Nawab Indian Cuisine - Williamsburg Ratings and Reviews
I'm not a big fan of Indian food but we wanted a change while on holiday in Williamsburg, VA. Our meal for two came to $80 before tip and including 2 glasses of wine each. We started with Garlic Naan which I wouldn't recommend...everyone else seemed to be having traditional naan. My wife had mixed grill which she loved. I had crab marsala but didn't enjoy it as it was too 'mushy' ... chicken might have been a better choice. We ordered category 3 spice which was a bit too much for us.
Décor was good, service was good, and they were fairly busy with what looked like repeat customers.
PLEASE TRY THIS RESTAURANT. When you drive up to the half full shopping strip the restaurant is located in your first impression is to drive away. Do not. Walk in the door and you will be pleasantly surprised. The food and service was very good. Great Masala. We both had a lamb dish and both were tender and flavorful.
We love Nawab. Service is the best you will find in WIlliamsburg. The staff always remembers us and they consistently check on you. You can order your meal in levels of spiciness from one to five. Don't be afraid to go spicy as the staff will refill your water very frequently. They are on point! The different types of Naan are amazing. Many people go there for the lunch buffet. The dinner menu is also splendid. It is a very warm and romantic place to dine.
We had another great dinner at Nawab in Williamsburg, VA., with friendly servers and delicious food. There are lots of choices on the menu, and you decide how spicy you want it from mild to Indian hot! If you want authentic Indian food, you cannot go wrong with a visit to Nawab.
Tried the place while visiting Williamsburg this April. The food was very good : appetizers (we tried samosa), main dish (chicken something with mango sauce), and 2 desserts (kheer was very good, kulchi was interesting but not my cup of tea (tried 1st time)). Price was right. Service was great.
Saw other comments on this place that dish is smaller side and have to disagree. We split one main dish and it was more than enough.
Definitely will return next time in area!
Amazing food, some very traditional dishes as well as offerings I've never had before. "Paneer 65" is delicious. There was a tasting menu option for dining week, and one starter with crispy rice, pomegranate and cilantro was fantastic!
We live in the D.C. Suburbs of Loudoun county, and wish we had the choice of Nawab.
If you love Indian food, you MUST go!
My husband and I have come to Nawab many times over the past 18 years - ever since we started visiting Williamsburg 1-2 times a year. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is lovely and the staff is very friendly and expert. And - again - the food is delicious, delicious, delicious! If you like Indian food I highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was very tasty and well presented. The Naan was some of the best I have had. And, we really enjoyed the "Mangotini." Service was mixed. Everyone was very friendly, but they do not seem to be properly trained regarding how to pace a meal and when to check in with diners. My husband received a second drink prior to finishing his first while I was never offered the chance to order a second drink. Neither were we given the opportunity to order dessert. The waiter simply brought us our bill. This is both poor service and a missed financial opportunity. The food quality is high so we might just order take out next time.
Food was delicious. Service was conscientious. But was surprised at the small portions for the price. Usually I get two meals out of an indian dinner ordered in a restaurant. We finished all our food and then went out for dessert. Hoping to return for the buffet to see what that is like.
We had family in town and decided to eat at Nawab as we have been there before and it is always great. As usual, we had a great dinner and ordered a bunch of dishes for the table (lamb rogan josh, salmon mahkni, chicken tikka masala, and the seafood biryani). All were delicious! Also, we ordered the mango yogurt smoothie drink for our 5 year old and while he didn't like it so much, my husband thought it was the most delicious drink ever and drank it all up. We always have great service there, they are attentive but allow you time to enjoy the meal. Definitely recommend!
Exceeded our expectations for a strip mall restaurant. My wife's Chicken Kozhambu & my Mixed Grill were excellent as was the Peshawari Naan. The servers were quite attentive to our needs. We will make this a regular stop whenever we are in the Williamsburg, area again .
For a mostly vegetarian family, this place was a perfect alternative to all of the seafood restaurants in Williamsburg. We had great samosas, naan, and pappadams alongside our meal of dal makhani and vegetable biryani. The kids enjoyed the mango lasso as well.
This is definitely a place you do not want to judge by the dire look of the outside. The money is well focused on the decor inside. The food and service are pretty good though the service is a bit slow. I always clock how long it takes for a server to take the drink order and I personally think 10 minutes is too long. Overall the service and food were quite good. Not the best I've had, but quite good nonetheless
Don't let the outside appearance put you off. Nawab is tucked away in a very non-descript location in a run-down looking strip mall, but once you enter the premises, you are surrounded by an atmosphere of quiet elegance. The food is fresh and full of Indian flavor, and the service is attentive without being obtrusive.
