Nautical Nellies Steak & Seafood House Ratings and Reviews
Made reservations solely based upon gluten free options. Waitservice was excellent and informed. Cocktails and wine were excellent. Dinner was spot on with my filet being perfectly cooked and wife's salmon equally prepared. The only complaint we could come up with is that the potato to seasonal vegatable ratio was skewed heavily toward potatoes. Otherwise, we had an excellent dining experience.
Celebrated a birthday and wanted a steak. Well, not only was the steak superb but so was the starter - lobster bisque - and the substantial dessert. The staff, especially our server (I am sorry but I forgot her name), was very good - attentive and observant and above all very friendly, with a smile on her face and always a good suggestion when one was needed. We certainly will be back.
New Years Eve disappointment. Server not very personable for such an occasion. Food came with old vegetable and not drained gravy. My steak was way overcooked, and my whole plate was shocking to look at when put down in front of me. Upon complaining to server when she did come back, I was offered a fresh plate. When second plate was put in front of me, it was much better, but shocking they would have served the first plate of food. Of course I had to eat alone because my partner was already done their meal. Have been here a few times before and this was the biggest disappointment on a special night. Too bad.
We eat here twice while we were in Victoria. Once we just stopped in and eat at the bar and the other time we had reservations for dinner. We had the scallops and pasta and the seafood pasta. Both were very delicious. For dinner we had the steak and lobster tail. It was cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back when we visit Victoria again.
Really good. Quick service. Made a reservation while I walked there and had a glass of wine and a dozen oysters within 7 minutes of being there. Some of the best kusshi I’ve had. I would definitely recommend the oysters. That’s all
I had so can’t give an opinion on the rest of the menu.
This was our first time here. I had the arctic char, it was quite a generous amount, and the veggies were tasty. My hubby had the filet mignon, which was good, but at only 6 ounces, not enough for a big guy and way too pricey at $37 for such a small amount - they should have larger serving choices. Overall, the food was good, the atmosphere cozy with oil candles on the tables.
The location and staff are great..the food is overly expensive for the portion served. Both myself and family member ordered a seafood combination which was not worth the price. Lobster tail was chewy and difficult to cut, rice under seasoned and very little vegetable (asparagus was woody), plus 4-5 small prawns. I have eaten here several times and this was the most unsatisfactory meal yet. Christmas Eve fare should have been better than it was.
I would recommend this restaurant but not whole heartedly.
We were disappointed in the food. The calamari was overcooked, so crispy we couldn't taste the squid at all, just crunchy breading. The lamb was coated with a unsavory looking crust that detracted dismally from the visual presentation, and was unnecessary. The bacon caesar salad was the dullest, most boring salad of this kind I've ever had.
This was my second visit to Nautical Nellie's and was a very enjoyable experience. The food was delectable and the atmosphere is the greatest. The location of this restaurant is superb, and the windows allow the diners to have a fantastic view of the harbour and the people walking past. I will continue to return to this fabulous place.
I'd go again but probably not with a Groupon and not using the Groupon menu. The choices were very limited and everything I had contained rice - a Lot of rice!! I felt I would have gotten better value for a rice or noodle bowl at another much lesser priced restaurant. My husband's chicken was "just okay" and, as usual lately, he left his vegetables as they were undercooked and very hard. Dessert was good but I was so full of rice I didn't have any of mine. And it took me two days to eat the rice I took home with me. Toooo much rice, not enough choices.
Very noisy. We were seated in a terrible spot next to a service area, right were all staff passed and across from a group that were literally screaming at each other. The place was nearly empty and we were reseated Upon request. It was just odd that we were placed in such an terrible spot. Very poor staff training.
The place is decorated with paint by number art and wall mirrors. Very tacky. They need to move out of the Sixties.
Food was hit or miss. Calamari was chewy and not the worst I have eaten but poor at best, crab cakes should be avoided as the are tasteless. Bourbon prawns 🍤 were good. Steaks ok but were rare when we asked for med rare.
The most expensive dinner during our vacation and by far the worst. There are a lot of good places in Victoria this is not one of them.
We just decided to have some drinks, and order off the appy menu. The appetizers were good sized portions and so delicious. The 🍅 based mussel sauce was amazing. The crab cakes are to die for. Amazingly fresh and good. Our Server, was funny and helpful. Highly recommended
The only criticism I have is that the paella had mussels that were not mentioned in the description. I might have ordered something different had I known. Luckily one of our party likes mussels but I could likely have requested extra scallops or prawns instead
Was in Victoria for spa weekend and wanted to go for a great seafood meal. Used a Groupon which had a great menu to choose from and gave us $10 Off our bottle of wine. Our server was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the vibe of the restaurant.
This is usually a 'go to' place, but this time the service was really slow, and they ran out of things like mashed potato, which delayed the meal even further. The wrong bill was given to us, and the payer didn't realize this, so we had to sort it out the following day. The food was excellent as usual though. Just a one night glitch.
After a fairly long wait for our meal, we started with small ceasar salad that was ok. Nothing special or worth raving about. My mom had the Shellfish Combo and from start to finish it was awful. Her lobster was so overdone that she couldn't cut through it with a serrated knife. The crab cake was burnt and the prawns were also overdone. Worst seafood meal she ever had which was such a shame as I was taking her out on the anniversary of my father's passing and they loved seafood.
I had the Steak and Mushroom Pie which came piping hot and with a lovely puff pastry topping. It came so hot that I had to scoop it out to cool and then it occurred to me that our meal must have been sitting under a heat lamp for a good while which is why it took so long to arrive and why the seafood was so overdone. A shame because it wasn't very busy.
Would never go back, would not recommend, such a disappointment.
