Navio Ratings and Reviews
OK, I spent $2000 for 6 of us but we drank a lot of wine and enjoyed a great time dining and hanging out on the Ritz Carlton property. The Sunday brunch feast is the "Mother of all buffets" at least in the Bay Area, totally awesome with caviar to boot and Ritz deluxe service. It's well worth it!
To start with the positive, my husband liked his divers scallops well enough. My smoked trout and roasted beets were a disappointing; the trout was fresh but hardly smoked and there was nothing to bind the two flavors; i honestly think that a line cook forgot to add the dressing. My spaghetti alla chitarra was drowning in a lake of butter; the saffron and fennel were neglible and the crab was ok. The pear and gingerbread looked like a terrarium; it was hard to get a bite that wasn't just a part of the whole--great idea that just didn't come together. Altogether disappointing and therefore overpriced.
We went to Navio for my birthday and had the meal of our dreams. From the first course to the last, our meal was incredible. The hostesses Logan and Inessa, as well as our waitress Pat were superb. In particular, Pat did a wonderful job pacing the meal and making us feel special. The ladies were the absolute best. The only demerit for the whole evening was the long wait for Chef to come over. "Chef, we only wanted to tell you that the meal was fabulous." Maybe he was too busy to meet with his fans.
My wife and I have been going to Navio for birthday celebrations and wedding anniversary for years. Although there has been change of chefs the quality and service do not disappoint. I will highly recommend this restaurant to whom food and ambience are a must in their dining experience.
We went here for our 10 year anniversary. I requested a table with an ocean view which we were accommodated. The service at this restaurant is second to none. Hands down the best service I have ever received. The food was excellent, as we're the desserts. After our dessert, the waiter brought out a nice gift wrapped box of truffles on a plate, which had written upon it, in chocolate, Happy Anniversary. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Disappointing is how I would summarize our experience at Navio. It is not what I expect from The Ritz-Carlton. Firstly, our server was not familiar with the items on the menu. He described the Dungeness Crab appetizer as "four pieces of cakes". We thought it was crab cakes. Surprisingly, the crab was served on fried nori which was delicious. Secondly, I ordered the Filet Mignon, medium well, and my partner ordered the Duck Breast. Both dishes were served simultaneously except that I received Rib Eye instead of Filet Mignon. Both dishes were returned to the kitchen while they prepared my Filet Mignon. It appears the kitchen rushed my order as the Filet came out butterflied. In my experience, the server would normally disclose that they will serve the steak "butterfly" since my preferred temperature was medium well. Of course, I was not informed of this otherwise I would have opted for a seafood entrée. Our server was non-existent throughout our dinner. We saw the bread lady more than him. In sum, food is excellent but management needs to revisit the service and staff development.
My wife & I had dinner at Navio and it was excellent. Our server, Horace, was extremely knowledgeable & a pleasure to talk to about food. He did a great job with the menu. And the scallops might be the best I have ever eaten - they are a must try. I am so glad we decided to try Navio on a Sunday - because the restaurant was closed on our second night at the hotel (Monday). I would go back in a heartbeat.
I came to Navio for a splurge day trip. Within the hour of arriving to the Ritz Carlton property I was engaged! Navio and the Ritz will forever be a special place in our lives. The food will not disappoint, the service is spectacular, and the views from any seat are stunning!!
I was full all day! The high quality of each dish is obvious with your first bite. The dessert section is plentiful and everything between the cheese and cold bar is worth numerous trips.
You will walk out with a dent in your wallet and a fully satisfied belly. Worth the money.
This is expensive restaurant, but really nice, It is part of the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Half moon Bay, The view is wonderful and the food is good. The Tasting menu is $149 each. The rest of the menu is cheaper. The Prawn dish in the tasting menu was the best of this menu. When I go back I will just order that.
We arrived and were seated on time, with perfect window seating. We had a lovely conversation with the server, then ordered our meals and a very expensive bottle of wine. We noted that we would like some kind of vegetable ahead of time and the chef made a very tasty dish. We continued drinking our wine, slowly.we finished off the wine and ordered another bottle, which we did not open. It was at least an hour and our entrees never arrived. We were tired, so we left and went to our room, with our unopened bottle of wine. Our dinner was delivered to our room. We went to sleep and ate our dinner cold the next evening. Thank goodness for having a mini fridge. Our entries were delicious cold, but probably not what the chef wants to hear.
though well prepared, ahi tuna ribbon (appetizer) felt like a large plate of worms after mixed. probably need to separate into 3 smaller portions with different condiment and flavors. were not impressed with the 30 day dry-aged ribeye... too much fat and not enough texture / complexity.
Celebrating our son's recent engagement was fabulous at Navio. The hostesses were so flexible when I realized I booked the wrong number of people. They decorated our table with some personal items that I brought. Our waiter was so professional making suggestions on dishes. The amuse buche was a yummy watermelon basil shot. Thank you to the amazing chef for our apres dinner confections. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Expensive but very nice. The service was excellent, the view is impressive, and the place is classy. It happens that neither of us liked what we ordered (the same thing for each). The scallops were done exactly the way we requested (differently for each of us) but neither of us happened to like the duck/porcini concoction they were smothered in. Even though we agreed, I'll blame this on our taste rather than on any kind of mistake in the kitchen, however. We'll be returning on future trips to H-M Bay but will order something less experimental. I expect I would assign more stars to almost anything else on the menu but unfortunately was forced to rate here and had to go with our experience that particular night. Interpret my three stars as meaning "neutral."
