It was served a bed of infused jasmine rice. My entrée was a tuna steak with a tasty sauce and red onions. My only negative comment, which I gave to the matre'di was the tuna could have been less well cooked. But it was still good. This meal had some heat, but not too much.
Our desserts where cooling gelato. I will also say the artwork was very nice, in fact I took some pictures.
The food was delicious, so was the grapefruit beer. The spacing between tables were a little tight, but doable. The service is great!! The only thing I wish would change is the portion size of the food; I only wish they were bigger! Haha. It was my first time here and I'd love to go again.
We have a Peruvian friend who brought us here. The food is authentic and delicious. We will definitely return and be sure to try the server’s recommendations.
We loved everything about our experience at Nazca Mochica, starting with the cocktails and cebiche and ending with the delicious entrees we ordered -- the pollo and the pulpo. This was our first Peruvian meal and we wish you'd open a restaurant in Boston!
Poor service overall. Food arrived before drinks and refills took longer to arrive than the main dishes. Server was never around despite other staff offering to help us locate her. Really disappointing experience given the high praise from other reviewers.
Absolutely wonderful in every way - food, service, ambience. Japaneser-influenced Peruvian which is delicious. Check it out!
Wonderful dining experience from reservation to reception to service drink and food...
The waitress made good recommendations. We weren’t rushed at all but had attentive service. The food was delicious.
Excellent food, impeccable service, neat cool place.
Impressive place. You are transported to Lima, Peru. Food quality is great and service impeccable
My only reservation about Nazca Mochica is that this restaurant has ruined DC for me! Why? This is the ONLY place I want to dine, so my husband and I eat here whenever we are in town. The food is light — but profound — creative, gorgeously presented. The staff is deeply committed to providing the most interesting, delicious representation of modern Peruvian cuisine, and they succeed brilliantly. They care about your experience and delight at your appreciation of what they put out. Oh, and the wine list is excellent. We discovered an incredible Peruvian Tanat that I would love to have in our wine cellar... This is how I want to eat!! Bravo, Nazca Mochica!
I have dined in Nazca several times in the past and I used to love the place, but the last couple if times were a disappointment and tonight was the worst. I will not return.
