We have gone here many times for Sunday brunch in the past, as the food preparation is always excellent. The variety and quality of buffet items is amazing. That said... a few observations. The prices have considerably escalated, making this far from a value meal. Also, all drinks are now charged for, a change from when bloody Mary's and minosas were compimentary in the past. Our waiter seemed to be new and not yet well trained, as he forgot several items. Also, we employed the valet service because it was blustery and pouring down rain when we arrived and we were dressed in fine clothes. The valet fee is now.... $50!!! .... and the parking lot can be seen only one driveway away from the main entrance... a very short walk! This felt like unneeded extraction! .... But hey, it's the Ritz, right? Next time we will take umbrellas! P.S. ... we were in the last seating, and asked a server what happens to the large amount of left over (excellent) food. We were told it gets tossed into the garbage! Now, any local food bank would be estatic to get that left over chunk of prime rib or roasted lamb, etc. What an incredible... and shocking... waste!
We went there for new year's eve celebration and were inspired when we read the menu. The experience itself was just average. Food was not bad but not great for the huge price we paid. Our expectations were much higher than what we got. Other then reference to the menu, there was very little, if anything, that gave us a sense we were there for a festive evening. Also the advertised new year's eve party with band at the Ritz was poor. The band decided to take a break 10 min before midnight …. there wasn't even a countdown towards the new year. Poor for a highly expensive experience. Not for us anymore.
Navio delivers the luxury and service you expect from the Ritz Carlton - a 5-star experience.
Sunday brunch at Navio used to be one of our favorite things to do for special occasions. This past weekend it wasn't great. Maybe it was because we took a 2:30 seating. The food didn't seem all that fresh, the flavors were ok, but not exceptional like they usually are. We are usually seated in back where it is pretty quiet, but this time it was toward the front and it was really busy and noisy. The dessert bar wasn't as good as usual. No cookies! And, they no longer discount or validate for parking. That is like a $40 entrance fee. I guess just pile it on top of the cost for brunch, which was expensive at $150/pp (though, they do use lots of expensive ingredients that other brunches don't). Not sure we will do it again, but we probably will because it is so beautiful it is worth another try but maybe not during Christmas/NY week.
This is the second time coming to Sunday brunch and the experience is always exceptional. The only complaint is that parking is not validated when dining at the restaurant. Paying $40 for valet for just dining and not staying at the hotel seems too much.
The absolute best steak that I have EVER had
Very enjoyable dinner. Very pricey.
It was our wedding anniversary celebration and we were very excited about going to Navio for the first time. Unfortunately I got to say we were disappointed in the end. The food wasn’t out of this world great as I expected from the reviews and $750+ bill. Believe me we don’t mind paying that much for a special occasion but we expect the food to be amazing for sure!! And it wasn’t. Not to mention beside the host that congratulated us on our anniversary nothing else was done or mentioned. I’m used to a champagne toast or at least write Happy Anniversary on the dessert place we paid for. But no, nothing. The staff was nice and polite and the wine pairing was ok but again I’ve been to many fancy restaurants with better wine selection and bigger pours as well. Anyway. Maybe it was because of the Christmas holiday (we went on the 25) but I was hoping for a lot more. Disappointed for sure... And not to mention the $40 valet they charged even though we ate at their restaurant!! What??? Not coming back. A lot better options at that price in so many places in California.
Frankly we were shocked by the price. I think it should have said the price up front. It brought us down after a otherwise lovely day. Food was beautiful and sumptuous.
We went for the Christmas Day buffet, which exceeded our high expectations. From the caviar bar to the cheese room to the dessert options, everything was attractively displayed and delicious; and the servers at each counter were uniformly helpful. The prime rib roast was the best I’ve ever had, and the seafood options were overwhelming. Not much in the way of salads, but they weren’t missed. And the ocean views from our table were unimpeded - we watched waves roll in to the beach as we ate. When leaving we were all given a cranberry pound cake and encouraged to select Christmas ornaments with chocolate truffles inside.
Only two cautions: the buffet is definitely not intended for children; and the price is high ($200/person plus mandatory 20% gratuity) but worth it.
The pre fix menu wasn't tasty enough to justify the cost. They also charged kids over $100 for a pre fix menu that had caviar (the cheap kind) and crab in a shell. This is not what 3 year olds are willingly eat. Their desserts were good but would never recommend this place for a Christmas Eve/Anniversary dinner.
The staff was nice and the view of the oceans great. But for that pricing, we can go to at least 20 other venues in SF and the bay area.
Very disappointing meal, they advertise it as their fine dining restaurant and they don’t even use tablecloths, the chair upholstery was ripped in places, food average at best. High prices .
Christmas Eve 5 courses dinner ($175)was not exciting at all.
Nothing special about this restaurant compared with others in the bay area except the view.
Amazing Christmas Eve dinner.
Fabulous food, great wine pairing. Awesome wait staff.
Excellent service as always.
It was my husband's birthday, and it could not have been better than spending quality at this fabulous restaurant! It was an absolutely perfect choice. Our server was great and the food was delicious. The ambiance was good too. We would like to go back for another such special occasion.
This is our second visit to Navio, with the first being one year ago. When we went last time, we were very pleased (and pleasantly surprised for a hotel restaurant), which is why we returned. However, this visit was less than good. The menu was split between their resident chef, and a visiting chef - who provided several Mexican dishes to the tasting menu. Unfortunately, they did not really blend together, but on their own were pretty good. However the thing that really ruined the experience was the poor wine pairing this time around, and the absolute lack of knowledge about any of the wines by the staff. For instance we were supposedly served an "Oregon Tempranillo", but found that the waiter couldn't read the bottle, and it wasn't even a Tempranillo (which frankly was pretty suspicious supposedly coming from Oregon). On another course, the wine pairing was poor and we asked for a substitute and the result was like throwing darts blind-folded. Too bad - we had hoped that the Ritz-Carleton had better standards, and the result was a very over-priced meal for what you got.
The entire experience was perfect! beyond high expectations.
Dinner was amazing but after spending a crazy amount on dinner. They make you pay $40 for Valet parking, no validation or anything.... I won’t be going back anytime soon.
Service was excellent. View was amazing. We were seated at around 12 pm. We went to Sunday brunch during Thanksgiving holiday and price is additional $20 on top of usual price for Thanksgiving theme food, such as pumpkin macrons, soup . For the high price, we expect much higher standard food selection, quality and timely fulfillment. Sashimi and oyster is above average fresh but not the top freshness. Crab claws ran out without refill, chocolate truffle were also running out and only 1 selection of soup, which is squash soup. I like the crab claws very much because I think it was the most fresh one of all. I regret I only got a few at my first run and quickly went out. My husband did not even get to taste one at all after 1 pm. Should be another non-vegetarian soup like Lobster bisque. We went there for anniversary and received a free box of chocolate. It was nice. 20% tip is automatically included in the bill.
Wonderful service and the meal was outstanding!
This was by far the best meal my wife and I have had. The quality was amazing and the service was phenomenal. They made our 4 year anniversary very special. My wife and I will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you so very much.
Thanksgiving dinner. Lots of stuff going on so we were not with family or cooking and I wanted something special for my aon. The food was delicious but the staff (jeffrey and Teddy) went out of their way to make it memorable, fun and joyous. I am forever grateful
Beautiful views and service, with solid food. Pricing is inflated but no surprise given the venue and location. Absolutely lovely experience and worth it if you’re visiting for the weekend. The staff did go above and beyond to make sure our experience was flawless.
We dined at Navio to celebrate my husband's birthday, and it did not disappoint. The food was wonderful - we started with an appetizer of spaghetti chittara to share-so tasty. They brought a choice of three different dinner rolls to the table - we chose a brioche-like roll that melted in our mouths - the baker is seriously gifted! We both ordered dover sole garnished with fruits de mer and had a side order of smoked mashed potatoes to share. The potatoes were creamy and delicious and were the perfect accompaniment to the sole which was prepared perfectly - absolutely delicious. The sommelier suggested the perfect wine to have with our dinner (not the priciest on the list!), and we finished with a dessert they call chocolate rocks - it sure did! Everyone who took care of us was terrific - special thanks to our server Billy who did a super job of making sure we had everything we wanted. Thanks to all - we will be back!
Fantastic food. Great ambience and super service! Truly an amazing experience!! Thank you!
Excellent food and service. Great dining experience!
Spectacular birthday dinner! Unfortunately we missed the sunset with the time change, however the food and service were second to none! Must try!
The food and view were amazing. Amazing variety of seafood and a special mention for the dessert selection. As we were a large group, we got a private seating area. The Sunday brunch is not recommended for vegetarian people as they have lesser options. It is for seafood lovers only.
The service is really great. Maria made our experience better.
Sunday brunch at Navio was an experience. It truly raised the bar from which all other brunches will be measured! Navio’s lovely buffet included over two hundred items, Each dish i tasted was perfection! My favorite bites were the lamb, the scrambled eggs ( not sure how scrambled eggs could be that amazing!) , and the caviar... a caviar bar... genius! The seafood was noteable as well. Deserts... save room!
Our table was perfect, overlooking the water. Our servers, five stars.
This was not a special occasion celebrated but made a girls Sunday afternoon get together a great one.
Navio, I will most definitely be back. You’re wonderful!
Everything was great except for the valet attendant. Rude and lied about being there, decided to help another couple first when I was out there first.
Awesome food, service and views
This place was absolutely amazing and worth the cost. I have severe food allergies and the chef came out from the kitchen to personally walk me through the buffet and let me know what items I could eat, and then went even more out of his way to cook me dairy free pancakes (They weren't even serving regular pancakes that day) since most of the pastries had milk. A+ service and we'll definitely be back!
We really enjoyed our dining experience. Staff very friendly and helpful. Definitely plan on returning. Food was wonderfully prepared and presentation was beautiful.
Our waiter was awesome and food was delicious. The chef even came around to check on us which is rare. I think our waiters name was Dean. He was by far the best waiter we’ve had in a long time if ever. Been to quite a few nice restraints and the night we had here was spectacular.
Food was ok, with $320 plus $40 valet parking, probably should’ve spend somewhere else.
Great service, food, and view. The only complaint was that the crab ran out during brunch and for the price, nothing should run out.
Always Outstanding in every way! Great menu, great service.
The overall experience was good. We had a reservation and we were seated in a strange place right in front of the kitchecn. We were on an Anniversary date so we were wanting something for intimate. There were several places near the window and also in the other room that would have been nicer to enjoy with my husband.
There was at least 15 mins between our Appetizer and our main course, and we often had to ask for refills in out champagne and water as our server seemed like he was having to jump around a lot.
The food was excellant, and we love this spot. The timing and service was not the best. Again, this could have been becasue we were at such a high traffic place and we weren't able to be intimate becasue of the noise.
Incredible setting and service. Food was mediocre at best. There is no question the kitchen needs to upgrade their talent.
