Nautical Nellies Steak & Seafood House Ratings and Reviews
We just decided to have some drinks, and order off the appy menu. The appetizers were good sized portions and so delicious. The 🍅 based mussel sauce was amazing. The crab cakes are to die for. Amazingly fresh and good. Our Server, was funny and helpful. Highly recommended
The only criticism I have is that the paella had mussels that were not mentioned in the description. I might have ordered something different had I known. Luckily one of our party likes mussels but I could likely have requested extra scallops or prawns instead
Was in Victoria for spa weekend and wanted to go for a great seafood meal. Used a Groupon which had a great menu to choose from and gave us $10 Off our bottle of wine. Our server was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the vibe of the restaurant.
This is usually a 'go to' place, but this time the service was really slow, and they ran out of things like mashed potato, which delayed the meal even further. The wrong bill was given to us, and the payer didn't realize this, so we had to sort it out the following day. The food was excellent as usual though. Just a one night glitch.
After a fairly long wait for our meal, we started with small ceasar salad that was ok. Nothing special or worth raving about. My mom had the Shellfish Combo and from start to finish it was awful. Her lobster was so overdone that she couldn't cut through it with a serrated knife. The crab cake was burnt and the prawns were also overdone. Worst seafood meal she ever had which was such a shame as I was taking her out on the anniversary of my father's passing and they loved seafood.
I had the Steak and Mushroom Pie which came piping hot and with a lovely puff pastry topping. It came so hot that I had to scoop it out to cool and then it occurred to me that our meal must have been sitting under a heat lamp for a good while which is why it took so long to arrive and why the seafood was so overdone. A shame because it wasn't very busy.
Would never go back, would not recommend, such a disappointment.
WONDERFUL SEA FOOD AND THEY DID AN EXCEPTIONAL JOB WITH BEING VERY CAREFUL WITH MY FOOD ALLERGIES AND MY GLUTEN INTOLERENCE. WE ORDERED A PLATTER TO SHARE AND THE ITEMS THAT I COULD NOT HAVE WERE PLATED SEPERATELY. VERY HELPFUL STAFF, YOU NEED RESERVATIONS BUT THEY DID NOT RUSH US TO LEAVE AND WE HAD A LOVELY DINNER. NO ROOM FOR DESSERT THE PLATTER WAS SO LARGE AND SATIFING. GAVE SAMPLES OF THE WINE BEFORE ORDERING AS WE WERE UNFAMILIAR WITH THIER BRANDS. LIVE SEA FOOD TANKS ALSO.
Deep fried calamari was fresh and delicious. The Pinot Gris from Poplar Grove Winery was good. But we were disappointed by the two main courses we ordered from the menu “Specialties” (seafood paella and pan fried Tofino halibut) as the fish was overcooked and paella was no where near the authentic paella. Service and ambiance were both average.
Took two of my staff for a well deserved lunch out, which was thoroughly enjoyed. Our appies, the mussels and the crab cakes, were definitely the high points, as was the lobster bisque. Two of us got the lobster box, and the lobster/shrimp in the rolls was definitely overpowered by the bread itself, while the coleslaw could have used half the amount of dressing... the third person got the pad thai, which she found dry. The server, who was amazing throughout, was quick to remedy this with more sauce. Overall we all enjoyed. A solid 4, a couple of tweaks would make it a solid 5.
We went for my husbands birthday. Our table was great and our friends enjoyed it thoroughly. Our waiter was just perfect, attentive enough which allowed us to have uninterrupted conversation. The food was amazing as usual, this has always been our go to place to bring people and for our selves when celebrating something special. Thank you
The staff was friendly, helpful and very courteous. They were really busy! It was really loud and super boisterous in the restaurant, which wasn't what we were looking for in a date night. The appetizer of calamari was quite good. The mains were good, except that our steaks were not prepared as ordered. Overall, it was good, not great and I would give it another try but not in a rush to do so.
Had an absolute amazing time at Nautical Nellies. The service was surberb. Aspecial shout out to our waitress who was so knowledgeable friendly and just the perfect amount of attention to our table and needs. I can not speak more highly of the seafood we ordered. We had the seafood platter for two and everything g was cooked to perfection. Loved our evening at NUtical Mellies and we will be back again soon!
Our first trip back to Victoria and we wanted a special dinner out. Nautical Nellies did not disappoint! The ambience was lovely and our friendly server was very patient as we tried to decide on our dinner choices amidst a number of delectable options. The food was outstanding and exceptionally prepared. Already we are planning another visit back next month for our anniversary and we are excited to experience another wonderful culinary experience.
Made reservation for 18:15 but arrived 15 mins early and we're greeted by a friendly waitress, shown to our table straight away & offered drinks and given time to review the menu. My wife had the seafood chowder & I had the lobster bisque, both amazing. ( my wife's starter portion was a meal in itself) For mains we had paella & 6oz New York strip with scallops. My wife required a"doggy bag" as her portion was huge. My steak & scallops were cooked as ordered to perfection. With attentive service & great food we only wished we could have squeezed in another visit!
Michelle our server was incredible. My husband and I have been there on numerous occasions and tend to always get the same things as far as appies and main course goes. She Insisted we trust her judgment and made different recommendations. She was SPOT on with everything from drinks to dessert. She also mentioned she had only been there 2 months which I thought "wow, she's really studied this menu quick". Great experience. Always is. The heart of downtown with gorgeous views. Just overall love this place and will continue to.
